I was out in the area with a friend and was on a job. I asked him we're there was a home depot in the area and all he could do was laugh. I have unfortunately become so used to trying to find all my items at large stores and with the lost of so many mom pop sops going away so fast I was at a lost when he told me of this place. Thank you Lord that small places like this still exist. I know for a fact that at a large store it would take a lot of time to find the few things I needed but here I walk in and bam everything I need at a arms links thank you so much and I hope you guys get to keep up the great work and never fall to the overpriced super stores that are trying to take you out. I felt like a kid that had gone in to every garage of all my friends growing up. Rows and rows of nothing but nut bolts and anything else you could look for. Keep up the work to keep the small hard to find mom and pop shop items on the market. Thanks guys.

I've got a Gal. The common expression is "I've got a Guy" when someone needs a connection or help with a job. Well, if you are in need of great advice and a place where you will find what you need for your household chores (for fix it) items than Dana Point Hardware is your go to place and the ladies who work there (I have only been there a few times at this writing and have been helped by women) are your "Gals". I recently moved in the area and had Best Buy deliver a gas dryer to my new place and install it. The installer says he can't hook up the dryer as the connection gas line is larger (5/8") than the gas line hookup from the wall. He says I have to remove the current connection and install a 5/8" hookup or get an adapter to fit the gas line. I ask a friend of min about this and he says let's go to Dana Point Hardware and see what they say...he has been going there since the 70's. So we walk in and he says hello to lady behind the counter who he has seen grow up in the store working for her dad and now is the owner. I explain the problem that I have this 5/8" gas connection hose and need somehow to connect it to my dryer. First thing she says is home as dryers are 3/8". Gets me the correct size yellow gas hose connection and tells me to go connect it and return the 5/8th one to Best Buy with the added "they must think you are connecting a commercial gas range". Worked like a charm!! The next day I go in to replace some screws that were lost in the move that attach an arm to a chair. I roughly measure the opening and go down to Dana Point hardware. Another women this time helps me and gives me both in metric and standard in fine and regular thread and tells me to bring back the ones that did not work. Again such great help and yes one of the selections of course worked. Well, if you need expert advice in hardware, fixing an issue at your home, or finding that hard to find item the "I've got a Gal for you" the ladies at Dana Point Hardware.

Great hardware store. As a local business owner I have come to rely on the store. They pretty much have most everything you need.

For my limited requirements (general house handyman stuff) this fits perfectly. Unlike the big box stores, there is always someone available. When needed they will find the right person (expert) to give me the information I need. Unlike the big box stores the person actually knows what they are talking about. The people who work here are extremely knowledgeable. Thanks to them: 1. My drains remain clear (even in my daughters shower) 2. I have the right lightbulbs in each room (I got a 30 minute detailed lecture) 3. Anything hanging on my walls can handle the weight correctly. 4. My paint matches when I touch up. 5. My tool bag has the right tools in it. 6. I have the right tool bag. 7. My showers are free of lime, hardwater and rust 8. My car leather looks awesome. I could go on but you get the point. The selection is clearly smaller than some other stores. But I go here to get 'help' and not just to buy things. For someone like me this place is perfect.

I went in the other day just to find some tiny screws, and they have a huge selection-better than Home Depot, and you can get someone who actually knows what they're talking about to help you find some random screws that cost $0.26 cents each. Where do you get that kind of service nowadays? The shelves are packed with just about everything you need for any kind of small or medium project around the house. Hope you stay in business forever!

The only reason I'm not giving one star is because Lawrence at self-checkout was absolutely great, and the manager (Gary, I believe?) was understanding, although he almost seemed unsurprised by the behavior I described. Steven, on the other hand, was incredibly rude, condescending, and downright unpleasant. And it wasn't just toward me! He was so rude to another customer that he and I actually started laughing together in disbelief at his attitude. I came in looking for some guidance on a DIY home improvement project. After realizing the product Steven recommended was incorrect, I returned it and came back with another question. His response? That I should come into the store already knowing what I want instead of asking him questions. Oh, okay! Silly me for thinking I could walk into a home improvement store and ask an employee for help with home improvement. Not everyone is a contractor or an expert. Some of us are just trying to learn, tackle projects ourselves, and make sure we're buying the right products. I don't expect employees to know absolutely everything, but I do expect basic kindness and professionalism. Steven made what should have been a simple shopping experience unnecessarily frustrating. Lowe's, you can do better. And Steven, I genuinely hope your pillow is always hot.

He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely interested in finding exactly what we needed. He immediately stood out as one of the best sales professionals we have ever worked with. Our experience with him was so positive that when we later decided to replace two exterior doors in our home, we specifically went back to Home Depot to work with Andy and ultimately purchased both doors through him. Even though our contractors had offered to get the exterior doors for us through their manufacturer connections and handle the installation at a better price. We still chose Home Depot because of Andy. There may always be another option or a better deal somewhere, but trust, reliability, and exceptional service are much harder to find. Andy genuinely listens to his customers. He is caring, approachable, knowledgeable, and never pushy. He understands what you need, gives thoughtful and trustworthy advice, and consistently follows through. He truly under-promises and over-delivers. That kind of trust creates loyal customers. His follow-up was exceptional as well. Even when we couldn't make a couple of the appointments, he remained patient, continued following up, and kept providing us with additional options. He never gave up on helping us, and his persistence always felt genuine rather than sales-driven. We have literally raved about Andy to our friends and family. He deserves to be recognized and hopefully compensated accordingly for the exceptional service, integrity, and dedication he brings to his job.

They also have a drive thru "Will Call" for contractors I assume, or maybe even regular homeowners like me. BUT, listen Ganahl, if you're mainly focused on big contractor orders for big projects, PLEASE say so up front. If that's the case, no problem, I can go to other places. I came in for a small bookshelf project and needed 2 3/4" Veneer Core Rift Cut White Oak Plywood panels which needed to be precision cut. I also needed a solid S4 White Oak front piece, and some other regular hardwood. A very nice salesperson took my info and said since they didn't have this at the Laguna shop, they would call Anaheim. Great! Never heard back, yay or nay. I called but didn't get anyone on the line who could help me or even call back. Disappointing, especially because if I go in a store and someone is very helpful, I make a small purchase because that's just me. This time I bought some potting soil which I likely paid too much for. But I like to help my local stores. I just wish the converse was true. Like I said, if small orders aren't worth it, just say that and save folks like me a trip and wasted time wondering what happened.
