It's time to find another eye doctor! My appointment was at 9am and counted 16 people in the waiting room! Been sitting and waiting for 1 hour and only 2 people were called to see the doctor! There is no excuse for this mismanagement in scheduling! This facility deserves a minus rating! read more

First, there's a sign at the desk warning you of the long wait time so you'll be prepared; no surprise. Because I have vision issues, I had no problem waiting to see this highly accredited doctor. Total time from entering door to exiting was 3 hours, including the dilation wait time and all the test. Secondly, the staff were extremely kind and helpful, from the front desk gal to all of the highly trained techs operating all the crazy state-of-the-art machines. True professionals. Thirdly, Dr. Eichenbaum was thorough and explained all the results completely, all while I enjoyed his piped in blues music. Going in today to pick out my new frames. Can't wait! read more

If I could give him negative stars, I would. I know he is one of only a few Opthalmologist's here in the mountains, but believe me it's worth your gas and time to go elsewhere. The wait times in his office are horrible! They would make my appointments at 8:00 am even though he doesn't even start his day until 9:00 am. What is most concerning though was the eye care I received. I was a patient of his for 12 years, treating uncontrolled glaucoma. For twelve years he could not get the pressure under control, all he would do is try different drops, different combinations and say that "If we can't get it under control we will need to talk about surgery." The thing is, he never wanted to discuss surgery when I would ask about it. It took a trip to Pearle Vision to get a pair of glass to finally convince me that I needed to go elsewhere. I had been thinking about it for years, but I didn't want to have to drive a long distance for all of the appointments that I had to keep making. He never had me go longer than 6 months without an appointment, but he usually kept me coming back every 4 months which always involved two trips, one for the visual fields and one for him to give me the results of the visual fields. The reaction of the Optometrist at Pearle Vision when he did the visual fields, checked my eye pressure and asked me about my eye care was palpable and a turning point for me. After that encounter I decided to find a new Opthalmologist. It takes me a little over an hour to get to my new doctors office, but it is worth the drive! He is very professional, the office is run exceptionally, I never have to wait more than 1/2 hour, but typically if I show up a little early, they see me early. Within a month my new doctor had operated on both of my eyes. I was able to stop the glaucoma drops completely in one eye and went from drops 6x a day to 2x a day in the other. And when I visit him, he does both the visual fields test and I see him for the results in the same visit. Dr. Eichenbaum always makes you come one week to take the test, then come back another week to see him for the results. Which gives him a reason to bill your insurance company twice??? I will always recommend people go see someone else. This was my experience and other people may disagree. But, I am proof that a second opinion made all of the difference. read more

We made our appointment 6 months ago. Arrived at office 15 minutes early for 10:30am appointment. It took 2 hours before we were seen just for a vision test. Taken to another room where we sat for over 25 minutes only to be taken to another room for retinal pictures. The technician did not even introduce himself to us. If I was not a nurse already, I would have no clue what was going on. We were placed back in the waiting room so we could wait to see the doctor. Other patients have stated it is a minimum 2.5 hour visit when coming to the Murphy office. It has now been 3 hours since our arrival and still have not seen provider. I do not recommend this provider. I have to get off of Yelp to look for restaurants because my son is starving. If you come to this office, pack a lunch and make no plans for the entire day Update: 4 hours later we were just placed in a room to see provider I had to take an entire day off of work for one doctor appointment less than one hour from my home. 4.5 hours still no doctor... Complete lack of courtesy and professionalism to make patients wait over 4 hours to see him. They really need to change the way patients are scheduled. This was just an initial appointment....not a surgery. read more

Horrible experience. Made appt 6 months in advance. Arrived at 11:00 for my 11:20 appointment and waited until 3:30 until I was sitting in the Drs chair!!!!! Didn't walk out because eyes had already been dilated by nurse! I don't care how good of a doctor he is! Never going back. read more

Forget the wait time. I don't care how long I have to wait for quality care. This doctor took my husband in on short notice with a suspicion of a detached retina. Yes we had to wait. But this guy was fantastic. Compassionate and very knowledgeable. We live here part time. I would change to this doctor if we had not been going to our Charlotte doctor for over 15 years. Loved this guy. Turned out my husband did not have retina damage. But what he DID have was explained to us where we totally understood. Thank you so much! read more

I had an appointment with him at 9:50 am. When I scheduled the appointment for the Murphy office I was informed they would mail me forms to fill out and bring to the appointment. The forms never came even though the appointment was made 100 days ahead. I arrived for my appointment on time and when I signed in there was a printed sign on the sheet that the wait time was 2 hours or more. I filled out the forms and went in the waiting room that was completely full for a one doctor office. I inquire to one of the patience and she said that all patience that had surgery were required to be there at 8:00 am the next day. I went to the desk and asked if i could leave and run errands and they said no. Why would or should a doctor schedule an appointment knowing he would not see a patient for at least two hours. It felt more like a power trip and a doctor who really had no interest in good and respectful client services. He is the only opthamologist in Murphy. I did not stay and schedule an appointment in Franklin, an hour away where they saw me within the first 10 minutes of my arrival. it was worth the drive to be treated with respect instead of a piece of meat. I do not recommend this doctor regardless of his credentials because of his lack of respect for others. I mean if you know you are running 2 hours late all of the time, schedule your patients further apart. Treat others the way you would like to be treated! read more
