Don't worry about prononucing his last name. 'Dr. Dan' is what he prefers to be called.
I started seeing Dr. Dan two weeks after I was in a terrible, bone-crushing, spine-baddening accident.
Now, I'll tell you that I don't generally abide by chiropractic. I think they're too harsh, I am too sensitive a flower to be jarred and twisted around, my muscles are too tense to actually let go enough for me to get into those positions, and it's scary.
Dr. Dan is a different kind of chiropractor. No, he's not one of your woo-woo guys, either.
He uses 'The Activator', a little hand-held spring-loaded pogo stick thing. He'll explain to you how speed=increased force, and how this little thing just pops the bones back in to place, without all the fanfare and twistyforce of 'regular' chiropractic.
When I was weeks from being able to see a regular chiropractor, I was able to be adjusted by Dr. Dan two weeks into an acute injury, and his treatment helped me not have to be sedated into a coma to get through the pain.
I saw him twice a week for a year, and the only thing I miss about that time in my life, is not getting the amazing treatments I got from Dr. Dan and my acupuncture/massage guy, Brendan. I'd Yelp a review for Brendan too, but he moved across the country and I don't know where he is.
Dr. Dan's lovely wife, Gail, is a naturopath in the same practice, and is a wonderful doctor too. The whole practice shares an integrative, allopath/western mishmash view, holistic, of healing. I love them.
I'll be reviewing my main doctor soon, too.
Dr. Dan used to be a massage therapist, and then wanted to offer more to his patients, so he went to chiropractic school. He's definitely a healer. He's also a New Yorker with a healthy sense of humor, and he's a great hugger. I love Dr. Dan. read more
