The first thing I noticed was that he got the knots out with no pain, by using long, very slow strokes instead of the painful repetitive pressure I'd experienced elsewhere. I have had chronic lower back and neck issues, and was really hopeful that I might get some relief. First, they charge a $90 intake fee, which isn't covered by health insurance (I've never had that experience at any other chiro office in other places I've lived). The same day of my initial intake, on my way home, I got in a super minor fender bender. At my next appointment they said they wouldnt treat me until I did ANOTHER $90 intake appointment in case there was anything new from my fender bender. I told them my body felt totally fine and that there was hardly any damage or anything to the cars, and that Id even sign a waiver or anything they needed. They kept pressuring me to use my PIP insurance for multiple days, and refused to continue my previous care until I did that, even though I kept saying my body was fine and that I didnt want to use my PIP insurance and couldnt afford to pay out of pocket. At one point Dr. Cosgrove offered to do the new exam for free, but then 2 hours later called back and revoked his offer and said he'd talked to a lawyer who promised that using my PIP wouldnt raise my insurance rates and that he no longer would offer the comped exam because it was a waste of his time. It felt so slimy and like a total money grab. I chose to walk away after never haven gotten any chiropractic care and asked for my original $90 back and they refused.

I have two primary concerns with Align Wellness:…read more First, my interaction with Mr. Farrell felt more like I was speaking with a car dealer than a medical professional. Emphasis throughout the brief appointment was on my purchasing something (e.g. heel chips for shoes, a chair wedge, booking future appointments, etc.) rather than explaining the cause for my symptoms and going over a possible treatment plan. There was very little if any discussion of my medical history and current symptomology. Instead, Mr. Farrell just went straight into his repertoire of adjustments (which I imagine to be the same or a similar routine for everybody) and moved rapidly from one adjustment to the next. It seemed that his concern was getting through my treatment set promptly so that he could move quickly on to the next patient. At one point he even said to me that he would answer my questions at "one of your next appointments." Second, and most importantly, is that I have never before received medical treatment where the provider left the door to the treatment room wide open. As Mr. Farrell went through his adjustments on me, office staff members and several waiting patients walked back-and-forth past the room with clear visibility in to see what was going on. The front desk and office waiting area were less than 10 feet away from me and I could very clearly hear all conversations going on outside the room. Had Mr. Farrell and I actually discussed my medical history or current complaints, both very personal and private matters, those same people would have easily been able to hear me discuss those matters as well. To me, that is unethical, unprofessional and unacceptable. I'm moving out of the area soon but even if I were to stay in Seattle, I would absolutely not return to Align Wellness.
