He also gave me some great tips on keeping my apartment more secure. I got the impression he truly cared about my safety. My experience with Andy: I had to change my locks last May in the middle of the night after a pretty horrible break up. I called another locksmith company (Maple Leaf) who came and changed my locks. A few months later, I found myself short one housekey. Not sure where it went, I decided it would be in my best interest to change the locks again. The day after researching locksmiths, I received a call from the guy at Maple Leaf, asking about my lock plate, or something along those lines, because my neighbor wanted one like it. While I had planned on going back to him, this phone call really weirded me out because he never worked on my lock plate and none of my neighbors should know about it because they haven't been to my apartment (that I know of). I called Andy at Advantage Locksmith. He showed up quickly, changed my lock, made my keys and gave me some tips to better secure my home. I asked him if he knew the guy at Maple Leaf. He said yes and I told him what happened. He was really sweet and called the other locksmith to figure out exactly what was going on. When the other locksmith told Andy he hadn't called me, Andy verified the number from my phone to make sure it was the other locksmith (Bjorn) when all of a sudden he remembered calling me and had just gotten the customers confused. It was very kind and I could tell that his concern for me and my discomfort was genuine. I also appreciate that Andy explained he won't have my receipts after the end of the fiscal quarter, so he would have no way to contact me, as they go to his accountant. Very professional and very kind.

Installed both locks in under an hour and was done and dusted with no issues. The staff who came (I think Filippe?) was very crisp and technical. No unnecessary chit chats, no over selling, and quoted a very reasonable price which I didnot even bother negotiating. Overall, I'd love to hire these folks for some more projects in the future.

I called our local hardware store for a recommendation, and they referred Ravenna Locksmith along with another well-known local company. I was not terribly impressed with work that other company had done for me nearly twenty-five years ago at a different residence, so I did a bit of research on Ravenna Locksmith instead. What a pleasant surprise. Our front door is a specialty, older model that requires parts no longer available in the United States, which immediately puts this job outside the comfort zone of many providers. From the start, Ravenna Locksmith stood out for their willingness to engage with the problem rather than find reasons to avoid it. Howard asked for photos in advance, reviewed them carefully, and was able to diagnose most of the issue before ever stepping on site. That alone saved time, stress, and unnecessary guesswork. Even more impressive, he sourced appropriate solutions and got us scheduled within three days, which felt remarkably fast given the complexity and the fact that replacement parts are no longer standard or readily available. When Howard arrived, he confirmed everything he had already identified from the photos and explained the situation clearly and calmly. His depth of knowledge was obvious, not just with modern hardware, but with older and specialty systems that many locksmiths no longer deal with. He was friendly, patient, and genuinely pleasant to work with, which makes a real difference when you are dealing with a frustrating home repair. Just as important, the pricing was very fair and transparent. There were no surprises, no upselling, and no attempt to oversimplify or exaggerate the work required. We felt we were paying for real expertise and honest labor. Ravenna Locksmith, and Howard in particular, are exactly the kind of local professionals you hope to find but rarely do. We would not hesitate to call them again and highly recommend them, especially if you have a nonstandard or challenging lock situation. As a brief side note, I did call the other well-known local company as a backup. Within about three minutes, it seemed clear they had little interest in my situation. No real questions. No invitation for someone to assess the matter. It was like talking to a sagebrush in a hurry to blow past me. That is their prerogative, of course, but the contrast was telling. Howard builds relationships and solves problems. Others seem more comfortable checking a box and moving on.

After contacting a few locksmiths in the area, I decided to go with the PNW team based on their pricing and their outstanding communication. Big shout-out to Mandi for helping with all my questions and making everything super transparent over emails and texts - she's fantastic! I agreed to a quote for the project on Friday and the PNW team was able to schedule the work to be performed the following Monday by Joshua (the locksmith tech). On the morning of the job, Joshua texted and called me to confirm all the details of the quote. He also gave me lots of helpful details on the types of hardware we could use for the job and what might be best for my home and specific situation. I decided to upgrade one of the pieces in the original quote, and he revised the quote estimate to make sure there'd be no surprises charges when it came to final payment. Once again, the communication here was outstanding. When he arrived at the house, Joshua exemplified professionalism, friendliness, competence, and transparency from start to finish. He showed up on time, got to work right away, finished the job in a very reasonable amount of time, and then confirmed I was satisfied with his work before he left. The whole experience greatly exceeded my expectations. It honestly felt like working with a friend. I'd highly recommend the PNW team for any locksmith-related jobs. Mandi, Joshua, and the rest of the team are truly delivering top-notch service and quality workmanship in what they do. I'm confident I'll be using them again in the future if I need anything else.
