I wear makeup very infrequently, so it was important to me to hire a professional who would do a good job with very little input from myself about how I "would normally" do it. Her creativity shined through and I was very impressed. My mother & my sister were equally beautiful. All of us had our own unique style tailored to the individual. I am extremely picky when it comes to bridal makeup and hair. As much as I vowed to not be a bridezilla, I knew that finding the right makeup and hair team was something important to me. I've been in several other weddings this year, and saw how some stylist would spring additional costs at the last minute (ranging from using "heated tools" to Bobby Pins) so was also intent on finding a company that was trustworthy. Within minutes of talking with Patti, I knew I wanted to work with Brushworx. She spent a lot of time figuring out exactly what I needed and walked me through how they calculated their prices, answering all my questions with ease. I also liked that tip was included, because a lot of times it's not, and is expected in cash the day of the wedding (both awkward and stressful). And was impressed that the price for having your hair done was a flat rate no matter how you wanted it styled. Not only were Brushworx's prices fair, over the course of working with their team and my makeup/hair stylist, Katia (who is AMAZING), I was given tips that saved me money! I originally didn't know if I wanted my bridesmaids' hair or makeup done, because my budget only allowed for one but I really wanted my girls to feel beautiful. I was leaning towards hair, but Katia advised I go with makeup because it makes a bigger difference in pictures and keeps your look cohesive. I appreciated her advice and that her suggestion lowered the price than if I had gone with hair. Brushworx really is about what's best for you, not what makes them the most money. And she was so right, getting the makeup done really made everyone feel and look incredible! I also got thoughtful little gifts like hairspray, and extra MAC lipstick so I could touchup my lips throughout the wedding (which ended up being very useful)! For your trial run, their boutique is located in the lower level of Patti's house. At first I was skeptical of this; but as I went through the backyard, passing a child's bike, it was actually a really charming reminder that I was supporting small business instead of a chain. But once I opened the door to Patti's studio, I was completely blown away. I stepped into one of the cutest and most stylish salons I have ever been in, and I love going to salons! Once you stepped inside and closed the door you could have been in a salon in one of the most expensive areas of New York City (I know, I live in NYC). The place is incredible! Their energy and excitement, and TALENT, made the trial-run feel like a fairytale experience; transforming into a princess and having fun with it!! It is a memory that I think back to as really special in the lead-up to my wedding. Overall, Patti and Christine and their team at Brushworx is INCREDIBLY ORGANIZED, PROMPT, EASY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH, and ACCOMMODATING, which was essential because I was planning a wedding in GA while living in NYC. On the day of my wedding Katia was efficient and also a fun addition to the getting ready process and made us all look stunning. It was perfect. Initially, when I reached to Jazmine to do my sister's makeup for her upcoming wedding, she was great. Her responsiveness was extremely quick, she was detail-oriented, and reasonably priced. So, imagine my surprise when I found out that Jazmine told my sister she double/overbooked the weekend of her wedding (we booked her for two days). Jazmine proceeded to tell my sister that she could come later and do her makeup at 3PM; keeping in mind, the wedding starts at 5PM (not including the time that it would take to arrive at the venue and do the first look.) When my sister informed Jazmine that those times would not work and requested a refund, Jazmine quite literally ghosted her and since has not returned the money. It has been a complete 180 from the Jazmine that I experienced in the beginning; it almost feels as if we had been lured into a scam. And to top it off, coming here to see that the most recent review of Jazmine says that she missed doing makeup for a bride to attend a dentist appointment, that was the same excuse she gave my sister this week when my sister was trying to get a hold of her. So, be weary, Jazmine is 100% more likely to prioritize going to and being on time for the dentist than showing up to do your makeup.

O_O Needless to say, I was a panicked bride. I found DaNina on yelp - she had great reviews on all of the wedding sites as well. I sent a pricing inquiry on her website, after looking at her work, I was really impressed at how diverse her portfolio was! There were brides of all different cultures, and every single one of them was so BEAUTIFUL! She responded within 24 hours of my inquiry, which is really important for a time pressed bride... Before I knew it, we scheduled a trial run. She was very flexible with my time. My schedule can get a little crazy, but she worked with me. We had the trail at my house. She showed up early, and (as usual) I was late... to my own house.. lol. But she was super nice about it! She came prepared with all of make up that you can ever need, her own light, and this comfy make up chair as well. I opted for air brushed foundation, a smoky eye and a burgundy lip that matched my bridal shoes :) I had a few pictures of what I wanted, and she sure did execute! She did an amazing job! I loved everything about the look that she created for me! I also wanted an up-do, and she had her hair stylist Sonya Rivera come in for that. Sonya did an amazing job with my up-do and waterfall braid. Both of these ladies are as sweet as pie, and you can definitely sense the camaraderie between them. I'm not really a girly-girl, so I was honestly kind of dreading getting my make up done, It was not nearly as awkward as I thought it was going to be! They are both so warm and kind, and they have a way of just making you feel comfortable. DaNina created a schedule with all of my bridesmaids/mom that were getting serviced. She sent it to me a couple days before the actual day so we knew what to expect. The morning of my wedding was ABSOLUTELY bananas. We were running behind schedule, but DaNina & Sonya kept their composure (way better than I did) and did their thing. Everyone was so happy with their hair and make up! Luckily while on Yelp I found Vanny randomly. Her page only had one review at the time but the review was done by the husband which I found cute. I contacted her and ended up booking my trial session to be done with my bridal portraits. When we met up the original time frame was 2ish hours but it ended up taking about 3 hours but we had enough time to make it where we needed to be for pictures. I had a decent amount of hair to curl and I was using clip in extensions so it added some more time. Lets just say that even though the appointment took a little longer than I was expecting, I LOVED how it turned out. She loves sharing ideas on Pinterest so I had pinned several ideas already and she was able to take those ideas and my makeup and hair were beautiful. When it came to actual wedding day she did the makeup of my three bridesmaids as well as myself and it went very smoothly. She set up shop in our hotel room and one after another did our hair and makeup. It took about 6.5 hours from enter and exit of the hotel room which may seem a bit long but two of the bridesmaids had pretty long hair which took longer to curl and fix.
