I wear makeup very infrequently, so it was important to me to hire a professional who would do a good job with very little input from myself about how I "would normally" do it. If you are looking for a team that is EXTREMELY TALENTED, AFFORDABLE, and makes you not only LOOK but also FEEL BEAUTIFUL....BRUSHWORX is the way to go! I am extremely picky when it comes to bridal makeup and hair. As much as I vowed to not be a bridezilla, I knew that finding the right makeup and hair team was something important to me. I've been in several other weddings this year, and saw how some stylist would spring additional costs at the last minute (ranging from using "heated tools" to Bobby Pins) so was also intent on finding a company that was trustworthy. Within minutes of talking with Patti, I knew I wanted to work with Brushworx. She spent a lot of time figuring out exactly what I needed and walked me through how they calculated their prices, answering all my questions with ease. I also liked that tip was included, because a lot of times it's not, and is expected in cash the day of the wedding (both awkward and stressful). And was impressed that the price for having your hair done was a flat rate no matter how you wanted it styled. Not only were Brushworx's prices fair, over the course of working with their team and my makeup/hair stylist, Katia (who is AMAZING), I was given tips that saved me money! I originally didn't know if I wanted my bridesmaids' hair or makeup done, because my budget only allowed for one but I really wanted my girls to feel beautiful. I was leaning towards hair, but Katia advised I go with makeup because it makes a bigger difference in pictures and keeps your look cohesive. I appreciated her advice and that her suggestion lowered the price than if I had gone with hair. Brushworx really is about what's best for you, not what makes them the most money. And she was so right, getting the makeup done really made everyone feel and look incredible! I also got thoughtful little gifts like hairspray, and extra MAC lipstick so I could touchup my lips throughout the wedding (which ended up being very useful)! For your trial run, their boutique is located in the lower level of Patti's house. At first I was skeptical of this; but as I went through the backyard, passing a child's bike, it was actually a really charming reminder that I was supporting small business instead of a chain. But once I opened the door to Patti's studio, I was completely blown away. I stepped into one of the cutest and most stylish salons I have ever been in, and I love going to salons! Once you stepped inside and closed the door you could have been in a salon in one of the most expensive areas of New York City (I know, I live in NYC). The place is incredible! Their energy and excitement, and TALENT, made the trial-run feel like a fairytale experience; transforming into a princess and having fun with it!! It is a memory that I think back to as really special in the lead-up to my wedding. Overall, Patti and Christine and their team at Brushworx is INCREDIBLY ORGANIZED, PROMPT, EASY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH, and ACCOMMODATING, which was essential because I was planning a wedding in GA while living in NYC. On the day of my wedding Katia was efficient and also a fun addition to the getting ready process and made us all look stunning. It was perfect. My wedding was last Saturday and Melissa and Kisha were our artists. They are so talented! Brushworx was easy to work with (especially since we had several changes - sorry!) Our artists were fun, listened to what the ladies wanted and were awesome even with fussy flower girls. you can't put a price on how beautiful they made us look and feel. Every camera shot was a 'wow' shot and everyone was so happy. You don't always get what you pay for in weddings, I know I didn't on some fronts. Kisha and Fathia did a phenomenal job on our wedding party's hair and makeup! We had them come to two separate locations simultaneously (Fathia took care of our moms and flower girls at their hotel, while Kisha came to my home to work on my bridesmaids and I.) I'd previously worked with Kisha for our engagement photos, and she knocked it out of the park with my bridal makeup and hair. We also had Kisha travel to the venue with us to hang around for touch-ups while we were taking photos pre-ceremony, and she even stayed half an hour later than originally anticipated to make sure I was still looking on point after walking down the aisle. We used this company for a wedding vendor. Sent us an invoice with charges increased from the initial estimate. A large increase. That same initial invoice... was added together incorrectly. I could not believe for a business that was so highly rated that they were this incompetent. I should have at that point dropped the contract all together and found someone else. They have multiple people answering emails so you receive multiple answers for different appointments. There is a serious lack of communication between everyone. One perfect point is to set up the trial appointment they asked me for a few dates. I sent them a few dates and asked them not to place my trial in the first week of June. About a day later I received a 'you have a trial set for... yep the FIRST week of June'. Are you kidding me? I called immediately asking why no one reads the emails before responding. I had to drive two and half hours to do this trial. Another point about their communication... I received emails from two different people on a variety of occasions. And they were often two weeks apart. I received two timelines and the second one was off by 30 minutes. It's a good thing I'm not planning a wedding in a whole other state or anything?! At the trial run both lashes and hair extensions are discussed to be used for the event. Neither are mentioned that there would be an extra fee on top of the already steep $300 hair and makeup cost. PLUS you have to purchase your own extensions for $100. So when I received another invoice calculating additional and surprise fees of $20.00 for lashes.The owner, took it upon herself, that it was alright to text me whenever she please... I consider this an invasion of privacy. The day off we were on time until it was my turn, somehow I ended up 2 hours in the chair which caused the whole rest of the day to run late and chaos ensued. I am sure that the company is ok but some of the girls that work there are not honest. Three weeks before my daughters wedding they cancelled on her...her own cousins..they wanted me to give them $1400 cash a week before the wedding and when I said lets come up with a down payment and I will pay all cash the day of the event they cancelled on my daughter and left her with no one for her whole wedding party. This was four of the girls that work for this company. It was devestating for my daughter the happiest month of her life became her nightmare. read more

Oh my goodness...Christine and Melissa are absolutely amazing!! We had the time of our lives getting all dolled up by these ladies and it was the most fun experience we could've asked for! The one thing my mom asked for throughout the whole wedding planning process was to have all of the bridesmaids stay over at her and Dad's house the night before so we could all get ready together (family tradition). Of course I was excited, so we contacted Brushworx since they are on location and set up an appointment to meet. About 5 minutes into our consultation, my mom and I knew we HAD to work with Christine and Melissa! Not only are they super talented, they are SO MUCH FUN!! We laughed so much that my trial run went an hour and a half over time! When the wedding day came, they showed up on time, with awesome energy ready to rock! They were super accommodating in their set up and made sure we could all be together and hang out while all the girls had their hair and makeup done. I am still fawning over the photos of us all laughing and smiling while getting ready for the big day! It truly was an unforgettable experience. These ladies are professional and crazy talented but above all else, they care so much about their clients. Christine is super sweet and was extremely patient with me when I couldn't decide whether I wanted an up or down style and she took the time to test both and take photos so I could see how it would look. She really helped me feel comfortable in my day-of hair style and I'm so grateful for that. Melissa is a make-up goddess...she helped bring me out of my comfort zone and pick the right look I was searching for and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Brushworx to ALL brides!! I used Brushworx for my daughter's wedding. Were they expensive? Yes, very. But I do believe we got what we paid for. Our wedding party looked extraordinary. Every bridesmaid looked unique and beautiful. The bride looked fabulous. The makeup artists took the time to ask each person exactly how they wanted to look. They looked at photos of hairstyles and makeup on iPads and iPhones that the girls brought with them. The makeup artists showed up at the hotel, ready to work, at 6:45 in the morning. They were kind and pleasant. In the end, the proof was in the wedding photos. I did not have communication problems like the other reviewer - although scheduling our trial session was also a pain. My daughter was an out of town bride. The logistics of that were difficult with everything - dress fittings, food tastings, etc. But Brushworx did work with us and know how to handle stressed-out brides very well. read more
