    1/24/24 - Catering Receipt

I have not eaten anything off their regular menu but I ordered off their Catering Menu for a large group (20 people). Their trays are Huge and reasonably priced. Everyone loved the food. Will be ordering again. Tip: Make sure you have serving utensils. They provide paper plates and regular utensils, but not serving utensils.

Our superbowl feast! Ham & extra cheese pizza, sausage & mushroom calzone, buffalo wings, brownie and pecan pie.

Location: The storefront is tucked back in the North West corner of the complex at the corner of Rimpau & Magnolia Ave there is a Sizzler and McDonalds in the complex. This was my first time trying them and I was ordering for our Super-bowl meal! I called the order in the day prior not knowing how busy they would be on Sunday. The location does not have any seating that I could see so it's takeout only. They had my order all ready for my scheduled pickup time and it was hot and they were just packaging up my wings! Food: I ordered buffalo chicken wings, sausage & mushroom calzone, 10" Ham and cheese (xtra cheese), brownie and a piece of pecan pie. The calzone was very good I personally would like it a bit more crusty on the outside and cooked more on the inside it was slightly doughy. I will ask for that next time. The wings had a great buffalo sauce, it was not to spicy (I am wimpy on hot sauce) but had a gentle kick. I am a carnivore and would have liked to have more drumettes out of the 8 wings there were 2 drumettes. The dipping was very good rich and flavorful. The pizza my wife said it was the best she has has! I would like a little more ham there were thinly sliced pieces. They had lots of extra cheese and it was cooked just fine with a crunchy crust. The desserts I was surprised that they were prepackaged I was kind of expecting fresh ones. However to my surprise the pecan pie from Sara Lee was amazingly delicious! Suggestions: A little more meat on the pizza, cook a little more on the calzone and at least even number of drumettes as wing pieces.

As a new mom, these meals are perfect for me when I want something a step or two up from Chipotle since it's challenging dining in with a baby. I just order online, roll up to one of the pickup parking stalls at the Lazy Dog, and take it home or enjoy in the car hobo-style (my preferred method). They even have impressive TV dinners for $10 (or less if you buy 5 or more) that are housemade, gourmet versions of those retro Hungry Man/Banquet frozen meals of yesteryear. AND WITH BOMBA$$ DESSERTS!! That small upper right hand pocket of foil contains a unique surprise that I live for. So far the pineapple upside down cake has been my fave. But the peanut butter cup brownie is a close second. Wish one came with their butter cake. Honestly my main concern when it comes to TV dinners is what dessert is included. So it was an added bonus that the dinners themselves were higher quality than expected! Lazy Dog made a wise pivot with their brand by capturing a larger demographic of casual diners with these bowls/TV dinners. I hope other chains like Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang's follow suit. Keep it up, LD!

I love that they had a great deal going on. 10 meals for $105. I feel that that is pretty affordable but not only that, some of the meals they provide is so delicious and has lots of flavor. My favorite ones are: Turkey Lasagna (1), Turkey Pasta (2), The Pot Roast & Potatoes (3) & The Loaded Mashed Potatoes were pretty good (4). Some of the meals are slightly salty which I don't mind but others might. I still have some to try which I look forward to because the macros are so good on most of the meals. I feel that this business is so much better than other businesses such as Hello Fresh and anything similar to that. Now, my least favorite meals: Braised Beef with the Polenta (Not a fan of the texture of the Polenta but overall everything is flavorful), Chicken Fajita Bowl (Chicken was so bland & dry and the whole meal does not come together), Get Yo Mac On (No flavor & everything was dry) & All American (It was alright but the sausage was dryyyy). I still look forward to trying the Blackened Salmon, Salmon Alfredo, Steak Fajitas, Cilantro Lime Turkey, Shepard's Pie, Pepper Steak & The Vegan Enchiladas. The only sweets that I have enjoyed so far are the brownies. They are dry (which is expected because of the protein) but they are still delicious. I was not a fan of the protein strawberry shortcakes. As far as the service, the employees are always so welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who struggles to prepare with a meal plan and to definitely give this place a try!

For the main meal, I had crab stuffed ravioli, and my wife had the steak beef bowl, which was enormous and could easily be shared with two people. The ravioli was excellent. The sauce was excellent. The flavor and the subtle sweetness of the crab shined through. My wife's steak bowl was also amazing. The steak was melt in your mouth tender. A very subtle heat in the seasoning from red chili, I believe. Chefs kiss. Our server was amazing and I feel horrible for not remembering her name, the woman who was working the front area was helpful and knowledgeable and just very welcoming. Unfortunately, the food simply sucked and I didn't even finish. The fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil -- you could tell by the dark coloring and overall taste. The gyro was small, expensive for the portion and quality, and the taste was just okay at best. I believe this is a franchise, but I personally won't be trying it again. Bryan was our server and he gave us incredible service; he treated me and my girlfriend like we've been friends for years. I felt comfortable immediately and the atmosphere was relaxing and alive. I ordered a beer and a cocktail. The beer was poured perfectly and the glass was clean, the cocktail was refreshing and bright. We started with some apps, the crispy rice tuna and watermelon tataki and both were fantastic. The crispy rice was a perfect little bite and nailed the texture and spice, while the watermelon tataki was so unique, fun and delicous. For mains, I got the NY strip with potatoes au gratin and my partner got the steak salad. Both steaks were cooked perfectly and had a wonderful balance of peppercorn seasoning to match the balance of fat and meat in the cut. My partner loved her salad and felt that the balsamic was balanced with a hint of sweetness so the dressing wasn't too acidic and bitey. The steak for her salad came on the same plate and was a filet which meant she could enjoy the steak and salad together instead of getting a cold meat or warm, wilted salad. Potatoes came as a little side and were layered perfectly and topped with a sauce that reminded me of a thin alfredo sauce, We finished with the mango coconut pana cotta which was bright and refreshing after a rich meal. Not too sweet or heavy but full of flavor. During our meal, the General Manager, Ignacio made sure to stop by our table (along with all the tables) just to check in with us, make sure that service and food was up to snuff. He had a friendly rapport with his staff and shared some anecdotes about himself and Bryan and left us smiling just before our steaks arrived. I definitely wasn't expecting to be impressed but the food, vibes, decor were all excellent. Oh and the bathrooms were CLEAN! Remember folks, if the bathrooms are dirty, the kitchen probably is too! I would highly recommend to anyone in the area!
