Me and my fiancee reserved a spot on V-day eve. We had heard the hype surrounding this great little Italian restaurant, and wanted to put it to the test. The results, were, well mixed to say the least. We were seated at a tall, somewhat uncomfortable small high-rise wooden table. The menu was incredibly limited, with only about a dozen beers and two dozen wines. Prices were a bit steep; I settled for a mediocre Peroni ($6) and my girlfriend was poured a 1/5 of glass of a modest red wine ($8-10). They provided us with a basket of bread and made us a concoction of balsamic vinegar and olive oil to dip; this was one of the highlights of the meal in all honestly. Our server, Rachel, was very friendly and was by no means the reason why we left dissatisfied. The service overall was pleasant. The dinner options were alright- they offer some variety but you cannot break from their set arrangements. For example, my fiancee asked "to add mushrooms," and our server replied "we cannot do that, the (owner/chef) uses an old recipe and does not want to change it." What? This was obviously not a big deal for us, but what the hell. Adding a single vegetable is impossible? Ok. We moved on, not wanting to disturb the ancient recipe and receive the wrath of Dalesandros. For the actual meal choices, my fiancee selected a special vegetarian lasagna ($19). This isn't THAT unfair of a price, if for the fact it wasn't a single slice of lasagna. She finished it in 5min, and she's not a big eater. I ordered the pesto pasta ($16), which was also very average. Although the serving size was outstanding, the flavor was not impressive. Very bland, doused in far too much olive oil and actually very devoid of the promised "pesto." I ate half and took the rest to-go. It is important to note that from the moment we were served our alcohol and given bread, as well as gave our orders, we only had 5 minutes before our food actually arrived. What I mean is, we felt super RUSHED. We had almost no time to enjoy the bread, talk over the drinks. Very frustrating for what was supposed to be a nice romantic date. It arrived, by our estimation, way too fast. The total bill for 2 people with 2 very small drinks and two entrees came to $55. I understand that doesn't sound too bad for a "nice evening," but the food really was nothing special. I see the hype on here from loyal customers, but this place is not worth the price. The alcohol options are sparse, the entrees large but devoid of classic Italian flavor. The atmosphere could best be described as "cute" but not romantic. Maybe it was because they seated us in the row where all servers had to pass by. We were constantly bombarded by waitresses bumping into the table and trying to squeeze by those sitting at the bar. Dalesandro's continues to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Tulsa. Great patio dining, warm and well worn interior, full bar and occasionally even live music. The lasagna or carbonara are nice every once in awhile, but I usually just order the bowtie pesto combined with the Caesar salad. My wife and I both love their Caesar. They seem to dust it with something like fine bread crumbs that give it this extra little crunch texture. My description is horrible, but trust me on the salad. I heard this was "the place to go for swordfish"! They only serve it on Friday and Saturday so we went for my birthday! This was last April. The service was soo poor that we walked out. It took 25 min to get our drinks and not because the bartender but because our waitress only asked us 10 minutes before. We will have to try it again sometime, hopefully my review will be better. My wife and I went to Dalesandro's for Valentines day. We had reservations and were seated right away. The service was very good. I think we both had the Oliva Olio. From the online menu- "Linguine in olive oil and Our chicken stock, with fresh sweet basil, parsley, onions and garlic topped with Romano cheese and "THE" mushrooms. " The food was very good. The price I seem to recall was somewhere in the $16-$18 range. Trending towards the high side for pasta. I felt like the couple eating at the bar kind of took away from the classiness that I thought Dalesandro's had. Especially for Valentines day. Oh my. I've confessed in previous reviews, that I'm not a pasta fan, and generally don't go to Italian restaurants. But Dalesandro's? Any day, any time. In fact, I had a reservation there the night I went into labor with my daughter that I was sorry to have to cancel. My fave? The carpaccio. It rivals...no it beats..... any I've had anywhere in the world. Really. My standard meal is the delicious caesar salad with sauteed red peppers and a carpaccio appetizer. I don't share. We were able to make a reservation on a Thursday night for a group of six at 6:30pm. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelming. We were seated right away and ordered drinks. The whole table ordered Caesar salad to start. I absolutely love their Caesar salad! It is extremely garlicky and authentic. If you are sensitive to garlic do not order their Caesar! My husband and I split the lasagna and it was fabulous! The portions are large! Everyone at the table enjoyed their dinner. Just ok....the food quantity was very generous, but the tastiness didn't warrant the cost. Our server was friendly and attentive. The menu and drink list were minimal and limited. Only three appetizers, none of which sounded appealing to me. There were six or seven entrees. I had the carbonara, and it was garnished with far too much black pepper for my liking. We split bread pudding for dessert and again the serving size was plentiful but it wasn't exceptional by any means. The bread was yummy as was their Cesar salad (not a traditional Cesar dressing). It was/is definitely worth trying, but I doubt I would return. The food simply wasn't outstandingly memorable in my opinion. read more

I have been meaning to try Delesandro's for years. I have always known about it but just never went. My husband and I decided to try it out for valentines day! We made a reservation for a later time because that is all that they had available but when we got there only about 5 tables were occupied. We were offered a high table or booth. Since I am kind of short, I usually go for the booth. The booth wasn't really that comfortable but I am not one to judge a restaurant by how comfortable the seating is. We were sat by the most obnoxious table in the restaurant. It wasn't just the table but the couple at the bar that they conversed with the whole time. They honestly should have just joined together instead of yelling across to each other because my husband and I couldn't hear each other. Not the restaurants fault but it put a damper on our visit. Our server was very attentive and friendly. My water never ran out. We were served a basket of bread and some butter. We decided to order the asparagus as an appetizer. It was amazing! And the balsamic on the asparagus was really good to dip the bread in. For dinner my husband ordered their famous dish, the swordfish piccata! It was amazing and the portion was huge! The $28(I think) price tag is high but reasonable for a very generous serving of pasta and fish. I think next time we will order that and split it. I ordered the Oliva Olio it was simple and good but I found needed a little bit of pepper. And I wish it had more parsley but that is just personal preference. At the end of the meal we were served chocolate covered strawberries which I am usually not a fan of but they dipped them in white chocolate which was so much better than the usually dark or milk chocolate! The menu is not large which is always a good signed because that means that can put more focus on what there offer. I can see why the restaurant has been around for so long. I would love to go back when another time and hopefully be able to hear myself think. I want to try their lemon cello which I have heard is great. read more

It is a quaint and simple spot in an area where few other restaurants are located on the outskirts of downtown Tulsa, but it is worth the side trip. It seems like the kind of place that would be right at home in New York City and every entree we've tried has been splendid. I love the carbonara and my husband adores the linguine and while the portion sizes are large, we somehow manage to finish every bite almost every time. My lasagne was half burnt and everyone else's food was not good. Today's experience was very very poor. I don't know if that's a sign that the kitchen doesn't know how to plan for a Friday night dinner service or if they only make a limited amount of entree's to sell? Either way - I've never experienced anything like that. It made my ordering process stressful and not very pleasant to have to keep chosing options on the fly. The caeser sald was, as many people have commented on, very good. It was a tad heavy on the dressing but the greens looked and tasted fresh and the serving sizes were plentiful. I ended up ordering the lasagna, which came recommended by the waitress after my first 3 attempts at dinner choices were shot down. It was just....ok. It wasn't hot when it was served which was an immediate turnoff. I was not that impressed. My husband ordered the swordfish special. It was swimming in the butter/wine sauce and the bottom half of the "grilled" fish was practically burnt. Again, not impressed. If I'm going to spend $30+ on an entree it should be served hot and not be over cooked. The only saving grace to the meal was the chocolate mouse dessert with oreo crust. That was pretty killer. Too bad the 2 cups of coffee that were served along with it were cold. I don't really get the hype over this place. The carpaccio is amazing and the Cesar salad is delicious...very fresh with the right amount of lemon in the dressing, maybe a little overpowering for some, but it gives the salad a great bite! Dalesandro's is the best "authentic" Italian food in town. Located in the SoBo district, this family owned and operated restaurant is a winner. I went to Lee Elementary with Sunny Dalesandro and went to high school with half of the wait staff so I feel at home there for sure. They have recently implicated a 6 pm or 8 pm seating which I'm sure works great for the wait staff and chefs, but it can be a bit crowded because usually each seating is full. It is a great date place and also really good for large groups. When the weather is nice, the patio is fabulous. Also, it's in walking distance to Oscars and Vintage 1740 which are both great places for a nightcap. If you have room in your stomach. The menu consists of 4 apps, 3 soups, the infamous Caesar salad and 7 entrees, with the swordfish picatta being featured as the 8th entree on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a pretty good wine list and also beer selections and a full bar. I do have to give them props for their service. It is impeccable. The servers stay very busy, usually handling large sections, but they don't miss a beat. And the hostess can be seen helping out with back service, such as refilling water and bread. Anyway, back to the grub. I always start with the Caprese. It is so light and delicious. Then, the table Caesar is a must. Emphasis on the "table" part. Basically, don't be the only one eating it or you will be alone by the end of the night. The garlic and anchovy flavor is intense, but delightful. Moral of the story is, if you are planning on making out with someone at the end of the night and you have eaten the Caesar, make sure they have too. As for my entrée selection, if it's a weekend you can bet I will be enjoying the swordfish. It is absolutely wonderful. And light enough where you can eat the whole thing and still be able to drink until 2 a.m. Other good choices are the Linguine with Meatballs or the Pollo Arrosto. The linguini has a great spice to it. Like just enough for a little kick. It is surely enough for 2 meals. The Pollo Arrosto is enough for 2 meals as well featuring half of a chicken that couldn't be any moister. I am not a fan of the Brodo. Not because it isn't good, it's just not my taste. I have never had dessert there because I simply cannot eat another bite when I leave. Another thing that is great about Dalesandro's is that when you go eat there with a group of 10 on New Year's Eve and one couple gets too drunk and stays the night with you and then leaves ALL their leftovers in YOUR refrigerator, you can survive off of it for days! Went here a few weeks ago. Went on a Thurs. Night. Made a reservation for four, but didn't need to. Restaurant was quiet with a nice ambience. Service was pleasant. I ordered the pasta shells, husband had the lasagne. Can't remember what our friends had, but we all ordered something different. We all had the same opinion. The food was way too spicy - the sinus-clearing, nose-running, eye-watering kind of spicy. It was not my kind of thing. I always think food that is too spicy is masking poor flavor. I think they use a lot of HOT Italian sausage. And apparently in almost every dish! Because of that, I was disappointed with our experience and will not initiate a return visit.
