I judge restaurants by the number of locals and this place was packed with them. The servers are friendly and fast. The restaurant is large with several dining rooms. I had the fried catfish platter regular size. It was probably the best catfish I have ever had. Caution the regular is four filets whish were good size. Next time I am going down in platter size. The fries were hot and properly cooked. Their coleslaw is excellent and I am told it is mayo free either way it is really good. The food prices here is also very good. 2nd visit and pretty much a 5* visit! The service was perfect the food was excellent x2! Shrimp plate a fried pork chop plate ...,was super good and plentiful. Salad bar provided all the right items ....,didn't like the salad serving bowls still soaking wet from the kitchen, that's a no no. I normally order a chicken breast because it's the only thing that tastes good really. This time I was hungry so I ordered two grilled chicken breast. When it came out, I seen that they had just cut a regular piece of chicken breast in half and charged me for two. I will not eat here anymore. The only people who eat here are 70-80 year olds, and folks know what that means about a restaurant.. the food is bad. Been by here several times over the past 12 years and it wasn't good timing for us to stop. Parking lot has always been full and now we know why. Lots of locals, young and old. Friendly staff. We were seated quickly. Our server Morgan was very kind and knowledgeable. My wife ordered the fried shrimp and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered the steak and potato and the potato was fabulous. The steak, however, could have used some seasoning. My wife did not care for the coleslaw because it was too sweet. The salad bar was absolutely amazing and everything was fresh and flavorful. I got the deluxe shrimp and scallop plate...huge portion of both served with fries. I love Dale's. Ever since I met my wife who is from this area we have been coming to the two Dale's locations. We just recently stopped in with the family on a Saturday afternoon and the wait was non-existent. We put two tables together and the staff was real nice about accommodating 10 of us. The service was quick and friendly. I don't think there were any mistakes for the whole table. I ordered a small seafood platter and it is two meals worth of food. The servings here will make you a big ole' boy. I'm not complaining though. The hush puppies are heavenly and the sweet tea is truly southern. I tend to go for half and half so I can stave off diabetes. The deviled crabs are superstars BTW. You should get at least one. Prices are not bad considering you will leave with a big full belly. So we came down camping with the grandkids. It had been many years the last time we stopped in. Didn't have to wait to get in. Ordered food quick and food came out quick. The tea was awesome and that was the best thing I had. I ordered the deluxe seafood wife had small seafood. I ate 5 shrimp two oysters and 3 scallops and a corner off the fish. And one bite of the deviled crab. The rest I brought back to campground and threw it away. Wife ate a few shrimp and a bite or two of fish and had to throw hers away. Was very disappointed in the food. Mostly older folks but beyond that everything was great. I would not recommend eating there unless you like greasy greasy food. It's weird sometimes the food is really good and no soaked in oil and sometimes the food tastes liked it was cooked in old oil. The service however is very good. The wait staff stay busy but are always friendly and accommodating. The business is very clean and neat. I just wish the standard of cooking was a constant. I would still recommend them. read more

Last time I'll ever dine here. Went with a large group. Waitress only took half of the group's orders. So half were eating while rest were ignored. Multiple mistakes made with every order at my table, heard from others in our party that same happened at their tables. Our party was in a separate adjoining room, and I had to flag down a busboy in the main dining room in order to notify a waitress that half of the group were waiting for someone to take their orders! Not sure how a restaurant can book a room for a party of over 30 people and not staff enough waitpersons to handle that large of a group. Fail! Sweet tea was "sort of" sweet with little ice. Had one refill when food was brought, was never offered a refill again through entire meal. The single basket of hush puppies placed on our table were not fresh from the fryer as they were soft & chewed like rubber. It was like they had been under the heat lamp for a while--not crunchy nor fresh. Ordered a deluxe seafood. Asked for no Cole slaw as I hate soggy seafood. Yet the seafood on bottom of plate was soggy and sweet, so slaw was put on plate then taken off. The plate was piled high with food. After the huge mound of fries was pushed aside, I realized they were to there to hide the skimpy amount of seafood on the plate. The portion size of what I received was sad. Four oysters, ten shrimp, three scallops--lukewarm, greasy and heavy. The flounder was thin and tasted extremely fishy. Not sure if it was cooked thoroughly or not. Most flounder when properly cooked is light, flaky, and melts in your mouth. Dale's flounder was heavy, dense, and chewy. After two bites, I gave up on it. To be honest, the seafood seemed to have been cooked in fryer oil that wasn't hot enough. The massive mound of fries mentioned above were warm with a pale, yellow hue. I like fries which are hot and have crispy golden texture. My girlfriend ordered broiled shrimp and scallops with a baked potato. Since there were no fries, the portions of both the scallops and shrimp seemed generous compared to what I had gotten on my plate. The meats were overcooked to an inner tube-like texture. The potato was warm, mealy, and dry. If I had seen a waitress after we tried the food, we would have sent it back. As I said earlier, finding our waitress, or any wait staff member, was like finding a unicorn or Sasquatch. And at that point of the family gathering, which was wrapping up while those of us to be served so late were just getting our food, I would have asked for it as a takeout order. As we walked through the main dining room to the register, we noticed that it seemed understaffed as well. So, either some of the waitresses failed to show up to work, or they did not schedule enough people to handle the crowd they had that night. As I was paying the check, the hostess asked how everything was, which seemed to be a rote recitation for her, because when I said that the food was barely edible, portions skimpy and the service was horrible, she said "I'm glad you enjoyed it!" My girlfriend and I looked at each other in disbelief, and she asked me if the woman was totally deaf. I repeated that the food was not good, that the portions were almost nonexistent, and that the service sucked. She just looked at me and said that she hoped I would give them another chance later. I said I would never be back. And her reply was rather snippy and rude, along the lines of "fine, don't then". It took great restraint not to fly off the handle and say what I felt like saying loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear. Reading some of this place's Google, Yelp, & TripAdvisor reviews, my experience wasn't very uncommon. If you want excellent seafood and friendly service, go just a short hop down the road to Adam's Seafood. read more

We went there to eat oysters. They were sold out. We ordered seafood. Scollops and fried flounder. Had no taste at all. We ordered steak medium well. It was so dry we could not eat it. We also ordered chicken tenders. They were chewy. The waitress replaced the tinders with a burnt hamburger. Could not eat it. Food is terrible, but service is very good.
