Well... my normal coffee spot was closed. So, adventure we went. Got in around 11:30 on Sunday. When we walked in the staff were on their phones and the greeting was underwhelming and rude. The shop stunk, not like coffee either, it smelt moist. Kinda like wet dog minus the dog. All of that aside, I carried on. The staff were rude, with an overall energy that I was by somehow doing them wrong. The menu prices were also wrong, and I was just pointed to look at a sign that was off to the side and not clear either. It only said minimum $0.50 extra on menu items, which the staff blamed on inflation, and I paid an extra $1.50 for my drink. After I got my coffee I couldn't find the sleeves that were hidden behind stuff and the staff were not helpful, other than saying they were there. The coffee is okay, maybe around 3 or 4 stars. The good. Friendly staff, cozy comfortable setting, decent prices and freshly looking roasted beans. They also have some breakfast pastries and a few other basic items to eat. They also have some neat looking local art. They have plenty of seating and open at 630. The not so good. When I ordered my drink, an iced mocha, I asked that it not be too sweet. Instead it came out tasting like a chocolate shake with a hint of coffee. I still drank it because I wanted my morning caffeine but it was SUPER sugary. I wouldn't order it again. They also seem to be one of the last coffee shops I been at lately that is using styrofoam cups. I had brought my own , but the majority of the people sitting around me had these type. We were staying at the Hampton next door. Even though the coffee is good there we had to stop and try something from Dakota. We each got a 20oz. fresh roasted coffee $2.49. They roast and sell their own beans so we thought it should be good and it was. It was delicious and had a very good fresh flavor. They also sell their fresh roasted coffee by the bag so we also bought a one pound bag of Columbian $12.95. Can't wait to get home top try it. read more

It smelled really weird upon walking in, not a good coffee smell, and the first thing I saw was bottles and bottles of Torani syrup on shelves to the right. That immediately turned me off of buying any of their specialty drinks. Realistically, I am certain that many coffee shops use this brand, but I just don't want to see something that I can buy from Walmart when I walk into a coffee shop. I'd rather pretend there is something of better quality being squirted into my drink. So husband and I decided to both go for plain lattes, mine regular, his decaf. While we waited, I checked out their whole bean selection. They have a ton of flavored options, like Pastry Cream and Southern Pecan, if you're into that sort of thing. They also have a decent selection of regular coffee, light to dark roasts. Their beans look the way they should, and their dark roasts (which I prefer) look pretty much ideal. I didn't buy any but would have considered it if I wasn't already well-stocked for the time being. According to their website, the beans are locally roasted. Our drinks were up fairly quickly, and though I really wanted to like Dakota and have a local coffee shop to support, I must be honest - the drinks were not awful, but they were definitely worse than Starbucks' mediocrity. Also, what is with the styrofoam Dixie cups and lids? I know I'm being a snob, but where did I just buy my drink from? A gas station? On the other hand, the inside is cozy enough to make you want to stay for a few and hang out. I always enjoy a worn out old couch in a coffee shop. The service was also very friendly. Will we be back though? No...not to this location at least. I can make a better drink at home. read more

Had coffee there before and it was delicious, although the drive thru staff is not the friendliest. Ordered through door dash this morning, a white mocha, cinnamon roll, and blueberry muffin. The cinnamon roll was made yesterday at the earliest, with like no attempt to revive it at all, rock hard, freezing cold and they didn't put any icing on it. The muffin was old and dry, both pastries completely inedible. I am not a picky person and I am not one to leave a negative review. My hopes are that this reaches the owners and they can correct this issue to with pastries because now, more then ever is when they need their customers return business. I'm just baffled. I would like to try them again but I am not willing to spend that kind of money on a potential unpleasant experience again. Should have stuck with Mr.Coffee Bean. read more

I have never been to Dakota before, but went on a whim one day. I ordered a frozen mocha....it tasted like frozen chocolate milk. I wasn't impressed. I decided to give them another try when I took my children there for an after school treat. We took a bit to study the menu before we went to the drive thru window. We ordered ice cream....vanilla....they didn't have that. Then we attempted to order a rainbow shaved ice.....they didn't have that either. No apologies from the lady at the window, she just nonchalantly said "we don't have that". My advice....don't have something on your menu that you don't keep stocked in your establishment! This coffee shop is a hidden away jewel. By far the best cup of coffee I've had in Enterprise. Far surpasses any other shop in Enterprise that serves coffee. I got a cup of straight up joe. When I asked for a dairy alternative they had three; almond, soy and coconut. A lactose intolerant dream not commonly found around these parts. This coffee was GOOD. The aroma flavor and consistency were on point. It did not taste burnt stale or otherwise mediocre like so many cups of coffee I've had since moving here. Yes, I am a coffee snob. The coffee: Not bad. They'll serve it in plastic/paper cup, which I expect in a cheap hotel, but what they put in the cup isn't bad. The Service: Hit and miss. I've been studying here for a couple weeks and there's a cheerful, hardworking, and overall pleasant barista and then there's another that talks on the phone while preparing drinks and invites friends behind the counter so that he/they can have distracting conversations via drive through window with other friends. I could go on, but out of respect for what might simply be Alabama culture, I'll stop. Bottom line is that the employer should know that you have an employee that's cleaning (actually cleaning when not serving) and then another that's leaning. Please recognize your good employee. This is the type of person you want representing your brand. Ambiance: If you still believe the Earth is only 6000 years old, flat, and the center of the universe, you might feel comfortable with the random conversations that occur. I frequent this place often. Baristas are nice and friendly. Coffee is superb and the atmosphere is funky and artsy. The thing I do not like about this coffee shop is the owner/ manager castigates his employees in front of customers. I have been there twice when he has done this and I am not going to return to the shop. The man talks to his employees like dogs says "I've done this for ten years." He may have had reason to criticize his employees but as a customer I don't want to hear it. Afterwards the employees whisper about his actions and what they did wrong and it throws the whole coffee shop vibe off. Really good coffee. I got whatever the barista said was good. I doubt I could pronounce it if I tried. I compare the quality to that of Starbucks but it cost a little less. She was very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and others there were smiling so it was a good atmosphere. The only thing that I noticed to be a little off was the cup it was served in. I expected a branded cup but instead I got a Dixie cup like the ones they sell in bulk down at Winn Dixie. Other than that off Branding foe-par, everything was great. I go every now and then to Dakota Coffee before work because it's in a convenient location and I commute to Enterprise. It's always a mega hit or a complete miss. I never write reviews, ever, because I am someone who has spent over a decade in the service industry, but today I have to write a review. Giving 3 stars for past service that was speedy and delicious, but 0 stars for my coffee this morning. I ordered a 16 oz Iced White Mocha with almond milk. The girl working handed me my coffee, except it was hot. I gave it back, I apologized for possible lack of communication. The girl rolled her eyes at me, dumped out/threw away coffee and then went back to remake my drink. Another girl handed me a new coffee and was very kind, I apologized once more and she told me it was no big deal. When I pull off and taste my coffee, it was straight almond milk. I'm a cook, I know my tastes, and there wasn't a trace of coffee in that 16oz $6.00 "coffee" I was supposed to receive. I'm assuming it was some sort of trick or prank because they had to remake my coffee, but if not then someone doesn't know how to make coffee. Probably will not be going back to this Dakota because I never know if my coffee is going to be good, bad, or straight up milk. Hate to see it because it's actually a really cool place to study and hang out which Dothan lacks these types of locations. read more

BLUF: this would've been a 3 because it's average but everytime I go here they are always cleaning (floors, windows, glass, tables, inside, outside). The same cannot be said for Panera with a staff of 4-7 and the place is filthy! Coffee and capps are all pretty standard, scones were homemade and delicious. This place has awesome Coffee and a very friendly (and attractive) staff. When I am in town, this is where I go for good coffee. Try the Mocha, no whip cream. Just a caution: I would avoid the sugar-free stuff. They use the same syrup flavorings as all the other Coffee shops and the fake taste lingers like all other Coffee shops. Is not the shops fault (I don't know if there are other brands out there) but that Sugar-free brand of coffee flavoring is horrendous. read more

I needed to conduct some offsite business meetings and what better place than a cozy coffee shop! I looked their website up to see what they offered as far as food, beverage, and space - lots of coffee and non-coffee drinks, pastries, and ice cream as well as long tables, sofa, cozy chairs, and cafe tables. I couldn't find wifi information on their website or FB page so I reached out and they responded quickly and kindly that they have free open wifi. Perfect! I arrived, posted up at a longer table so my trainees could see the laptop comfortably and placed my order. The coffee was delicious with a nice roast and they provide half and half upon request. I later ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese that was perfectly toasted and cream cheese was at the perfect spreadable yet still cold temperature. My employees enjoyed their beverages and the comfort provided by training at this off-site and cozy location. read more

Likely not typical so don't let that persuade you. I drink just regular coffee -- nothing fancy. Theirs was "ok", but priced with Starbucks or Panera. Refills are $1.49. Only downfalls would be is that their price is a bit more expensive than the other local coffee shop and they do take a long time to make your coffees. When traveling I always look for a local coffee spot on route to support. Dakota was an easy place to pop into to answer some work emails. Walking in was uncomfortable. A gallery of older men were congregated on the left side in the couches and chairs and immediate stopped talking when I walked in and stared. Small town- ok weird- and certainly as a woman, uncomfortable. The staff was friendly, and helpful. My drink was made quickly. I sat down and opened my laptop. The banter quickly ramped up loudly among the men and soon a woman also joined them. For a town with a church on every corner I have never heard so much hateful gossip and outright meanness. I grew up in the south- I know this culture. I put on my headphones to drown it out- debating if I should confront how saddened I was to stop in their little town and hear such loud and nasty talk about others. It felt as if they were holding court and they wanted everyone to hear. I know no one they spoke about, but the fact that they would so publicly speak of anyone's business with such gusto made my heart ache. This is your culture Dakota Coffee- this is what patrons walk into. It is uncomfortable- it made me want to leave- and maybe that's ok with you. I feel bad for your employees because you are losing customers if anyone has felt like me- and they are losing tips. read more
