The owner of Daisy Doos and Dudes was probably the most unwelcoming, rude woman I have ever met. Her tone was extremely uninviting and very unwelcoming. Based on previous reviews, I thought I would give her a chance, but I should have heeded the warnings. It's unfortunate because my daughter loved the salon itself. If your child has texture hair. Look else where for services. We paid 40$ for a wash and "blow dry" my daughters hair looked worse than it looked coming in. Online was not clear on services. We booked a haircut, blow dry, little strands of glitter. I prepped my daughters hair the night before so it wasn't like they had to do a lot to work with it. When she finished and noticed I was not happy.. she simply said for next time make sure I add flatiron on my order.. her next client was here.. so there was nothing she could do. We took our twelve month old son to Daisy Doos and Dudes for his first haircut. It was very easy to book our appointment online and we were given reminders on our phone of his appointment which I'm sure will be helpful when haircuts become a regular thing for him. We arrived a few minutes early for a ten o'clock appointment and experienced almost no wait. Our stylist, Samantha, was efficient and patient with our squirmy wormy. In total, I think it took maybe 15 minutes and we are pleased with the way his big boy haircut looks and with how well he was treated. I also appreciated that the salon seemed to be low sales pressure. Samantha only recommended a product for his wispy hair after we asked about it. Many reviewers have commented on the certificate you're given after the haircut. It is printed on card stock, your child's name is written with marker and there is a square cut out near the bottom for the hair they gather for you to be displayed in a small plastic bag. It isn't something I would display on a wall, but it is fine for sticking in a scrapbook and at $20 I really was more concerned that my son had a good experience. We will most likely be returning here in a few weeks after his hair has grown out even though it is a 30 minute drive for us. read more

My twins are nonverbal and I was worried about how the haircuts would go but Alyssa made it look easy. We had an appointment to get our 6 year olds hair cut. We were sent a confirmation message just like previous times it said the appointment was for 11/5 at 5:25pm. We showed up at around 5:10 15 minutes early for the appointment only to be told sorry your appointment was for 5 and even though our shop is empty and we are standing around not doing anything we won't cut your child's hair and will charge you for it. The owner is rude and condescending and has no care about children or their feelings. She originally told our daughter come quick we will get you in then turned around and said on second thought no we won't Once again getting her hopes up just to crush them. Not only that but they will refuse to own up to the mistakes that they and their system make. If it wasn't the only place that supposedly caters to children they wouldn't still be in business. They charge $25 for a mediocre haircut and we only went there because our daughter liked the sparkles and chairs. Do yourself a favor and instead take your child to Ulta in holyoke where for the same price you can have your child's haircut by actual professional hairdressers who care about their customers and go out of their way to make it enjoyable not these second rate hacks that care more about pushing your kid in and out as fast as possible with a sub par haircut. I debated writing a review but then I was reading all the negative reviews about having no patience with their children etc. I called in originally to book an app. She asked me to give her a little back history of my daughter. My daughter is 3 and has curly hair. She is mixed but that has nothing to do with her hair type since I'm Italian and she has the EXACT same hair as me when I was a child. She kinda was dismissive towards me on the phone claiming that they're booked and to look online. I was able to get an app when I did go on. Also side note I ONLY chose here because it's the only kids place for haircuts and you get a first haircut certificate. When booking online it asks for extra info to help them. I stated its her first haircut and so she'll be scared and she has coarse curly hair. When I came in she said she remembered me from the phone call. She proceeded to look at her hair and said that maybe I should take my daughter to a salon that "specializes in her hair type" like wtf??!! What's her hair type??!!! I can tell you. She has coarse curly hair like me and that is all!!! When she made that comment it rubbed me the wrong way but I bit my tongue and said she'll be fine insisting we're getting it done there. To me her comment (how I took it and I feel like anyone else would in my shoes) is that I should be taking my daughter to a hair salon that handles black/ mixed children. YES my daughters mixed but her hair isn't the way it is because of that. Anywayyyy like I was saying I was rubbed the wrong way. My daughter cried getting her hair washed but as her mother I soothed her.Once in the chair my daughter did amazing!!!! she just buried her head in my chest hugging me while I stood in front of her. She was a champ!!! I felt like the women was rushing the cut and while brushing my daughters hair. I had to remind her to get pieces of my daughters hair since it was her first haircut and when she gave me the certificate after Seeing it I felt like she quickly/sloppily wrote her name on a chinch certificate. It was rushed and messy so now I'll be buying and remaking my own. I get cashed out and felt like it was high but wanted to get out of there. When I looked in the car I noticed she charged me 25 EXTRA for a "tangle" fee. I called the salon while I sat outside. Called twice and she didn't pick up so I left a message because I wanted a break down and wanted to speak to her specifically to why I was charged more and wasnt given a heads up. Wasn't till 5 hours later someone else calls me. I explained my frustration and they just said she'll leave her a message but for what??!! Whats that gonna do me??!! To sum up my story I think it's "FU%*#%G BULL%^*TTT that my daughter was charged EXTRA for a "tangle fee" ONE, TWO I wasn't let known ahead of time so I was blindsided and THREE she was being penalized for having curly hair!!!!!! Sorry shes not a blonde straight hair little girl!" And you had to actually do a little work like brush her hair. To be charged extra and more then the actual hair cut JUST because She has curly hair is bull!!!! I'll never go back again!!!! And my real rate would be in the negative if I could for experience!!!!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would! Absolutely horrendous service for birthday parties!! Owner Samantha didn't apologize for rushing us out of the birthday room,we had to sing happy birthday and cut the cake out in the waiting area. She is rude didn't even greet us when we walked in. She only had two staff member working on three girls! It should've been three staff members. She is absolutely unprofessional and so are some of the staff members such as the one she sent to rush us out. It could have been a quick process and we could been out on time if she had more staff members. I've been coming here for years since my daughter was 2 years old for different services but unfortunately will not be back ever again, due to such a horrendous experience. Save your money and go elsewhere! Way to ruin a child's birthday party if you couldn't handle having parties back to back due to lack of st you should've never booked it for that time! not worth the almost 200 paid! Booked the appointment online for my 2.5 year old that HATES having his hair touched. My son screamed, cried and tried to get out of the chair during the entire haircut. Kayla was very sweet and accommodating. She didn't make us feel bad for him being upset. She allowed us to stand right by him so he would be more calm and she worked around me when I calmed him right in front of her chair. Thank you so much for being so kind and understanding! We have been coming here for years and we love it and the owner. It's a small business and we are happy to support it. We have 3 daughters and Daisy Doo's is part of their lives. We have had them do birthday parties and dance recital up Doo's and have always been pleased. This is what my nine year old says... I had a very bad experience here, not,only was the staff unprofessional, they were rude, rushed and nipped my child's ear! I was apauled no one seemed to care, they give a certificate with a lock of hair, they spelled my sons name wrong and when we pointed it out the the 14 year old boy who filled it out as they were "very busy" he proceeded to cross it out and write over it! Almost anywhere gives you a nice certificate, just wish I had not chosen this place as my child's first hair cut. Will never return read more

We had a pretty good experience here with our twins' first haircuts. Our boy's haircut is great but our girl's is pretty choppy and uneven. Not the worst I've seen but it is definitely noticeable. The place is really cute but I do wish they had the cars or whatever for the kids to sit in instead of putting them on top of a bunch of cushions that are designed to look like old phone books. Kinda weird. The pedi area looks cute though and I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to bring there. The staff members who were there were both really nice and patient with our toddlers too. We would return again but would maybe ask for the woman who did my son's haircut to do both. read more

My wife and I had a great experience. Our 2year old had always been a handful getting haircuts. I would literally have to sit in the chair and hold him while he screamed. The girl that cut his hair here... Wendy I think her name was did an outstanding job. Not only did the cut look good but not one tear was shed and he was happy about getting it done. Took our son here for his first hair cut two weeks ago; the girl who did it did a great job for my son being only 10 months old! Prices are kind of high though, I mean $20+ tip for a baby hair cut, thats a lot. We only got a piece of paper for a certificate with a lock of hair saved in it. read more

Brought my daughter here for a trim , very simple straight across the bottom , no layers or angles and ended up with pieces that are longer than the rest and middle portion shorter, very uneven! My daughter sat very still so cant blame it on a moving child 25.00 for a cut that's uneven and the staff not so professional, I will not go back! read more

Very rushed job for what it cost, and Don't have them do your hair if curly. I asked for some layers to bring healthy bounce back to my daughters hair and they sheared it!! Since they make parents sit over away from hair cutting area, I did not see them doing this. Her hair is now a frizz ball and hangs down heavy. Will not return. Horrible. Took my 10 month old son for his first haircut. When we walked in, we were told to head over to the styling chair. The chair was covered in someone else's hair and was not brushed off. I had to do it. We sat down, with him on my lap. Our stylist opted not to cover us with the apron. My son was scared and started crying. The hair that she was cutting, was sticking to his face and going in his mouth. She just kept going. I had to ask for a rag or something to help get the hair out of his mouth. The receptionist never offered to help. She just sat there. My husband had to go into the bathroom and get paper towels. For being a place designed for kids, this place really comes up short. i have been to this salon many times. it is always clean. the staff is very professional and caring. working with very young children is difficult at best and i have witnessed the patience of all the staff. the children who are a little older , seem to have fun with the interaction of the staff and they are treated with respect and their fears are taken into account. as for their prices , you get what you pay for and the staff and owner are entitled to make a living. as for the staff, if they are cutting , it is the law to be licensed. as a client , you have the right to see their license. there are those who you can never make happy. but whenever we go, we walk away with smiles on our faces. i have also gotten gift cetificates for gifts here because i trust them to do a good job. read more
