And this Marshalls is not getting the quality merchandise they used to get / years ago. Women's clothing is almost a disaster. Fabric, construction, wearability after repeated washing, poor poor poor. I now rate this dept a one star. I stopped looking.. Luggage: used to be one of their top departments where every now and then you found quality labels and some very good construction. Rate a 3 star. Men's clothing you must read labels, examine fabric construction quality VERY carefully i rate a 4 star. All shoes are simply terrible, a one star. Don't even look. Women's lingerie under garments: HUGE drop in quality . Bras have inferior non stretching elastic, most of inventory has manufacturing defects ( must try on), very poor materials. Rate one star. Women's sleep wear: hunt VERY carefully, this was a top dept. rate 3-4 star. Read labels, examine quality of fabrics carefully. Bedding towels: this WAS a 5 star area, now 2-3. VERY high prices, very poor boring selection of prints styles colors. HUGE disappointment. Decorative/ kitchen/ housewares: one of the only areas which is still good. Hunt very carefully, some prices are TOO high. Rate 3-5 star Food products: WAS my favorite, now a 4 star. watch out for very high prices. Some items are poor low quality mfg trying to copy the " look" of famous $$ brands. Lotions /hair products/ face creams/ soaps: The MOST drastic change of all with many products disguised with copy cat labels of expensive brands WHEN in fact... they are poorly made cheaply in CHINA where ingredients for safety etc are poorly monitored. Take GREAT care what you apply to your face. Rate one star. These changes have happened very very fast in the last 18 months- 2 years. Read your sunday sale fliers for bargains at Target, Macy's, Walgreen Target's cosmetics have improved a lot and at decent price points. Marshalls is trying to increase their profits by stocking with pretty packaged decorated designed colored " pretend" products made very poorly in China. READ labels VERY carefully. Take more time to hunt CAREFULLY. There are still some good buys, just not as many.

I didn't want to pay $10 shipping and saw we had a store about 15 miles from home. I placed an online order to pick up in store and I was amazed how amazing this store was. It's like a Marshalls/TJ max but way more stocked and larger. I love TJ Max and marshalls but it is slim pickings. I spent $140 when I just planned to pick up my online order lol. I came home and told my husband I have a new favorite store.

I truly wanted to try the pre-made foods. We walked in and the lights were dimmed. It felt more like I was walking into an art gallery than an Asian grocery store. No one shouting. No funky smells. The produce section was what I walked into first. I was met with 4 green onions, 2 onions, a bag of bean sprouts, and a few fruits but all the produce were all wilted. At least everything else was neatly organized. Then we went to the sauce area, then to the ramen, then to snacks and so forth. All the products were at least 25% or more, higher in price than what's available in the grocers in St. Paul. Yes, you're paying more for the ambiance. Make the drive over to the hundreds of other Asian grocery stores there. I don't even live close and I make the effort to do my big grocery shopping in St. Paul for the price and variety. Anyway, I didn't see any or much SE Asian grocery items that would help me cook my dishes. Most items were catered to East Asian cuisine. Their precooked food area was sad. The pre-cooked rice looked mushy. The breads were dried and flaky. Disappointed to say the least. As an Asian person, I wouldn't frequent the establishment even in desperate times.

So I gassed up with some cheap fuel, bought a vacuum that I probably don't need (Costco, amiright?) and swung into United Noodles with my ramen recipe. The store is immaculate and well organized. The woman working the counter was super helpful and showed me where all my ingredients were located. They have an impressive selection of Asian and Hawaiian brands. Don't get me wrong; they're very nice decorations and very affordable, ranging from embroidered tea towels to garland to crystal ornaments and larger decor, but that's pretty much ALL that was there today.
