I dug on and came up with a new set of lightweight pants with an over shirt designed by the gap and a beautiful, pale sage green color, which looked very restful. I thumbed through the offerings and also found a comfy cozy sweater jacket made of a soft fleece for those times when the heater just isn't enough. I headed for checkout, and on the way, found sunscreen, perfect for enjoying the rest of my stay in Palm Springs. Good value is always to be found here as well as some of the fresh looks in the market.

I had the receipt, and I simply wanted to exchange it. However, the manager, Steven/Stephen, told me he could not process the return because the item was purchased at the Palm Desert store. I find it unreasonable that HomeGoods would refuse an exchange for a defective item purchased at another HomeGoods location, especially when the customer has a receipt. I have been a long-term TJX/HomeGoods customer, and I have never had an experience like this before. I do not know whether this is a company policy or a store-level decision, but either way, it reflects poorly on the brand. A customer should not be turned away over a defective $4.99 item with proof of purchase. The cashier was trying his best to get some help with no luck. So us and the folks (very nice people and far more patient than I!) are getting a bit annoyed. It's been fifteen minutes for us, no idea how long the other couple had been waiting. I went outside and called the store, and a woman answered and said that I and another couple are at the register and need some help. OK was about all she had to say. Another ten minutes pass, now the other couple is calling the store we're standing in and to please come assist us all, customers and cashier alike. Finally along comes "Summer" , clearly unhappy, less than friendly. Saying they were "in a meeting." Seriously? There are cameras everywhere, the cashier had been requesting help over their radios and they were too busy in their #^%* meeting? Are you kidding me?
