I tagged along with a friend who wanted to purchase Christmas cards to hand out. He ended up getting several bookmarks to give out as gifts too. They had a vast selection of different bookmarks, very well made and in see-through covers to protect. The sales clerk was most cheerful and helpful while assisting us around the store and at the register. She helped us find exactly what we were looking for. They are a little on the pricy side, however they are a non-profit organization, so it is going towards a good cause. I saw a beautiful nativity scene, made of wood that I would just love to own! It had the baby Jesus laying in the manger separately, which I truly appreciate. When I was a child, in our home we always had the baby Jesus inside the drawer near by the nativity scene, until Christmas day, when he was "born". I always got such a kick out of this! Most nativity scenes have the baby attached to the manger, so you cannot separate them. This one is special!

Kathi was very helpful in picking out colors and font/designs that compliment each other. The invitations come in packs of 25, we ordered 3 packs. Total 750! A bit shocking, but my daughter loved them and had just spent 2 hours in the shop picking out the perfect invitations. Once the invitations were ready my mom picked up the two bags and brought them home. I noticed there were several small boxes. Opened the first one...glue dots! What in the world? Now, I'm a scrapbooker so before opening the other boxes I knew...we would be putting them together!! So, we paid 750 for some beautiful purple and gold glitter card stock!!!! Oh and the wedding info printed out on cream colored card stock. It was not at anytime conveyed to us that we would be putting together the invitations. For this price we should've had them completed and in envelopes, these are not bought from Hobby Lobby or Staples for goodness sake. Nor were they ordered online from a "printing" shop. 3 stars for cleanliness.

We came in to this store to find a gift for a good friend. This is your average stationary and…read moregifts store. They have lots of beautiful journals, notepads, calendars, gift wrapping, pens, and all of the things that you would expect from such a store. They also have some hand made soaps and lotions, and some very beautiful tea sets. The way that we were greeted was very odd, it actually felt like we were imposing, because of the urgency in the woman's voice. She had her purse on her shoulder, so I thought that maybe she was on her way out and we were infringing upon her scheduled break, but her purse remained on her shoulder the entire time we were there, so I guess it's just how she liked it, and so I dismissed her initial tone as something that had nothing to do with us...even though it felt oddly deliberate. My daughter and I began browsing and talking back and forth as we saw items that grabbed our interest. While we were doing this, the woman with her purse on her shoulder kept coming right up to us and loudly talking over us to tell us about this item or that item, and I politely thanked her each time, even though I couldn't understand what exactly she was saying about these items because my daughter was also mid sentence with me, each time. I continued to thank her and attempted to get eye contact, but she couldn't or wouldn't look me in the eye. She finally stopped bombarding us and allowed us to browse and we could finally hear each other. This entire exchange seemed to serve no useful purpose since she kept talking at us, and not to us, and she kept choosing to talk at us while we were talking to each other. Instead of feeling like an attempt to communicate, it felt like she was being disruptive and rude. In fact, I did not get the sense that she wanted to be helpful in any way. It felt like she was judging us as potential shop lifters and she wanted to make sure that we knew she had her eyes on us. Now the odd tone that I heard in her voice when she was 'greeting' us made sense. While my daughter was trying to decide between getting stationary or body lotions another patron entered the store. The woman with her purse was warm and very welcoming to him. It was a very stark contrast to the tone, words, and facial expressions that we were given. Also, there was a second elderly woman watching us like a hawk the entire time and she asked my daughter where the University that was represented on her T-shirt was located. She then asked her in a very condescending tone if she went to that University (she's a high school student, and looks young for her age) and my daughter, in her soft spoken way, let her know that I was the one who attended. This was a very awkward exchange, and again, it felt like we were being judged and looked down upon. We made our selection, observed the good prices, and then we left. My daughter looked at me and said that it was a very "weird" shopping experience. While we were able to find a gift and make a purchase, we felt very conflicted as we were shopping because of the contradictory vibes. If someone's facial expression is foul when they see you, then the seemingly welcoming words that come from their mouths fall flat. There was a condescending attitude and I felt as though we were grudgingly tolerated, but not actually welcome. We'll never step foot in that store again. The good thing is that they have nothing that can't be found elsewhere.

I also browsed some other items and ended up buying a very nice, good quality picture frame that would have been more expensive at Michael's! The store has been around for 56 years, according to the lady working there, and the service is tops - she even wrapped a gift I was buying for a baby shower.....now what store does that anymore?

I don't want people coming to my house and recognizing the furniture I have from other stores. I ordered a sectional for my new home (I got to pick out the layout of the sectional, the fabric, and even the fabrics for the accent pillows) and ended up walking away with a new dining table too. I even had the option to have the furniture delivered for a nominal extra fee. The furniture is good quality, and the price is not much more than what you'd pay for furniture anywhere else. I'd highly recommend looking here before committing to furniture from anywhere else. I love just randomly perusing the store every season or so too; it's always changing and always decorated exceptionally well. The fact that they even have sales and a points / reward program is the icing on the cake. Truly thankful to have this store in the Modesto area.

When I asked for a price adjustment or exchange--well within the 14-day policy--I was refused. I was denied my discount, denied an exchange, and treated extremely poorly. Pamela who helped me had the worst attitude and said this was a private sale. How can it be private if there is a large banner on the building OPEN HOUSE!! They STOLED MY MONEY!! My credit card company was shocked and disgusted at Pamelas attitude. I am requesting immediate resolution!
