A nice Italian restaurant? A submarine sandwich? Fried chicken? To fill your kitchen w organic foods from Sprouts? A Hallmark card? A cocktail? A haircut? A black tie gown? A yoga class? A dry cleaner? Your brows done? A new rosary? It's ALL here! And then some... I left out the furniture, kitchenware, bed linens, & frozen yogurt. There's even an AT&T store. Despite this extensive list of things that are very contemporary, it's still an old school outdoor shopping mall. It's quiet & charming. They even do a horse drawn carriage during the holidays. this review will be for McHenry village as a whole, not for the individual stores. I remember coming to McHenry village as a little girl, thank her Lee 1970s! The holiday season is especially nice and McHenry village, there are decorations, there is music playing, and it feels quaint...as I remember as a child, not all stores are to my taste or places I would shot... but the overall ambience of McHenry village is like a village square... I'd like to see more little mini festivals there, to get people out, for example christmas-related...even something as simple as like how they did the taste of McHenry village... but do something similar for Christmas what's random carolers and candy canes and I don't know what else... stop and get a cup of coffee or cocoa...McHenry village is clean, secure, and has a good variety. I was especially pleased today to see the menorah lighting unfortunately I saw that I was driving out...happenings at McHenry village aren't advertised enough... though I'm not Jewish, I would have certainly love to have come and observed and watched and celebrate with them! read more

McHenry Village - Shopping Centers Near Me - Modesto, California

Modesto got it right. This is a 60s vintage shopping mall that has been maintained and not given up for the something newer and glitzier. The shops are locally owned, not a lot of franchises. Wide, covered sidewalks, easy walking paths between parking lots, makes it easy to get around. I am guessing the large department store in the back left awhile ago and that space really needs a new tenant to anchor the center, but Sprout's and CVS Pharmacy out front are nice additions. The center is not overrun with food places, but there is a nice assortment. From fast food chicken to upscale Italian. See's Candies has maintained a very 60's free-standing store in the center. No panhandlers or stragglers hanging around so the center feels very safe, even when there are few customers. Wish Fresno's Manchester Center had kept its original concept like McHenry Village has done. read more

Feel like I grew up @ this "village"! Lots to choose from... how about a quick list? Check out Village Health for everything from a juice bar to organic produce. Family owned. Salon, Salon next door offers something for everyone including facials, massage, and of course hair care. My favorite specialty food? See's candy of course! Been coming here since I was a kiddo. Village Baking Co. has something for everyone! from custom wedding cakes to cupcakes on the go. Breakfast served daily! There's a little shop called Key Hut which will serve all your locksmith needs right there as you shop nearby. Plenty of options to choose for clothing. Medical uniforms to fitness wear... but my favorite is Royal Robbins. they offer merino wool blends, fleece, cargo pants. I definitely wish there was an outdoor clothing boutique like this closer to the east bay. And much, much more. including bike shop, frame 'n arts, hallmark, even photography. McHenry Village - Shopping Centers Near Me - Modesto, California

I like the McHenry Village shopping center, it has several really cute stores and some delish eateries. It is also like 5mins from my house, bonus points! Salon Salon is here, which is great for hair and eyebrows and Murad products, also the boutique sometimes has a few good items on sale making them more reasonably priced. Luna Bella, Paper Habit, and that cute Dog bakery is here-and Planet Beach tanning--WOO. My mom and dad also really like the huge lighting store here, and The Village baking company is always a good bet for lunch or a snack. If you're wanting some diet help Jenny Craig is located at MVSC, and if you're not...so is See's candy! They have a Cingular, which has been perfect for all my new phone needs. Valley sporting goods is an awesome family-owned sports store, but I'm not the biggest fan of Keller's next door. Well, that's the short list of MVSC- sure it isn't huge but it is perfect for the size of Modesto. read more

The Village is dying. Frankly, they need to invest in cleanliness. The sidewalks are never powerwashed, only when they have a special event. There is a lot of dis-repair, and the only thing maintained is the Garden pottery. Parking is really a nightmare at the peak lunch hours of the day and difficult for businesses trying to recieve shipments. Secondly, no parking enforcement on people parking in No parking zones and Handicap spots. They need an engineer to reset the Parking spots. This used to be a crown jewel in Modesto. read more

Shopping doesn't get any better than this. I love this place. Shopping, good food in several establishments. This place has everything from A to Z, well, take out the P= pets cuz Scraps is no more. As far as food goes you have Mexican, Italian, Japanese, American, etc. And the shopping, everything from clothes to specialty stores for the holidays, furniture, artwork, shoes, shoe repair, and good exercise. Just park wherever you find room and get out and walk. The weekends are special, they have horse drawn buggy rides and many other events going on. It's a good time for the whole family. A lot of the places are even pet friendly, just bring along a roll of paper towels and plastic bags. Oh ya, don't forget the pooper scooper. lol read more

Last night I had the unfortunate encounter with the rudest pharmacist I have ever met. He shut the drive thru window in my face as I was speaking to him, sour face from the start of my business with him. He has definitely turned away my business with them. The McHenry Village has many unique "mom and pop" style stores that you'll find nowhere else. If you're looking for more upscale shopping you would think the mall would be the answer. However, take a drive East on Briggsmore until you reach McHenry and there you will find a treasure trove of goods and services to tickle even Scrooge McDuck's fancy. read more

I was born in Modesto and know McHenry Village well. I have photographed there over the years at night but recently encountered security who considered my photographing buildings or windows casing. I even explained night photography and that he could go online to see my work so that he would understand I was not casing any place. I have been all over the world and photographed at night this is the first time I have been really stopped and questioned especially in my hometown in the small place in the middle of nowhere California.I have enjoyed the coffee and light shopping at some of the store, but now will reconsider visiting it. I have loved shooting Halloween displays and Christmas I guess this year they will be left passing time without memory. Many places in the shopping mall have come and gone and it seems more will go without memory of them actually ever being there if photographers are prohibited from photographing the places to keep images of our local history. read more
