Vintage and new stuff from Rasputin's Music.

This is a huge Thrift store and Music store combo. There is a robust selection of music offered in different forms (CD's/Vinyl/Cassette/VHS). Their book selection is also very broad and well organized. They had decent clothes with something for everyone, and even a small section with New Clothes. The value for what they offer is pretty good for today's economy, especially since we've noticed other thrift store prices going up recently. You can also bring in your gently used clothes, books, and music to sell to them, which can be a satisfying way to recycle for some folks. The vibe is very laid back, and it almost feels a little bit like you stepped back into the 90's, however, the staff was very tight lipped, solemn and unsmiling, and for a moment I thought we were at the SF Ballet.

Mad Monk/Rasputin's is where I began collecting vinyl records, so it holds a comforting place in my heart, however throughout the years this place has been going down hill. The prices are reasonable for the most part, and they have a wide selection, though it seems they cater to pop fans the most. The clothing is really so-so, if you're looking the men's section, like genuinely it looks genuinely "eh.." One thing I do not like about the store was an interaction with an employee, they freaked out because I got hand sanitizer from their counter (which I do every time I go, even at other locations.) and the employee working freaked out, like I was stealing something. They began to rant on and on about not touching the hand sanitizer. That's one of the only negative customer experiences I've had, for the most part the staff is quite friendly! Another thing that bothers me about the store is the WiFi always being down, it's uncontrollable, I understand, but sometimes it feels like as soon as I go up to the register they tell me. Overall, I love Rasputin's, but it's hit or miss.

    Another line for RSD

Overpriced, rude service, and snail-paced at the register. These kids clearly skipped the lessons from Tower Records' demise. Time to ditch brick-and-mortar for the convenience of online shopping.

Staff gives me weird vibes. No one is happy there. If you're wondering why it smells gross in the clothes section:

For whatever reason the store hours on Yelp is wrong. Hours in Photo are the actual store hours.

So I noticed the customer service is horrible. The employees act like ppl you see on the streets. They need to work on their customer service skills. Another thing, selling music here is ridiculous. The amount they want to give you for at least a great condition set of physicals is atrocious.

Zoom in on this picture and look what they say they say that they pay top cash it's a not true be my guest and try, you will see.

I am describing a personal experience I had with this place. Listen folks do not, and let me emphasize this strongly do not take your items to sell to this place. I know it's a business and they say they pay the highest cash for your items. Let me explain to you what top cash means it means that you are subject to sell for whatever they want to buy it. There was a gentleman in front of me and he took with him about 400 DVDs and Blu-ray and vinyl 45s and albums, I asked him how did it go? He said they offered him $17 for about 100 of the items that comes out to about $.17 cents per item. They told them they were not interested in buying the rest but if he wanted to he could donate them so he did not want to carry them back to the car so obviously he did donate them. I was next and I brought with me about 200 blu rays and about 200 DVDs a lot of titles were hard to find, and every single DVD in there was in its original packaging And every Blu-ray and DVD was an excellent condition they wanted to take advantage of me and offer me $40 for 300 movies. I said OK like I don't think so "ok" and started packing my movies and took them back home. Here's why ..,do not trust these people the first thing they do is buy stuff really cheap so they can pay the employees and they can pay for their overhead and their utilities and insurance and what not then they make a profit.APL of this by making you feel dependent on them for money. Well first, they pay all the employees and pay all their bills by stating that they pay top cash for items to lure you to their store. Top cash ?, not true at all they are a rip off.And if you want to buy do some more research on OfferUp or on some other website, you could probably get the movies cheaper. If not, at least you could return them if there's an issue this place in my opinion because of my experience is ripping people off. They might not want us to tell you about this, but my suggestion is there are a lot of people willing to buy DVDs and Blu-ray in good shape and box sets and give you better pricing than this place will. Do not do not do not do not do not do not do not!!!!!..." let me emphasize"., Do not waste your time by calling them or going over there because they will not give you a good deal and all the vinyl that they buy they don't tell you what it's worth, I saw these people in action so I'm letting you know right now do not sell cassettes , records or movies to these people shame on them. Some of that stuff is worth literally $40 to $1,000's of dollars do the research first...I would not recommend these people at all and I tell it like it is and I tell the truth look on OfferUp or other websites that people do buy and give you a better deal let's put these people out of business.

Rude weirdo hiding behind blank stare kid stole my pic so I can be childish too :)

Wide selection of items. They over charge you though so be careful about that. It happened multiple times. The atmosphere is eh.

Do they sell rather recent rap records? like 2012 and up?

I don't know for sure, but they do have a very large number of good records and CDs. You should definitely go in there and check it out.

I highly recommend working with Estate of Affairs for estate liquidation. They were kind,…read moreefficient, and did an excellent job maximizing the value of my dad's estate. Context: When my father passed, he left behind a house (in Tracy) packed with 30 years of collecting cookware, books, art, records, telescopes, camping gear, and clothes. He also left behind 3 storage units. I had spent a couple of months trying to make sense of things, and then realized I wasn't making progress on my own. James responded within a day to my initial inquiry, and then toured my dad's property and advised there was so much stuff that we should probably do 2 separate estate sales. From the beginning, he was transparent about his process and professional. Once preparation started, his team came in quickly to sort and display SO much stuff, and priced it to move while also maximizing the value of items sold. Things were priced as small knick knacks up to thousand dollars+ telescopes and stereo equipment. I really appreciated the time the team took to look up these specialty items so they could get their fair value while still being sold within the time of the estate sale. Some other nice touches: I gave James his own codes for entry and arming/disarming the house, which allowed him to self-manage estate sale prep. He always made it clear when his team was to be expected on site. James consistently checked in with me about anything he had questions about (e.g. what to do about items that probably wouldn't sell due to damage, or if I was okay doing a second day.) His team took the time to set aside any personal items that I hadn't yet uncovered within the boxes in my dad's house. It's also clear that EoA's marketing system works really well, as I heard from a neighbor there was a line down the block to get in. After the sales, I worked with EoA to finish clearing out my dad's house to prepare it for sale. They left the house spotless, and even took the time to lay out missing closet doors that had been uncovered. I can't recommend working with James and his team enough. I was able to reclaim my life and also made enough money to put towards my kids' college fund.

Attended their estate sale in Modesto CA on Dec 14th. They jacked up prices so high and the garage…read moreset up was set up terrible, people were having to climb over others just to get through to the back. The cashiers were rude, especially the gentleman. I will never attend their sales again nor will my mother in law that got trampled on by one of their workers in the livingroom as she was looking at the crystal animals. We left in utter disbelief you guys should be ashamed.
