Just like the other negative reviews say, the VIP Backstage Pass is a subscription plan, and NOT a free membership points club as their employees describe. I specifically asked the employee at the register if it was a monthly charge, and he assured me it wasn't. He was a nice and friendly kid, so I didn't push back at the time. That was my mistake for taking him at his word and believing it was an earned points club like at Old Navy, Famous Footwear, etc. In hindsight, I still cant really say if the kid knows he is selling subscriptions, or if he genuinely believes it's an earned points system. Also, canceling the subscription was a pain because of course customer service is handled out of country by an automated systems that make it nearly impossible to speak to anyone. I had to eventually just put a "stop payment" via my credit card company. This is a bummer review because I really wanted to like FYE. But I will never shop here again. Back to Mad Monk I go. read more

The Manager seems like he likes to Micromanage and throw his weight around, however the employees that were there were super helpful and friendly. I found a few Underground hiphop CDs for a great price. read more

Store is permanently closed! The store is empty with a sign on the door to shop online.

Service isn't that friendly and they don't sell electronics like they used to. A decade ago when I was more interested in CDs and CD players, everything was more supplied with things. A week ago when I went in seeing if they still have CD players, they didn't have them and they didn't bother approaching you about things when they weren't busy. read more

First time going in, staff very helpful and friendly. Clean and well stocked store. Reminds me of game stop only with records instead of games. read more

Best place ever this fye is one of my favorite stores why because they have anything you need from snacks to figures a 10 out of 10 place an it cheap too like this one time I got a plush for $10 read more

Wonderful selection of movies, music, DVDs, random trinkets, even great customer service. The person at the register will want to save you some money and offer you a rewards program. I specifically asked: "Does it cost anything?" He said, "No! Nothing!" Not sure if it's lack of training or maybe sneaky sales goals they have to meet, but at the time of making my purchase, their system captured my debit card info and began to bill me $11.99 monthly for an FYE BACKSTAGE VIP PASS. Buyer Beware. If you buy a lot from this store then it may be worth it. My $40 purchase once a year does not justify an $11.99 reoccurring monthly charge, especially because I was misled. Call me a psychic if you want, but I foresee a class action lawsuit in their future. read more

Fye - Monthly billing of FYE Backstage pass. Buyer Beware! - Music & DVDs Near Me - Modesto, California

Love the items that this store sells and the prices are decent. Be careful at checkout because they ask you if you want to sign up for a lot of stuff that will charge you monthly. They also asked if we wanted to choose a magazine and made it sound like it was free, but then said if you like it it's cheap to keep. So be very cautious to make sure they don't sign you up for anything. read more

They were real helpful with that type of music I wanted to buy and I really appreciate your business and I would recommend this company to another customer friend or brother once again thanks for your business. read more

Fye movie and music store is my current favorite store to go to for anime and electronic accessories, they have merchandise from all different sorts of movies, shows, and videogames! It's the bests place to browse and to buy, if you haven't already been there you really should! Also, the employees are very kind and easy to talk to! 5 stars for sure! read more

I had received some shirts as a gift, shirts I had no interest in wearing. So I came by to exchange them and just exchanged them for sweatshirts for my girls and one for me. It was super easy and no hassle at all. I did have to pay a little bit more because the shirts I exchanged them for were cheaper, which was fine. I'm glad they let me know before they started scanning everything. I will definitely be back for DVDS, CD's, shirts, FunKo Pops or whatever else I need for there. It's a nice big store. read more

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM FYE! THEY DON'T DESERVE ANY STARS BUT I HAD TO CHOOSE ONE TO SUBMIT MY REVIEW. I ordered online several Funko Pops for my family for Christmas on 12/10/20. I Received an email of all the items ordered along with the order number. You can use the order number, your email and zip code to check in on your order. Have been checking it every day and it keeps telling me one of the 3 pieces of information entered does not match their records. Unless you're a VIP member there is no one to call just an email to customer service. Which by the way I've seen too many complaints about the VIP membership so I wouldn't even sign up for if I were you. I've been to the store to complain about this and they also sent an email to the company asking them to call me. I've emailed the company several times as well to get the same generic email reply every time Due to high volumes, busy carriers and Covid 19 procedural safety measures, fulfillment and delivery times may be delayed. We ask for your patience as we process your order. To give your order the best chance to arrive in time for Christmas we recommend placing all Christmas orders by Monday December 7th. So today is the day after Christmas 12/26/20 and still nothing has shipped nor will they allow me to cancel my order. AGAIN DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! read more

I maybe old school, I'm a big fan of CD/DVD stores. I know it's much easier to order music online or through apps but I still like buying CD's. This store has everything from music, movies, posters, toys and clothing. They have hard to find CD's and records with great prices too. They have both new and used, and can order something if they don't have it in stock. The customer service is good, very helpful. Located in the back behind play it again sports, kind of hidden if your not looking closely. read more

So I was foolish enough to join the rewards program they had in store back in 2019 for a one time purchase, never went back to the store. A few months later I remembered I was being charged every month for that account I was no longer using. At the time I didnt know I was supposed to go online and finish registering my account so I tried to login and my account didnt exist because I hadn't made it yet. Confused, I sent an email to fye with my account/member number and asked them to close out the account entirely. That was in july of 2020, now in december of 2020 I finally figured out I had to finish making my account so I did and I cancelled the membership. I've been charged every month this year because I thought my emailing and asking them would take care of the issue. I was wrong read more

WARNING DO NOT PURCHASE ANY "EXTEND THE PLAY" WARRANTIES. I work full time and am also enrolled in MJC, so I'm a pretty busy guy. Music is my #1 passion in life so, I go through earphones pretty quick. I was suckered into buying the extend the play warranty for 5$ each for the last 4 pairs Finally got around to registering them, filing a claim, and They were of ABSOLUTELY no help at all. They will only refer you to the manufacturer warranty or tell you their supervisors are, "In a meeting". The only reason I'm giving this place any stars, is because the employees are nice. I will no longer be shopping at f.y.e. and will be filing formal complaints / spreading the word to anyone who will listen. Buyer beware. P.S. Rasputin's is cooler anyway. read more

It's much better than Rasputin's - in terms of deals, new releases, and customer service. My main knock is they don't carry obscure/lesser known acts like the other store. I'm glad it's still around. read more

Honestly they will try to con you into the 'Fye VIP Backstage Pass' which gives you discounts but charges your card each month; a detail they refrain from mentioning. I can't believe that. Seriously I will never go back there. read more

I love FYE this place has everything for a reasonable price I have bought all of my cds here and the employees are so nice and helpful

I love this store, all of the employees are great people. They are always happy to help you and they have great personalities. They also have a huge selection of DVDs, CDs and a lot of other great things. read more

Great customer service!!!!!! The employees helped me locate a movie i was wanting to get for my mother it took them quite a bit of time but they were so nice and polite. They ened up finding the movie i needed. The young girl didnt give up i think she helped me check the whole drama section twice after checking the manager checked the computer to make sure it was in stock!! i am very happy with FYE i will continue to shop here for all my dvds, blue rays and cd purchases. read more

I love this store. Always an awesome experience!! The manager Jose is super friendly and always greets me by name. Very clean store and nothing but good vibes. They always have good sales. Definitely one of my favorite stores in Modesto. read more

DO NOT GET THE BACKSTAGE PASS!!!! IT IS A SCAM!! IT IS NOT FREE!!! THEY DO NOT TELL YOU ABOUT THE CHARGE!!! you get 10% off on your purchase rt then and there, but what they don't tell you is that it is that they will charge you a monthly fee of 11.99. The card you used for that purchase will be attached to the vip card, and then charged. Do not be deceived. The card is not like a card you would get from a drugstore or grocery store. It costs to have. I bought something for 10 bux, and ultimately was charged roughly 36$ extra in total monthly fees, just because I thought it was a regular discount card. SUCH A RIP OFF!!! I wont be going back to FYE for this dishonesty. read more

5 Stars for their customer service. I've been a regular here for years, and the employees always go above and beyond to make you a happy shopper. Their prices are decent, and they have a great selection of DVDs. One thing I didn't like about this place was that they were too pushy with their sales pitch at check-out, and they would try to push several different products during one transaction. Recently though they've toned it down to just one or two sales pitches at check-out which isn't too bad. read more

Finding DVDs these days is like looking for gold in a silver mine. So it was refreshing to still find a store in town where there was a chance to browse the racks and find something interesting I hadn't heard of before. I don't rely on being "fed" recommendations by Netflix or Amazon or other streaming services; I'd rather do my own discovery. There were great deals, and the staff was helpful and courteous. The store is also full of an eclectic mix of fun merchandise, reminiscent of the old Spencer's Stores, including collectable Pez dispensers, TV shirts, records, and more. Definitely plan to go back. read more

David at F.Y.E is so very helpful. I love this store as they will go the extra mile for you. If they don't have what you want, they do all in their power to find it or order it for you. Thank you F.Y.E and especially David for your great work and wonderful store. read more

This place is pretty decent, especially if you're looking for something you can't find other places. I stopped in to see if they had a movie that no one else in town carries and low-and-behold, Fye had it in stock, brand new, for less than I could purchase it for online. If you're lucky you can also find some hidden gems, like I did with an expensive collectors dvd set that you can't find online anywhere and ended up paying under 12 bucks. Score. The staff is usually friendly and they do offer a club card which comes with some coupons and whatnot, but the best part is you get 10% off your purchase when you sign up and you can cancel it whenever you want (within the first 30 days it's free). Keep signing up and cancelling without ever having to pay. Overall, I'd recommend this place and if you can't find what you're looking for anywhere else, Fye will most likely have it in stock. read more

Went into get some box sets because they didn't have the sets I was looking for at the fye in the mall but they would not match the malls buy one get one half off and they do not price match at all! Customer service was very poor also didn't help me find anything I was looking for just pointed in area while he was texting on his phone. Will never shop here again! read more

FYE is one of the last stores that have CD's and dvds both Used AND New so I think its an awesome store. They have a wide selection of old and newer movies with really great prices. I would always come here and buy DVDs and used TV show seasons for cheap! They have a lot of good CDs here as well. Staff is friendly I highly recommend FYE. read more

One of the last remaining music stores, although music is less than half of the current selection. Collectibles, shirts, games, and movies are a large portion of the store. BUT, it makes sense. Pricing on cd's is grossly over-priced in the current music market. Dvd/Blu Ray pricing is reasonable however. I am surprised this store survives, but I am glad it does. read more
