I should just call this place the "place where I can buy a lot of cheap junk I probably don't need but would be nice to have." Some of the items in here are rather creative and find uses for problems that I never really thought of. For example, they had a mango slicer that slices out the pit of the mango so you can eat the rest. They also have a variety of household needs such as brushes, bins, various containers, various holders, an assortment of massage like tools and just a bunch of random items. In addition, almost everything is $1.50, barring a few nicer items that have a price tag on them for more. That makes it a little too easy to want to try some of these various items since it's cheap that if it doesn't work as planned there wasn't much lost. UM its DAISO! Place is like a candy store for me-- everything is pretty, pink, cute, PINK! Japanese dollar store with sometimes the randomest (is that a word? Idk but I'm leaving it) things ever. Stationary, home goods, dishes, snacks, phone accessories, makeup they literally have it all, so if you need gadgets such as a can opener or something chances are you'll find it here (and a pink colored one at that). I love coming here for seasonal stuff like holiday hair bows, Xmas trees, cute decor to go along with whatever holiday! Only complaint is this store is cramped like a mother. What can I say... It's a Japanese Dollar store except everything in the store is $1.50 unless priced otherwise. And to top it off... They are Japanese items so most of the items were so cute!! Kawaii-des-ne!! As soon as I walked in I was like whoa!! I hit the Japanese jackpot! Lol I would recommend doing the aisle by aisle shopping. They have so many things squeezed into the spaces. I ended up getting some cute mugs and if I end up breaking them... No big deal... They are only 1.50!! I got mugs, a make up organizer, one of the zip bags for the laundry, 2 microfiber dust things and I ended up paying only $13 and the girl at the counter was great! She wrapped up my mugs in newspaper so that they would not break. Good customer service! They had a snack aisle and drinks as well on one wall of the building... If you are walking in... We love this store. Almost all items are 1.50 if not marked. It's a much better deal than the 99c stores. The Store is clean, it's well managed. We always find stuff we need at a great price. There is a wide selection of every day items. They were pretty good about not hiking up prices during the pandemic. They have a lot of essential items and it's a big money saver to shop here. Staff is nice. Be prepared to pay 20c a bag if you do not bring your own. Also, be sure you want it because nothing is returnable. We shop here at least every other week because it's fun! read more

Danger! It is not possible to leave this store without buying something (or several somethings) ridiculously cute for $1.50. I mean who doesn't need post it tabs with matryoshka dolls or puppy faces. Despite my adoration, this location didn't satisfy my Daiso desires. The Sawtelle shop may be the smallest Daiso ever. The limited selection and narrow aisles had me feeling like a "Bull in a Made-in-China Shop" as I tried to squeeze between some Tweens to check out iPhone covers. Of course, there's still plenty to like at this store ... just not as much as at other Daiso Japans ... which leaves it in the a-ok 3-star range. Just when you thought that Sawtelle Blvd couldn't get any more Asian, along comes Daiso Japan to wreak more havoc amongst the local natives. The funniest thing about Daiso is their insane ability to make you buy stuff that you don't necessarily need or want. Well, Costco is notorious for making you buy in bulk, as though you'll save money for doing so. Daiso works the polar opposite by making things so cheap, that you'd be considered stuck on stupid for not buying it. HOW THEY GET YOU * Everything inside the store is $1.50, unless otherwise marked. * They don't accept $100 dollar bills. * Credit Card minimum is $10. Debit Card has no minimum. * VISA & MasterCard are accepted only. Purchases over $20 with a credit card requires a valid ID. * All sales are final. No returns or exchanges. * They only sell BRAND Goods, not Closeout or Factory Second Merchandise. Even the location looks menacing. Feels like a scene from Fast & Furious - Tokyo Drift. Luxury cars parading around for parking, in a lot where finding spots is tough enough. For a Sunday night, it was packed. There were more people crawling along Sawtelle Blvd as though pubic transportation didn't mean diddly. We've been duped folks. It's so convenient to have this Japanese accessory/home goods store within walking distance from where I live. I've picked up everything from Japanese snacks, to cleaning supplies, to car accessories, and indoor sandals from here. Everything is priced at $1.50 unless marked differently. The quality and value of the items are great for the money you spend. Daiso is located in the same plaza as the Max karaoke, Nijiya Market, and Kura sushi, so it's really convenient to stop by Daiso right after eating or shopping for groceries. I love Daiso. I have spot in my heart for trinkets and hobnobs that I just cannot explain. Needless to say, when I walk into this Japanese bargain pit-stop I am in HEAVEN. Daiso is a chain of Japanese stores similar to the Dollar Tree; there are many small items that are useful and equally as many items that aren't. For the most part, everything in the store is 1.50. There are a few electronic items and accessories that are slightly more expensive but the price increases are pretty logical. Items range from Japanese candy to housewares and stationary. Some of the items are an awesome bargain and others are a complete waste. Like most bargain stores, you won't be sure until you've purchased the item and put it to use. Parking at this location can be a hit or a miss. When I came by on a Sunday morning parking was not an issue (and free) but during later hours finding parking anywhere on sawtelle can be a nightmare. You have been warned. If you want the full Daiso experience you will not get it at this location. The selection is pretty small and a lot of my favorite items were not there. The store is incredibly compact and only leaves room for Daiso staples- but it's still a Daiso and is wonderful in most of the way larger Daisos are. This is a decently sized Daiso located in a small plaza. It's a pretty standard one with somewhat ample room to browse the aisles. I like the pore strips for your nose and the ear picks the best. If you've never been to a Daiso, the company specializes in selling cheap plastic junk (most everything is $1.50) that will likely end up in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in short order. In spite of that, there are sometimes some excellent thrifty finds that you can feel good about, but they are few and far between. Cramped aisles bustling with people and a packed store in a cramped section of Sawtelle make this particular Daiso a pain to both visit and navigate. With most everything priced at $1.50, Daiso is the perfect place to get small goods for just about anything. Cute little home goods, stationary, snacks, & much more! The only downside to this location is that it is much smaller than any of the others. Stumbled upon this store on my way to the market in the same plaza. It looked really busy and had so many cute items so it caught my eye. I never noticed it before, but after looking at other reviews it looks like it just opened. Uhhh, almost everything in this store is $1.50 unless marked...and this store has EVERYTHING you can imagine. From food to doggie toys...office supplies! It's basically like a Japanese version of a 99 cents store. I think the quality of items here isn't too bad either. I bought some wire hangers online for 99 cents a pack. They're really thin and bend easily under weight. They have similar ones at Daiso, but they are much thicker and can withstand more weight. I guess that 50 cents makes a difference? lol. I was also impressed by their dishware. So many cute, nice looking dishes for just $1.50 each! I found the staff pleasant and helpful at the register. Very cheerful people. Ok, don't get me wrong about the two stars...I love Daiso, just not this particular one on Sawtelle. To be more specific, I like this branch, just not the attitude of one particular employee, and I have a little bit to say about Daiso's strict policy on purchased items, apparently even if the items are damaged. The employee's name is Victoria. And, easy to spot, she is--smarmy, with her name tag clipped to her shirt backward. I had purchased a very cute, very cheap coffee cup with a lid at the Daiso on Alameda. Got back to my friend's condo, took off the tape which secured the lid to the cup, and found a sliver of black paint stuck to the tape and not anymore on the cat on the lid. Picked up the receipt: No exchanges or returns. While I can respect this policy for items purchased that you went home and simply changed your mind about, it didn't sit well with me for an item that I wanted to keep but was damaged, and through no fault of my own. Let's backtrack a bit--I don't live in L.A. I'm from Hawaii, and was on vacay with the crew for a week. We had every day planned out from morn to night, with fun things to do out of the million attractions L.A. has to offer. I carefully wrapped up my kitty cup and lid purchased on Day 4, and brought it with me on Day 5, in hopes that we'll be in the vicinity of another Daiso, where the store workers will be reasonable and understanding, and help me exchange this damaged item for an undamaged one. Fast forward to the store on Sawtelle. We scanned the shelves and found the same kitty mug, and quickly stood in the growing line at the register with a few more items we wanted to purchase. Victoria started to ring us up and my friend and I asked if it was possible to exchange the damaged lid. She said no, all sales final. We explained how we discovered the damage. She stammered out a no, all sales final. Then, she got her manager on the line. Alas, she came back again with a haughty no, all sales final. Her logic was that if we gave her the damaged item, then this Daiso branch would be short one sellable product in their inventory. Victoria said that if we really wanted to get the exchange done, we would have to go back to the Alameda store. 'Scuse me, but did you just ask a customer to drive out of her way to the first store to return the lid of a $1.50 mug...when clearly, you have the same product right now, right this minute, in your store? Yes, you did.... To Daiso: Where the heck is your customer service? Granted your stores sell very affordable items, if I'm dishing out my hard earned money, you best believe that I'm going to expect to receive a product that is not damaged! And if you're not going to return my money for the damaged item, at least have the sense and flexibility to allow a customer to exchange it at ANY of your branches, especially if it's done within a reasonable amount of time! So sad that a company like yours will nickel and dime its customers to this level! Back off a little! And, to Victoria: Granted, you just work there, do away with that surly attitude please, and treat your customers with a little bit more respect and class. A tiny amount of personality would help too. In the end--after about 4-5 minutes of "back-and-forthing" with Victoria--she allowed us finally to exchange the lid. By now, mind you, there were at least 15 to 17 people in line behind us who probably heard the whole argument. The Sawtelle store is, after all, only so big. Daiso is great! I'm so glad there's one on the westside now, and what better location could it have than downstairs from yogurtland?? I love just browsing in this store because I always find neat things I wouldn't have thought of. The real bonus is that most of these neat things are also cute and cost just $1.50. The minimum $10 purchase for credit cards is killer because I find myself wanting 4-5 things, but have no cash, so I end up buying enough to use my credit card. I don't know if that's just lucky for me because I get more stuff or stupid of me for buying so much unnecessary stuff. Either way, I love it all! And I don't feel too bad if I lose something from here because it was so cheap! They have a decent, but unpredictable crafting section and the kitchen stuff is always nice. Moderate quality ceramic dish ware for $1.50 a piece! It's also my go-to store for buying Asian soup ladles and those hanger contraptions with many clips to hang small stuff to dry that you can't put in the dryer. The only reason why this location doesn't get 5 stars is that it's a little smaller than its suburban counterparts and because it's so cramped!
