I am always a regular shopper at TJMAXX. I love Santa Monica Branch. It has two levels. They have a wide range of merchandise including; women accessories, women clothing, handbags, shoes, beauty products, dinnerware, kitchen utensils,home decor for every season, kids apparel, toys and more. For Santa Monica's branch, it has a nice selection of Runway and Luxury fashion brands at discounted prices. The staff are always very nice and friendly. I always enjoy shopping here. WHAT ON EARTH has happened to TJMAXX ( our ex favorite store) ? It has now become a warehouse dumpster meets Ross meets Goodwill !( Ross is lately very clean and organised) . Impossible to find any near decent quality of clothings, bags or shoes anymore. It is a joke. Where on earth TJM buys these junks from and for what clientele? Unfortunately, A total waste of money and time. The FILTHINESS of this SM location was disgusting, seeing dust and filth everywhere on the floors below the racks mixed with clothing on the floor people kick aside to make their way through the FILTHY MESS, painful to see. Who wants to buy these filthy merchandises ? Last three times ( April/May ) , there was an unprofessional angry, and arrogant female manager ( wearing usually a strict pulled back dark hair ) with ZERO customer service skills and lacking knowledge of the company's basic policies!!!! How that could be called a " manager ", is concerning. Long lines extremely long wait ( over 10-15 minutes ), 2-3 totally untrained and loud new female cashiers with zero customer service skills and unfortunately impossible to communicate with because of language barriere. Ours avoided eye contact after she couldn't explain her mistake turned and started talking to her friend at next cashier instead!!dismissing our question , rolling eyes and pointing to an unknown spot mumbling wait! She cominng! ( which didn't happen for the longest time) There's FILTH and clothing on the floor everywhere, broken elevator for over a month, upstairs is half taped around... The district manager and upper management needs to be fired! The men's department is really bad! As always, the women's clothing takes up 3/4 of this store and Men is shoved up at the top with kids. They don't even sell men's shoes here? Do men just not wear shoes in this area? I'm just confused as to why we don't sell something as basic shoes? They have like five T-shirts and everything else is just crumbled up on the floor It's not necessarily the workers that need to be held responsible. It's the district manager up that should be fired. Your elevator has been broken for at least 3 days why is it taking this long to repair. it's a real problem for handicapped customers. also you pack your racks so tight very hard to shop this way also you hang thing to high up I'm 6'3 and I can't even reach it way too crowed on sales floor. your whole store needs help. read more

This place is my alternative for other TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Not because they are worse than others, as a matter of fact, the service is one of the best I have seen. It is just too small for me, that is it. Maybe because it is in the expensive area? I have been to several in different areas. This one has a restroom and that is thoughtful. And the restroom is also clean as I inspected and washed my hands there. The stuff is ok, the first floor has more than upstairs. The household area does not have many selections compared to other branches. Maybe it is also due to the shoppers. I refunded one item and the process was really nice and fast. Briana is young, friendly and fast enough to finish within one minute. I feel good for the whole process. I have stopped by several times to check out the new items, not each time I will buy something. But I bought Christmas chocolate just last night here. It is just the right time of the year for this. And TJ Maxx is definitely ready. A nice quiet location for this branch. I don't know where the parking lot is as I arrive on foot. It is also safe without people bothering you outside. That makes me feel safe. Fee days ago I visited again and Audrey was helping me. She is nice and helpful, definitely a managerial candidate. read more

There are a lot of goldmines at this TJ Maxx! I went searching for a white shirt for my fiancé and within about 3min I had found a once $100 linen shirt for $14.99. It was *thrilling*. I usually go to the TJ Maxx near the Beverly connection and comparatively the selection here leaves a lot to be desired. To be fair, I usually go for the hair and body care sections. This TJ Maxx has an unexpectedly small selection for how large the store is and you find far fewer exciting brands and gems. I'm used to finding amazing brand deals probably because the store near Beverly connection is so near prestige shopping. I was really disappointed in the selection here. Generally love this store. Most of the staff are friendly. Bought a $40 pot 2 days ago, filled it with water to boil pasta and water came leaking out the seam of the pot. It was obviously defective. Took it back today and the highly unpleasant junior manager said they would not take it back because it isn't in "salable condition". Of course it isn't, it's defective. The craziest thing is white folks steal more than blacks and have just as much money as white folks! I am a frequent shopper at the Westchester Location and I've NEVER had a cashier have to type in my Mothers credit card number! Wtf type of bullshit is that? Typing my Mothers numbers in instead of allowing her could DEFINITELY mean your cashier could use her information. Secondly, how would she type her OWN credit card number incorrectly that's right in front of her? That's a HUGE RED FLAG! I was checking out and the lady at the register had asked if "I had a phone number with tj maxx" and I said no so she asked if I wanted to sign up. I said yes, I thought I could punch in my phone number when I occasionally shop at tj maxx. However she started asking for my residence, my social security number and my drivers license. After all of that and the process of putting in information I asked her, "you need all that private information just to sign up?" And she said it was for the tj maxx CREDIT CARD. I did not want a credit card and she did not emphasize or even mention the credit card in the first place. When I was asking her questions for clarification on all of that, she had the audacity to give me a big attitude and say "it's for the credit card, were you not listening to me?" As she moved all my items off the counter to point at the picture of the credit card on the counter which she did not show me when I first got there. Now I have to deal with calling customer service and finding a way to cancel this credit card because it's getting shipped to my old address out of state which was on my ID. I came here to shop around for a black dress to wear for an event and decided to browse around the store. I first walked through the clothing aisles and their pricing were decent. There were several racks in which the prices were above $200. Apparently this TJ Max is considered a runway store meaning they carry high end name brands at low prices. The second floor has home goods/undergarments/ men clothing etc. There is also a large area with kids educational toys and books. You will also find Christmas/Easter items available during those times. I was also able to buy generic greeting cards and gift bags here are very good prices. I browsed the bottom floor and to my surprise they had brands like the Marc Jacobs shadow set for as low as $20. I found the same set at Sephora for $77. Wow. What a deal. They also have smash box products, MAC, and elf. Brunch sets there are also very discounted. I bought a charcoal face mask that came with 5 disposable packets for only $4.99. I love this TJ Maxx!!! I'm only deducting a star, because unless your my daughter's size (extra-extra Small/XXXS), the clothing selection (sizes) is limited. I'm no oversized behemoth either, but come on man! There are those who weren't blessed being born petite...Lol! But they do have a lot of top brands/names or designer I should say. They do also have a lot of top brands in accessories, so for me that makes it worth my while. It's two stories! Clothing first floor and Men's, Children's and home stuff upstairs. The home items, especially decorating was pretty darn good!! Seasonal items also just as nice as the department stores, although limited still a lot cheaper! Quality items too!!! Location is great, it's down the street from the Promenade. It's walking distance to the beach. I think the only issue would be if you drive there, the parking (I walk around there a lot from Brentwood or bus it while I'm waiting on hubby, so doesn't effect me at all!) I wish there were more TJ Maxx's in Southern Cali. This store has a better selection of handbags, clothes, luggage, and shoes. More high end women's clothing brands like Diane von Furstenberg and Tory Burch, which were also marked down. Having said that, I am skeptical about the authencitiy of very expensive handbags, the few D&G, Chloe and even Longchamps. I once bought a Fendi purse at the Sherman Oaks TJ Maxx that turned out to be counterfeit. I checked the serial number. Do your research when buying a luxurious brand here. Some stores leave out last season's handbags. I noticed some handbag tags said they were this season. You also have your choice of vegan purses. The second floor has a large selection of candles and houseware. I like the frames clearance section, although it's messy. Good service and lines move quickly. The plus side of shopping in downtown Santa Monica is overhearing different languages of tourists including my personal favorite, French. The downside is paying a higher sales tax rate than Los Angeles. 90 minute free parking is available at a structure 1/2 block south on the west side of 5th Street. Four stars for better selection, good service and clean bathrooms. read more

TJ Maxx came through for me again! During my last check in, I bought a dress for thanksgiving dinner, a lovely affair in our family. It was one of my favorite brands, Reiss, whom I worship/covet but have a hard time paying full price for. I wore it, received a bazillion compliments but to my disappointment I noticed the seams completely split at my shoulder backs when I went home- faulty stitching. The fabric is a thin, gossamer & completely unrepairable after just one wear. I returned it with Josh, the manager/my hero and received a store credit. So relieved since I frequent this location all the time & am a legit maxonista. This location in particular has a phenomenal selection of high end brands, denim, ready to wear, shoes & even some runway pieces on occasion. By far the most rotating variety of premium brands I've seen at a location. Their home goods is also well stocked with Tupperware & gourmet foods. That said, it can be a bit disorganized on occasion, especially the upstairs home goods departments. For instance the paper goods selection is frequently over flowing as are the water bottles, gourmet foods and the frames. But considering the discounts you're receiving, it's worth the effort to dig through the chaos. read more

This review is not for the quality of the merchandise. Today I was there and the stock was fantastic. I will take issue with their mask policy. There were people online in the store who had taken off their masks. When I mentioned this to the cashier he basically just said he would not be the mask police. I hope the store staff reads this and takes action or responds to this yelp. Once I get a articulate response from someone in charge I can remove the negative stars. But for now, beware.
