In the process of Katy becoming an Asian enclave juggernaut (#1), this Daiso came at just the right time during the initial boom. The store sign is as retro as the rest of the strip mall block and has remained a steady place for affordable Japanese imported goods. Compared to other stores in the country, this one is spacious and features an excellent inventory for all to explore. The store layout is simple, but clean, organized, and extremely tidy. Their kitchenware and home goods are my go-to and the office / school supplies are always a hit. Every few weeks the selection of goods changes, so while they have a wide range of products, keep an eye out for seasonal goods like snacks, stuffed animals, and holiday items. From quirky gifts to household items, there really is something for everyone here. Gone are the days where everything was a $1, but most items are priced right around the $1.50 mark and up. I don't know how it's going to look due to the upcoming tariffs, but fingers crossed that the price tag stays relatively the same. Their budget friendly concept means folks will still keep coming, Because parking is in a large shared lot, it's never an issue finding a spot. It may lack the new bells and whistles of its sister location in Cinco Ranch (#2), I'm happy they've managed to expand to offer additional unique options to the Katy-Houston area. Neat selection of Sanrio items, candy and kitchen plastics but I couldnt figure out pricing so I didnt buy anything. I asked another customer how to figure out price but she was in the same predicament that I was. You were supposed to decipher some numbers on the back of the item thats written in japanese. Its like the store couldnt afford price tags or take the time to post signs so people walked away empty handed--except preteen or teen girls who didnt care about prices as its their parents' money anyway. read more

Daiso is always a must visit when I visit Texas since Florida does not have Daiso (yet). Plenty of aisles filled with affordable assortment of items. They have cute items such as stationaries, Disney themed goods, dishware, skincare, etc! There are signs throughout the store explaining the pricing system but you can always ask the friendly staff to help you out. Definitely give this place a visit. Love Daiso! Made a visit early Feb 2023. A cute and extremely affordable shop of Japanese goods. They have everything from home goods to stationery items. I was pleasantly surprised with the different products they carry which included some Disney branding and reusable bags. I'm excited to come back to check out their mini cards! I would have bought everything from the store if I could but there isn't enough room on my carry-on. They have clear bags for event venues to that are normally $16 on Amazon. This place has all the cutest things that are from Japan. Most things are $1.50 a piece but if the product has any Japanese Yen price, then there is a sign that tells you how much it is in USD. The signs are everywhere so it can't be missed. You can easily spend quite some time just looking at everything and debating whether to get it or not! (Get it or regret it!) The store is clean and organized. The snacks/food section looks ravished. Not much left, but maybe it's because they aren't getting able to get the products from overseas yet. I got some cute porcelain figurines, organizer racks, and kitchen dishes. In my mind, everything was $1.50, but it all adds up at the end though! Anyway, I don't regret it. It's all too cute! I was in the area for my internship and saw that they were currently open for their soft opening so I had to go in! On Aug 31st and Sep 1st they will have a grand opening weekend event! Merchandise: 5 What I loved about this store was that it was like a Japanese version of an American dollar store! I also loved that it sold items that are sold in their Asian branches! They have a wider variety of lunch containers, kitchen supplies, and home goods then FIT did and they also have 3 aisles dedicated to snacks! Most things are $1.50 but they will mark the items which are more expensive. Disclaimer: Anime fans will be disappointed since there isn't really any anime merchandise like FIT or Japan House. The cashier CHARGED ME FOR EXTRA ITEMS I did not have and didn't even give me my receipt! The cashier had to call the manager over to help her out with a problem. I left and realised I was missing an item and I had to go back in to ask her if she forgot to give me my item. She said yes and apologized. I got home and bc I was paranoid with the way the cashier was working, I started counting up my items. I should've been charged $30.50, but I was charged $35.72. Literally wtf. I've been to many Daiso locations and this one is no different than the rest. Good sized store that is well kept and stocked with different Japanese items throughout. A woman's shopping paradise where one can probably spend up to 2 hours in there (such as my wife). You can find a bunch of knick knack items for all areas of your home and also different snacks that are not normally sold in regular stores. All staff are seen either stocking on the floors or taking care of the register which shows dedicated employees. Definitely a good location to check out if you're wanting to shop at Daiso. read more

This place reminds me of FIT which is no longer open. It's kinda like a Japanese dollar store. We decided to check it out based on reading about it in the paper for their grand opening and we were greeted by a horde of people! It was so busy there were lines forming outside and they were letting people in as they checked people out. Man everything is $1.50 here unless otherwise noted and that's practically everything! You can find a lot of useful things here and especially get great deals on ceramics and glassware! Very impressed! I told my wife we need to come by here during the week when it's not so busy! We walked out with about $20 of stuff but felt like it was worth a lot more! So if you like Dollar Stores you will absolutely love this place! Unique. Different. It's a cute Japan $1.50 & up store (under $10). It's like the 1.00 store. One stop shop. Fairly cheap & unique stuff to buy. You can find some of the snacks & drinks at other Asian grocery store in Houston. They sell stationary, cooking utensils, make up, cool gadgets, toiletries, containers, & other stuff you may not find anywhere else. Being from Seattle where we had several Daiso stores, my husband and I were looking forward to finally getting one in the Houston area. We tried the Katy location first since it's been open almost 2 months. We were expecting to find the usual Daiso merch. It's a large well lit store, but half of the aisles were empty of goods. It's as though they haven't finished stocking their shelves, kind of surprising since they've been open awhile. They had some dollar-store brand makeup (LA Looks) which isn't typically seen in Daisos. Their overall selection of everything was pretty limited, and we were disappointed to find no electronics section! They had a few classically hilarious items like "Disposable Men's Underwears" (not a typo). For the ladies, there are some lovely "Seamless Fixation Pants", so, you know, get those. before they're gone. See photos. Overall there wasn't much to set this location apart from your average dollar store. We're going to check out their other Houston location. We'll probably stop in again if we happen to be in Katy. This is the only store I walk into for one thing and come out with five! Hands down, the greatest convenient store around. You can purchase anything from snacks and drinks to portable sleeping bags! So sad I am writing this update! I visited Daiso today and some of their aisles were literally empty! I wanted some cute school supplies but they only had like 5 white 3 ring binders and that's it. Then they had very small notebooks but nothing that I could take notes on. I looked for agendas too but they only had TWO agenda designs in the whole store, which was a bit disappointing. I ended up just taking pens I didn't need (as always), some make-up brushes and a notepad. I did not find what I originally went in for. I love visiting Daiso, so I really look forward to seeing more options the next time I stop by! read more

Japanese dollar store, what more can you ask for? Well, it's actually one of the many Daiso stores I've been to that doesn't have much to offer. Many items are not price so you can't even convert and have to walk up to the register to ask or find out when you're paying. Luckily there's a standard so all the stores are kept clean. This particular location only had one person working the big store! I would suggest putting prices for items or have a price scanner so many customers don't ask other customers to guess the price while an employee is busy with another. Plenty of parking spaces so that's always a plus when you don't have to fight for a parking spot (unlike in Cali, haha). read more

If you love cheap little Japanese trinkets and snacks, this needs to be on one of your go to places. This is one (of two) stores that they recently opened in the latter part of 2018. The place is your typical "dollar store" type store with an Asian twist. The environment is more upscale than the typical dollar stores. The people working there add on to the already bright atmosphere and make it a good experience. You'll end up admiring the trinkets that you never thought you needed and probably end up buying a few due to most items being priced at $1.50. Items that cost more than $1.50 have a sticker that tells you how much they cost. I have heard from friends that these newly opened Daiso stores are more limited than ones outside of Texas, so hopefully they can add on and make these stores just as grand! I would describe this place as a happy merge between a Japanese store and a Dollar General. There are huge signs to let you know that everything is $1.50 unless items is priced as marked. Everything was beautifully stocked and the whole store was so clean and organized. We ended up buying bookends and cute chopsticks which we really didn't need, but they are just too adorable to not buy! My friend and I visited during the second day of Daiso's grand opening and boy was it busy. The parking lot and the store was packed, but everyone was courteous of each other so getting around was not a problem. There were rows and rows of items from beauty products, home supplies, cookware, snacks, etc. I was really interested in the Japanese beauty products and how inexpensive they were. Some of the beauty products I purchased were nose strips, facial masks, and a lip product. I hope they work well. I thought checking out would take forever but it was actually pretty quick. The line was quite long, but moved quickly. There was a gentleman holding a sign letting people know where the line was. I came a couple of times during their soft opening. You can find most of the things you'd find at a Daiso in Japan from washi tape to emergency neck ties (for those pesky last minute job interviews). The toys are a little bit higher quality than a 99 cents store. You can even find toys popular in Japan (like kendama). I bought a ninja sword and plastic fruit cutting toys for my kids. I was also impressed with their beauty line. A lot of face masks and under eye patches. The food and snack section is sparse though. I hope they fill the shelves with more in the coming months. All in all, I'm pleased with the store. I can find things not available at my local Dollar Tree and items are a little higher in quality.
