Worst DQ ever. The line doesn't ever move. They are extremely slow and it's ridiculous. Need to learn to work efficiently. We have tried going 3 times in the past 2 months and we end up leaving every time because we wait in a 10+ car line and don't move at all after waiting 15 minutes. This place is a disgrace from the staff to the service to the rude attitude to the food itself! Let me just start by saying it is drive thru only and even with that was in line for 25 minutes when there were only 3 cars on front of me! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal, kids meal, and 2 tacos and a medium fry a la carte. The young Hispanic bald cashier guy was so incredibly rude and unfriendly. He opened up the window and just said the total amount. Closed the window then 10 minutes later hands me my food mind you no eye contact no interaction of explaining my order. The first bag is the tacos. One of them the shell was completely broken. The second bag consists of the 2 burgers and 2 fries. I told him this isn't the full order he looked at me with disgust and said what do you I said I'm missing the fries and also didn't get the cone that comes with the kids meal. He said when you order the kids meal you have to specify what you want. I said excuse me first off nobody asked what treat I wanted and second that is not my job that yours. So you're just not going to include it even though I'm paying for it!!?? I was floored! He then slams the window closed and went to go get the missing pieces. At this point I'm beyond upset because of how unprofessional and rude he is being and how he even can work in customer service. Again, hands me my missing items no eye contact no apologies. At this point it was pointless to even try and get my taco replaced after being in line for so long. The food was barely room tempt the wrapper the burger was in was half way off. BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME AND $24!!! All the while the car that was in front of me had to circle back around because of missing or incorrect items and the other female worker had to go outside since the dining room is closed to talk to her. I don't think things got settled because she was then asking for a manager! This just goes to show how horrible this store location is and the general manager should be aware of the type of service they are providing! The only reason I rated this review a 1 star is because there was not a zero star option! TRUST ME DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!! You will leave disappointed and angry!! Shame on you DQ!!! Food is good as many other DQ's but the wait is abnormally long. That's the reason for the 3 stars on my review. It shouldn't take 20 minutes for a steak finger basket. And there was only 2 cars ahead of me at the drive thru. Of course I don't know of those other circumstances that might affect the wait-like a large order, or busy restaurant lobby etc... but the wait at the drive thru was long. It's always super slow here. But go if you like dirty grimy hands handing over your order that is incorrect, and also feel free to go if you like dealing with an employee who is argumentative. I've always waited through the stupid long line to get an order for myself and the free pup cup for my dog. I've gotten pup cups at this at this location many times, and at other DQs across the country. The employee wanted to argue with me that they were charging full price for the doggie cup and that they always have. Ugh, if I wanted to argue, I'd stay home with my family. What a dunce. This location is so bad it's almost comedic. On one occasion, I got a coupon for a free Blizzard. I made this known while placing the order and pulled around front. The employee working the counter ended up charing me anyway, I just didn't realize it until I got the receipt. I brought this to his attention to which he just said "oh" -- like seriously you forgot from the time it takes someone to drive from the side of the building around the corner? Then he takes my phone (which had the coupon on it) REDEEMS the coupon and comes back to tell me his manager says there's nothing they can do unless I want to just add a free one now -- well considering the coupon had a timer on it, I guess it's a free blizzard now or forever hold my peace. I've like their crispy Chick'n salad (extra dressing) and I've been coming here getting them here and there as of late and it's almost become a running game on how many different ways the same order can be made. Sometimes I get 3 dressings. Sometimes 4. Sometimes it comes with crackers sometimes it doesn't. It makes you wonder how bad the restaurant runs operationally because there's obviously breakdowns in the system somewhere when the same order can be made like 9 different ways. It may even mean we don't know the recipes or what's supposed to come with what -- I mean there's as many possibilities as what this could mean as there are order combinations for the same order apparently. read more

The amount of disrespect an employee has to have to flip off a customer is beyond me. My husband and I stopped at Dairy Queen because I'm pregnant and wanted ice cream and while we already don't love this Dairy Queen for the slow service, this was the tip of the iceberg. Two employees were walking around the lobby (even though there was a long line that could've been tended to) and one of the employees kept staring at us through the window. I looked up just in time to catch him flipping my husband and I off. 0 reason was given, no dirty looks or nasty words on our end, we just simply looked inside at these employees sitting there doing nothing. If Dairy Queen only sold ice cream I would give it a solid 5 stars. The blizzards here are a really special treat on a hot day. The drive through at this particular location always seems to be exceptionally busy, but orders are typically completed quickly and the line moves fast. To the people complaining about the drive through - there is almost never any sort of line INSIDE the actual building. Although the drive through is convenient, if you don't want to stop and eat you will get much faster service if you just park and go inside to order. I've never been disappointed by the ice cream here, although the fries leave much to be desired. read more

As a former employee of Dairy Queen, I have never been so DISGUSTED with a DQ location in my life. I have visited DQs all over Texas and know that DQ is synonymous with quality, care, and service. I have given this location several chances because it is closest to my house, and it SHOCKS me every time with how bad it is. RUDE employees, HORRIBLE drive through with very, very long wait, crappy food, dirty restaurant, etc. Tonight they stopped serving food early before closing but are supposed to accept orders and close at 10pm. We were then STUCK in the drive through lane WITHOUT GETTING FOOD for 20 minutes because of how the curvy closed-in drive through lane is built which doesn't allow anyone to back up, nor to pass cars ahead of you. The scruffy looking employee who called himself the "manager" didn't seem to care. Each DQ location has to clean thoroughly AFTER closing, but I doubt this location does because they seem to think 10:00 is when employees get to walk out the door. I will forever drive out of my way to another location just to avoid this location. read more

I was in the mood for a blizzard on a Sunday night and decided to visit Dairy Queen in Helotes. The blizzard was good. No compliants there. I had the Reese blizzard, I would recommend the resse blizzard if you like peanut butter like I do. The restrauant experience if self was not the best. The lines were long both inside and at the drive thru. I went in side the restrauant and it took about 20 mins to get my blizzard. As I made my order I could see over the counter at the floor where the staff was working. There was candy toppings, fries, and other items all over the floor. The place was not the cleanest. I have been a patron of this Dairy Queen for over 15 years. Over the last two months I have found the service to be incredibly sub-standard (when they manage to open on time!). Two out of my last three orders have been incorrect.. And after 15 years of being able to substitute a side salad in place of fries, I was denied that opportunity. Over the past 15 years the management has been friendly and helpful but today's management leaves a lot to be desired. I will no longer patronize this Dairy Queen. read more

I wouldn't recommend coming here. We waited for our food for 15 minutes and when it came out, it wasn't good. The lettuce on my grilled chicken was brown and old, the bread was soggy from the tomato juice, the fries were cooked so long they tasted like potato chips. We sat and watched the drive thru line while dining in and it didn't move much at all. There were people backing up and leaving and I felt bad for the ones who were trapped and couldn't leave the drive thru line due to being blocked in. Clean inside and outside, my boyfriend said the bathroom was clean. This is the only time I've been here though so I'm not sure how it is during other times. On a weeknight during the summer it's faster to go in - the drive thru is 10 cars deep & takes forever. We tried to the new s'mores blizzard and it was really good! There were mini chocolate squares filled with marshmallow flavoring and crumbled graham cracker. It tasted exactly like a s'more ... until you get to the last 2 inches! It was plain ice cream, no topping in sight :-( Good thing we didn't get the small as originally planned, there would have only been toppings on the very top & our experience would have been much different. Even though I'm rating three stars this is usually the Dairy queen i stop at since it is very convenient as it is close to home. Rating it three stars cause I've been there various times and seem to always get a soft blizzard so soft that the employees never hand me my blizzard upside down. Service is somewhat slow.
