Cinco De Mayo evening, 2026, 8:30 PM, Helotes Dairy Queen location. My wife was in the mood for a Blizzard and this is the closest location to us. Waited 20 minutes in the drive thru to get two watery blizzards, one of which spilled on my car door. No wonder she wouldn't turn it upside down, they were both melted. Again, carrying the tradition, the Helotes location continuing to be the worst Dairy Queen in San Antonio. Whomever owns and manages this location in Helotes, you are a disgrace to the Alamo Ranch community and should be fired from the restaurant business. Gave it a second chance, what a disappointment coming here again, I've learned my lesson. read more

01 Sep 2024 We had just finished our late lunch at 6 Klicks, which is located just across the parking lot. We didn't even have to move the car. We each had an ice cream cone and ate them there. They appear to do a much larger drive-through business than on-site customers. The place could have been a little tidier. It appeared they weren't cleaning up right away when inside customers left. However, while we were there, an employee did come out and start sweeping up the French fries on the floor. The soft serve is always just fine and it was here, too. I think this store get a bad rap. I went through there this morning and was quickly greeted, order was repeated back to me. The lady the took the order and made the order and took payment was just absolutely amazing. Not only was my order quick, hot, exactly how I ordered it. She still managed to say hi to my pup. Slow drive thru! Employees seem really unenthusiastic about being there. Never been inside but from the window it didn't seem very clean. Watched a girl wiping down areas with a disgusting looking rag. Saw a mouse or rat outside while waiting in line for ice cream. I'd saw don't waste your time here. read more

Ok so basically they put a bread tie in a sandwich and I bit down on it full metal wire and all its crazy yall I called and this CHILD answers and asks "why" when I ask for the manager then asks what a bread tie is LOL THEN this old lady answers after I've been clearly set down I also hear laughter in the background and literally says she doesnt know what's going on and shes not the cook UHHH??? Normal experience here. The lady who took my order was sweet but forgot half of my food after saying it was all there. When I came back the manager apologized and explained all the staff was new so I get it. The onion rings were way over cooked and my Dude sandwich fell out of the wrapping and into the bag, which eventually tore a part and broke because they stuffed it with too much. Also a little annoyed because the only reason we came was for $.89 Blizzards were had to be ordered through the App, which I def don't have, and you could only get one. I hate these stupid kind of promotions. Only leads to frustration and a renewed sense of why I don't come here often. No photos. Not worth the effort. read more

I have been trying to be empathetic towards this location as it is in a small town and short staff. I just can't anymore. On more than one occasion we ordered chocolate dipped cones. The same guy (with long finger nails and no gloves on ) is the employee that swiped my card and also made the dipped cones. He never put on gloves to make the cones. I thought I was losing my mind, so I went back a week later. Same guy, no gloves. That is not sanitary. For the record, this is the drive thru. Inside I see them put on gloves. We were wanting the 75 cent special cones for the 75th anniversary and this was the closest Dairy Queen location. The line was long for off peak hours so we figured people are wanting the same thing. The wait was long. They must have been short staffed. I'm sorry but it's pretty low stars for the wait. The dipped cones once we got them were 5 stars. Worst DQ Ever! We stopped in for lunch and some ice cream to get out of this summer heat. The dining room was a sauna, and when we asked about the temperature, we were told that the AC was out of order. Surprisingly, the restrooms and counter areas where the employees work were nice and cool, so it seemed a little fishy. I get that the AC could have gone out, but some signs letting customers know that they will be eating in the heat would be nice. There is also a Wal-Mart and Home Depot not too far, so some fans to make it more comfortable. Or better yet... close your dining room until you get it fixed. The worst part of this was that we rushed thru our meal, as we were so uncomfortable and opted to just head out without finishing our food. Do not waste your time with this DQ. They are constantly closing the dining room to force customers to use the drive-through, resulting in ridiculously long lines. And, let me tell you, sitting in a drive-through line wasting gasoline for 30+ minutes in this 100+ degree weather is unacceptable. We've called the restaurant to ask what's going on, and we were told it's a "staffing issue". The solution seems simple: how about hiring enough staff to actually run your restaurant instead of closing the dining room to save a buck? My family and I have decided this DQ is dead to us. I've always heard their crunchy tacos were good and everytime I'd pass by I'd see a huge line so that means they must serve really good food right?! Hmmm nope! The long lines are just because the service is the slowest EVER! I only ordered 3 crunchy tacos and waited 25 minutes in the drive thru! Once up there, the guy at the window just said the total and gave me my food, no sorry for the wait or not even a simple hello. As for the tacos, they weren't bad, definitely better than Taco Bell. Went here for Veterans Day and stayed in my car. When I got to the intercom to order, I wasn't greeted. I told them I was there for the Veterans Day special and they wouldn't take my order and told me to pull up to the window. I insisted on giving them my order so it would be ready when I pulled up. When I pulled up, they made me think they filled my order (they repeated it), but once I left, I discovered they just gave me what they felt like. She had my ice cream cone in her hand when I handed her my money, then she closed the window with my cone still in her hand, dripping everywhere! Then, she started taking another order! So it's the biggest freeze/snow this week. We've had businesses closed due to weather. We saw the lines & thought it's a wait but the food will be fresh & worth it. I got a belt buster with cheese double near extra mustard. So when we got our order. The fountain drinks were good. French fries fresh & hot! They were good! My burger though was so disappointing. I didn't go back as the lines were long & I had waited 20 minutes for my meal. The meat was over cooked. The mustard was slobbery & messy with mustard all over the top of the burger. It was messy & my hands got full of mustard. I felt this was done on purpose or you have a cook in the kitchen who needs to go back to be re-trained! I have family who work in the food industry. Even after reading bad reviews about this place, we still took a chance. Right off the bat, not very friendly staff. Restaurant was dirty and things looked unorganized. My family all got Blizzards but they didn't put much of anything in them. They had the brownie batter Blizzard available again so I ordered one. Absolutely almost no pieces of brownie and pretty much no chocolate anything. It was mostly vanilla ice cream.... I have had a lot of these in the past and they have always been super chocolatey. We will not be returning ever again. 31 Flavors for us from now on! I hope one day they improve. read more

If I could give negative feedback I would! These dipped cones were pathetic, the ice cream was poured in and the cones left on the counter to melt, and that's because we sent them back for another dip because the worker handed them to us with a layer that was beyond thin. On top of that, the fire exit was blocked, that door to the kitchen was unsafely blocked and the staff was arguing amongst one another very loudly. Visited Dairy Queen because I had not had a blizzard in a long time. I have to say this was one of the nest Dairy Queen visits I have ever had. They made sure my blizzard had toppings/ingredients all the way to the bottom. Friendly service also made for a great visit to this Dairy Queen. Will surely visit this one again . read more

45 minutes before closing, 4 cars in line.. 3 workers cleaning an empty dining room instead of helping get food made. We can for TWO mini blizzards and waited forever! Avoid this location if you have to use the drive thru. All I wanted was a couple of Peanut Buster Parfaits. Unfortunately the cars in front of me ordered meals causing the line to wait to give the meals from the drive-thru window. They haven't learned to have the lengthy orders park in a parking spot and they deliver it to the cars freeing up the line. By the time I got up to the window (30 minutes later) my order was pre-made and placed in a cooler. This was unsat as it had already started to melt.
