Combo Guac burger meal without cheese Delicious seasoned fries 8/2024
Sabrina S.

Revisited, and it was delicious like the first time! A good size burger seasoned perfectly with no skimp amount of guacamole as it should be, all the produce , and a few tortilla chips for added crunch. Piled on quite a few jalapeños from their condiment bar too lol Their burger was grilled on a special rotating grill that added more flavor on top of flavor. The fries had a nice crispy outer texture , but the seasoning was super deelish- I was trying to figure it out- ?lemon, ?cheese, salt ... not sure, I may have to inquire next time. Check out their bestia challenge - 2 full burger meals down in 30 min gets you a t shirt : )

These burgers are no joke. Bring a friend, or two or come hungry cause these burgers are ni only delicious, but pretty enormous. The beef is well seasoned and that sesame seed buns they use are a throwback to great burgers from the past. The toppings are fresh but each burger comes with its own special set . Between the 3 of us, we ordered the different burgers and fries. As we eagerly anticipated our burgers, we tried their sauces which are PHENOMENAL. We got our burgers and dove right into them. It was comical because we couldn't seem to take a bite as they were pretty big. We cut them in half and you could see how juicy they were. Halfway through, we were struggling to finish them. Depending on which one you get, some can be messy, like mine - the guac burger. Toppings just fell out as I bit into it - a good sign that these are loaded. Love a big, juicy, messy burger! Both fries and onion rings were fantastic: hot, crispy and salted just right. But here is where you jist kick them up but dipping them into their sauces. Now, i don't know if these sauces were intended for their burgers but both the fries and onion rings seemed to be destined to be dunk in any of their 3 magnificent sauces. Thank me later! Overall, this joint hits all the marks!

Came here the other day with my fiance to get a couple of burgers to go. I did not have any issues finding a parking spot. When we went inside the place, it was not very busy. We were able to put our order in soon after we got in. I ordered a Bestia Burger without onions or tomatoes. I also ordered a Bestia Size Onion Rings. We sat down and waited for our order. The place has a casual feel and was clean. The food came out quickly. The burger was delicious, but I was disappointed that I had to pick off the onions and tomatoes that I said I did not want on the burger. If you are in the area and want a tasty burger, then I suggest this place

The Bestia Challenge. Eat two burgers in one sitting to beat it. A free hat & your picture on the wall is your prize.

This place won me over at the San Antonio Current Flavor event in early May 2024. I sampled their burger there. It was just as good at the brick and mortar location on Bandera road. The cheeseburger was big and had good flavor. I enjoyed the fries. The three dips for $1.99 were pretty good. It's the jalapeño,chipotle and bestia dips. I liked the bestia dip the most. The Bestia challenge is always available and easy in my opinion. All you have to do is eat two of the same burgers in one sitting and there is no time limit. You will get a free hat and your picture on the wall. It has been done many times already. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. I truly recommend this place if you're in the area and you want a delicious burger.

Wow, what a flavorful hamburger this place serves! The ambiance here is motivational to eat good meat. What a great find. The mesquite flavor is notable in your meal. We had one of the best onion rings we've tasted in a long time. Everything is truly made from scratch. I also loved the french fries that were made crispy and nice and hot! The attendants are all ready to provide you with the best experience. Service is excellent!

French fries! (I think its seasoned with lemon pepper!)

The staff was friendly and the menu was straight forward. The burgers are large and hefy! I got their bestia burger (just a regular burger with pepper jack cheese), french fries, and onion rings! I think they should have larger sides because I REALLY loved their french fries-- they have lemon pepper all over and are crispy! they onion rings are good too! It's a little bit on the expensive side, but the burgers are HUGE and well seasoned. It was so seasoned and thick that it kind of reminded me of a meatloaf! There was quite a bit of people when I was there. They also ahve a wall of photos for the bestia challenge. You have to finish two burgers in 15 minutes. You get the photo on the wall and a hat!

Food 5/5: delicious burger- great mesquite smoke and char. Big portion! Fries and onion rings fantastic- probably the best onion rings I've ever eaten! Also ordered the stuffed chilies - so-so. Not my favorite! Service 4/5: polite lady took order and brought food to table. Nothing fancy but clean tables and place. Definitely on our list to return to. If you like burgers, this is a great place.

Mesquite flame cooked burgers

This is my first time at Cuarto de Kilo and it was delicious! I got the #3 - the classic with bacon and cheese. The meal total came out to be around $16. The mesquite, open flame cooking of the burgers definitely gave the burgers a distinct flavor. Delicious! The burger is cut, which I appreciated, and huge! I should have stopped at one half. It was more than enough for my lunch, especially with the fries. But it was so good, I didn't want to stop! The fries are yummy! They have something on them to give them a little different flavor. I almost wonder if it's lemon pepper and salt. The employee who took my order and delivered it to my table was kind and patient. I appreciated their explanation of the meal options and her answering my questions. The ambiance is casual. A counter service restaurant with basic tables to sit at. The service is good and the decor is fresh. This is a great place for lunch with a good, filling burger and fries!

I had planned to go eat dinner with my son. I left the location up to him and he gave me three Helotes restaurants to choose from, since we planned on getting frozen custard out there after dinner. We talked the choices over and headed over to our top choice. As we arrived, we noticed a large handwritten sign saying they were closing at 2:00 PM. This was at 1:55. Being used to this type of thing (the Baker curse), we headed to choice number two. As we pulled into a parking space, my son noticed a "new to us" sign in the neighboring complex. It mentioned hamburgers, so we dropped all plans and went there instead. Neither of us had even heard of this place. When we got home, my wife said it had been there for a while. She had heard good things and bad things. Fortunately for us, we got to experience it with no background information and no preconceived notions floating in our heads. Let me just say that I really liked this place overall. Yes I held back a star, and I can explain that. There were two things I did not like: 1) They use those ridiculous little see-through napkins that make you use about 25 each by the end of your meal. I do not see how any business is saving money, when a customer needs a 2 inch pile of them. 2) The bun on my burger seemed just a bit dry for my tastes. My son, however, did not agree with that at all. The burgers are made to order. They grill them on a really interesting round grill over mesquite. You can see the photo. They only have burgers, fries, onion rings and dipping sauces. Nothing else. There are four choices of "pre-designed burgers" ranging in price from $8.99 to $11.99. You can also see them in one of the photos.. Both my son and I opted for the "Classic with Bacon & Cheese". We also both ordered fries. He had a fountain drink, and I paid for a Mexican Coke. Let's talk about the food. The burgers were HUGE. I was going to go up and ask for a knife, as I always cut my burgers in half, but upon unwrapping it, I saw that they had already cut it for me. The patty was big and thick. Most importantly, it had a very strong and delicious beefiness to it. As I said above, I thought the bread was a tiny bit dry, but that was probably the result of the toasting process. They have a challenge where you get a t-shirt and a free burger on your next visit if you can eat two of their burgers in one sitting. One of the pictures shows the photos on the wall of the dudes who did that. Let me say this: I am an old fat man who used to eat whole pizzas in my younger days. I had trouble eating all of ONE burger. The fries are delicious. We couldn't figure out what the extra taste we noticed (or imagined). They were peppered and salted, but I thought they might have used some of that stuff they dress beer with (chamoy?). My son thought it was lime. Anyway, they were really good. They give a lot of them. Some of you light eaters would be very satisfied sharing one burger and an order of fries. The place itself is not really big, but the tables are spread out and comfortable. The service was wonderful. Our server even came to the table several times to ask if we needed anything. She even offered to refill drinks. I should say that the burgers take a little longer than some other places. I would say we waited about 15 - 20 minutes for our food. If you are the impatient type- Burger King is down the street. I know I will be back soon. My wife wants to try it, and my son wants to try the challenge. Yes, I think he is crazy, too. He couldn't even finish his frozen custard after eating one burger. How would he manage a second one?

Visited this burger place because of advertising and the show on tv. Upon entering there was no greeting. Inside was filled with smoke from the hamburger cooker area. Hamburgers were small and tasted like a meatloaf burger? We did not care for them and the fries were small and covered in what I guess was lemon pepper? We ordered two burgers, fries, and fountain drinks. It was way over priced and not worth it. The young girl working the register seemed either very confused or didn't not understand English very well. I'm not sure, took a little while to get the order entered correct. However, the music was blaring and it was hard to hear. We will not be going back to try anything else unfortunately.

The burgers were huge and juicy. They give you a card for $10 off your next purchase that you can use within the week. We were greeted by friendly staff, and we didn't wait long to receive our food. I ordered the basic cheeseburger, and we also ordered the bbq fried onion ring burger, it was delicious. I would recommend this place if you're in the area and want a great tasting burger.

The food here was pretty good, a little pricy though. There was a decent amount of seating in the small space, but a little tight. We really enjoyed the burgers, fries and onion rings but the pepper stuffed with cheese (can't remember the exact name for it) didn't have much flavor. Staff was friendly. Plenty of parking in the lot.

Closeup of the grill - real mesquite wood!

Cuarto De Kilo's a brand new (as of June 1 2023) business opening where the former 'Rome Pizza' used to be. They claim to be one of the leading burger places in Mexico, and after a visit I would believe them. Forget shakes or other niceties! This is a stripped down burger place that serves grilled meat on a bun (and some nice sides) without apology. The patty's a slight departure from a classic American beef one - it's still tender and juicy beef, but there's a hint of herbs and other ingredients in the meat. It's also HUGE, at least 1/3rd of a pound and close to an inch thick. (Future Michael: Cuarto de Kilo means 'Quarter Kilo'. A quarter kilo hamburger is a shade over 1/2 a pound - no wonder these burgers are so big!) Of course the standout is that it's grilled on mesquite wood, on a disc-shaped grill you can see from the dining area. The mesquite perfumes the room and adds a nice, lightly smoky flavor to the burger. I'd describe it as having a delicious burger cooked over a campfire. Fries are also excellent and cooked to order, and be sure to try the house dip of habanero mayo, which is so good it deserves to be slathered on. Highly recommended, check them out! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK having a nosh here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

FIRST TIME VISIT!…read more Woohoo! Been looking for chili cheese fries and happened upon a review for this place boasting fries with a homemade chili so we HAD TO stop in tonight. THE LOCATION: on the very end of a string of businesses in a strip mall that I've never been in before, so that was cool. Lots of parking, that'll never be an issue. And right off the 410. THE MENU: Burgers, dogs, Mexi-style munchies and a variety of frozen dessert-type items like shakes, frozen fruit concoctions and Italian ice. THE STAFF: I wasn't overwhelmed with a warm welcome and smiles, at least from the guys. Lol! They should really work on that. There was a sweet gal who ran out our food orders and she was great. THE FOOD: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich deluxe with tots and a sweet tea. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked well and the bun was lovely, slightly sweet and toasted. Overall, the sandwich could've used more flavor, like a creamy bbq spread and cheddar instead of the "Swiss" cheese that tasted more like American cheese. But overall, 7/10. The tots were extra crispy and the guy who took my order didn't take heed to my request for ranch. I was too lazy to get up again so I settled for ketchup. The sweet tea was nicely sweet and fresh, I'll be sipping this in my dreams. The hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries and an Oreo cookie shake. The burger looked good and he ate it quick, so there's that. This guy can EAT so it surprised us both when he slowed down fast after eating that burger. Lol! He kept saying how filling it was, but then he also killed a large shake before the food arrived, so there's that. He ate most of his chili cheese fries, leaving me a few bites to sample. Not bad. I order a Coco Haven frozen dessert to go and omg is this thing delightful! Vanilla ice cream and coconut Italian ice (?) with a blue snow cone-like syrup drizzled throughout. I loved the texture of what I believed to be Italian ice. Smooth and flaky, a perfect icy dessert. OVERALL: decent eatery, the hubby said we can go back (LOL!) Shockerrrrr! But I recommend the staff tries harder to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable. The next visit will be telling.

The first issue was using the InKind app. We spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to use it because ordering ahead wasn't working, and none of the employees seemed familiar with the process. One employee was patient, friendly, and genuinely tried to help us figure it out, which I appreciated. After finally placing our order, we were told it would take about 15 minutes. Instead, we waited roughly 40 minutes, and didn't receive our food until 11:00 p.m., right at closing. I understand we came during the last hour before closing, which is why I specifically asked if we had enough time. If the kitchen was backed up or our order was going to take 40+ minutes that late in the evening, I would have completely understood. I just wish we had been told that up front instead of being quoted 15 minutes. By the time we received our food, it was closing time. Thankfully we ordered it to go, because if we'd planned to eat there, we wouldn't have had the opportunity. When our food was finally ready, the bag was already ripping because something inside had leaked. The employee noticed right away, grabbed two new bags, and repacked everything, which I appreciated. We ordered quite a bit to sample the menu: the Cali Chick (lettuce wrapped), Hot Chick, Buff Chick, Little Mule, Totchos, onion strings, sweet potato fries, and a Teriyaki Chicken Caesar Wrap (which we haven't tried yet, so I can't comment on that one). Unfortunately, the food we did eat was very disappointing. The lettuce-wrapped Cali Chick was a mess--the lettuce was so wilted it couldn't even function as a wrap. The onion strings, Totchos, and sweet potato fries had all lost their crispness by the time we got them, and everything was lukewarm or cold. The Little Mule ended up being our favorite burger, while the Hot Chick definitely delivered on the spice. Ironically, the sweet potato fries were my favorite side, even though they came in the smallest portion. Our total was over $100 before the InKind discount, and I honestly wouldn't pay full price for this meal. The quality just didn't match the price. I don't know if the kitchen was short-staffed or if something else was going on that night, but waiting 40 minutes after being quoted 15 minutes--especially with almost no one else ordering--only to receive cold, soggy food was incredibly disappointing. I do want to give credit to the employee who helped us. He was polite, apologized several times for the delay, and even repacked our order when he noticed the leaking bag. Unfortunately, the overall experience and food quality just didn't live up to the price. Based on this visit, I couldn't justify spending over $100 for the experience we received. I hope this was just an off night, but it was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved a 2-star review.
