I travel 460 often & most of the time when I do, I stop here. I got a chicken strip kids meal with onion rings & a mini blizzard for my kiddo. They take 50 cents off the blizzard when getting a kids meal or you can get a cone. Parking is plentiful. There are gas stations galore nearby. The cops hide in that parking lot btw, so don't speed by or else. :) My food is almost always fresh. I recommend them if you're hungry or in need of a quick treat.

Love a great DQ and better yet a full service Grill & Chill store. This was an unexpected stop going out of town and a great one too! The location in the tiny town of Windsor, Va off highway 460 and it's a slammed DQ all day and offers late night dining with drive-thru. A large parking lot was clean and can accommodate RV, large truck parking. The walk up to the door tidy. In front of the counter clean and service immediate by a smiling employee. My observation was that all the staff was friendly and hustling about behind the counter. My order a #3 single patty burger combo with strawberry shake. My son a chicken strip basket with a cookie dough Blizzard. The bill around $20 w/ tax and no issues processing my card. There is no tipping. The dining room area was comprised of booths and tables and had a sun room. There were some customers, but overall not busy on a Wednesday around 430 PM. The drive thru steady. Everything was immaculate! Even on a 100° day an employee was outside wiping down tables in a small outdoor patio...just WOW! I then saw same employee wiping down tables inside. Drink order was called out, just before a young female staff carried a tray to the table and called our receipt number. Oh and if they forget to flip your Blizzard it's FREE! Of course they did flip it because the staff rocks! My burger was prepared correctly, hot and tasty. Fries seasoned just right and hot. My son reported the chicken fingers and fries were good. His small Blizzard was gone in a flash so I guess it was yummy. My Strawberry shake made with real strawberries delicious and as usual a bit tricky through a thin straw. They did put whip cream on it, I asked for none. Not a big deal. This is almost as good as fast food can get in my opinion. Service was top notch, cleanliness was fantastic and the bites and drinks tasty. Congratulations to the staff and management. It appears this visit is no fluke with a composite of 4 stars. Love to return.

Okay, guys. Calm down, it's just Dairy Queen. And with that said, it's not really a special one, either. I stopped here for a quick breakfast break during a trip from Fort Lee to Portsmouth. I suppose that's all the little town of Windsor is for, given its location where U.S. Route 460 intersects with U.S. Route 258. Yeah, go ahead and grab a quick bite to eat if you're just passing by. But if you actually live here and this is one of the best restaurants in your area, then sorry, but you have it rough. I got a sausage burrito ($2.69), a ham & egg sandwich ($3.19), and a small 177-milliliter cup of orange juice ($1.89). Everything was good, the food seemed plentiful, and service was fast. That doesn't mean I would come here to eat all the time or even again. It was too early when I was there for them to have actual burgers; they don't start serving those menu items until around 10 AM or so. This is your fairly standard fast food restaurant, not a five-star restaurant.

It's your typical everyday Dairy Queen. The staff was very nice, and the restaurant was clean. It's a perfect stop on the way to the beach.

We didn't see any mention of it on the signs and so was not expecting a restaurant with a buffet. We looked it over and though it looked pretty good, the $20 price tag seemed a bit much for what they offered. Fortunately, they also offer a full menu which we chose instead. My wife and I both ordered their Country Fried Steak. Though it took a while to get our drinks, the food came out in a timely fashion, and everything was delicious. My wife ordered Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens for her two side dishes. I ordered mashed potatoes w/gravy and green beans for my sides. After tasting her Mac and Cheese, my wife insisted that I taste them too. She was right! They were some of the best we've ever had. Similarly, my mashed potatoes - typically a pretty ordinary dish - were phenomenal. The portions were also a decent size. The only negative aspect about the who meal was that the Country Fried Steak itself was only warm. It was very tasty and tender but just not hot like the other dishes. If it had been, I would have undoubtedly given Virginia Diner five stars. Though we don't have a need to return to Waverly, I can certainly see us driving the hour or so back for another delicious meal at Virginia Diner.

State Route 52 was established in 1928 to connect Suffolk with Prince George County. In 1933, this road became part of the new U.S. 460 from Roanoke to the Chesapeake Bay. The highway was later extended to St. Louis, Missouri, but its western terminus was eventually fixed at Frankfort, Kentucky. To accommodate travelers' needs, entrepreneurs opened gas stations, motels, and cafes along the roadside. Among these was the Virginia Diner, which D'Earcy and Laura Davis established here in 1929 inside a refurbished Surry, Sussex and Southampton Railroad car. By the way the Fried Green Tomatoes were absolutely delicious, service was excellent and the gift shop was filled with peanut delights! Absolutely a must visit!

It has been a minute but hey, I'm always down to re-check out a place. First off, the lady that took our order was SUPER friendly. She was patient when we struggled a bit with our order (we did take a bit) and just gave a great vibe overall. We pulled up (drive-thru) and paid. The odd thing was that we were the only ones in the line and it took us like 14 minutes before we got our order. It was really odd waiting that long for fast food. However, I'm conflicted to give it a 3 on the rating b/c well.. the food was good. Great quality, fresh, hot, I mean seriously... if I had to pick between crummy and cold, I'd obviously choose the fresh and hot. SO.. overall, if they could keep the quality and staff friendly but drop the time a bit, this place would rock solid 5's all day. It's a rendition, the spices they use have an Indian flavor that I was not expecting. The quality of the food is great! The chicken tenders are huge, juicy and very flavorful but maybe not the flavor you would expect. Knowing this now, I would go back to try it again. The Dave's sauce is also not my favorite but mixed with honey makes it better. Also if you want the full flavor get the Hot, unless you can take it then get spicy (I do not recommend ) the spicy is very spicy lol. The wait time for you food is also pretty long, but you will get fresh food. Definitely worth giving a try

For the most part, it's street parking where we found a very good spot and restaurants and stores galore. Let's see how this spot turned out for us. Inside, the decor is very nice. They have a few tables inside and plenty in the outside patio. It's basically a spot that's takeout but if want to dine-in, that's totally fine. And they serve Kung Fu Tea, one of our favorite guilty pleasures that unfortunately closed near us months ago. After a few minutes, we ordered at the counter. Along with a large Strawberry Milk slush, I selected a 5 piece tender combo with a side of crinkle fries. First off, the slush was pretty good. At 50% sugar with boba pearls, it hit the sweet spot very well. It felt like old times when we used to order KFT often. But, the chicken combo itself was underwhelmimg. The food came out hot and ready, but the tenders were tough to break apart either by biting into it or with your hands if you dipped in any of their sauces. Sophia ordered a chicken sandwich and wasn't impressed, saying eating a Chick-Fil-A sandwich is better. That says a lot. I did take some home to eat for leftovers, but like earlier, could've been better. Not to put any bad press on the business, but it was disappointing. Again, it's basically a takeout spot and one for KFT admirers like us. We will come back only for that reason the next time we're around.
