I haven't been to Five Guys in a long time and now I remember why. I ordered my food online. They said it would be 5-10 minutes. I knew better because it was lunch time. So I arrived late and my food still wasn't ready. Thankfully, I only had to wait a couple of minutes while others had been waiting for who knows how long. I got my food home and noticed the bun. Crispy around the edges but with closer examination, it was more towards the burnt side. Not sure if the bread was stale or old but it definitely wasn't fresh. There wasn't much BBQ sauce on it and the lettuce had the rib part in the middle. And I know times have changed and days are gone of them giving basically a double order of fries for 1 single order but it's not like it used to be. Prices went up and portions went down. The taste was alright but I think I'll go somewhere else next time. read more

It's a five guys - good burgers, hot fries and cold shakes. They make your food right in front of you and their burgers hit the spot. The fries are really good but they always give you extra so I recommend getting the small fry instead of the regular. The free peanuts they have there were really good so they're a good snack while you wait. The only downside was this one had a weirdly oily / slippery bathroom floor. read more

I haven't been here in YEARS! We stopped in on a total whim... didn't realize how expensive it was... guess all those "free" toppings add up. Each burger was about 9 bucks... add fries.. a drink.. yikes. Costs more than a normal sit down burger in most places. However... the staff was VERY nice. The food took quite a long time but they said sorry for the wait. Those words, really mean a lot to just have that little bit of care. They were out of ketchup packets so I went back to the cashier and asked for ketchup since the other people were busy bagging and cooking. She said she would make some cups for me. I did see her wash her hands and make them, very nice. She said sorry for the wait.. again! Just the manners made it for me! Definitely add some malt vinegar to your fries!!! Five Guys is Five Guys. You know what you're going to get, burgers and fries. OK, you can get your hot dog or grilled cheese if you feel so inclined, but why? They make one of the best fast food burgers around. Yes it's a little expensive but as a guy who likes to load up the toppings, I have no issue with that at all. I got a double cheeseburger with bacon, hot toppings on the bottom, cold on top. Well done and juicy beef, cheese was well melted, the burger held together very well. Keynote: I didn't have a roll falling apart because of too much beef juice, and that's so important. I do wish they had additional sauces like a thousand island or different type of mustard. After he took my order, I almost walked away but he called me back and asked how my day was going and if I had had a nice weekend... Don't feel alone Hampton, as you have plenty of company. The bacon was burned, and while the burgers were ok, there's really nothing special about them. I see less fries than there used to be. While yes inflation is up, I can't believe what I dropped for a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a soft drink. Ridiculous. This location is in a great spot. It is extremely busy, and wait times were extensive. I was in the mood for a burger, and this left me desiring one of their once juicy ones with so many toppings. I'm not sure what this location is serving or how old or what type of oil is being used, but what was served was not even close to customary Five Guys quality. In addition, the portion was extremely lacking as it barely filled the white cup. Very disappointing, not a good value, and I can't recommend this location if this is their usual portion. Last night was the third time in a row where I asked for extra bacon on my burger is not only didn't get extra bacon, I got zero bacon. And then, when I asked them to rectify it, him I asked for extra bacon, so I would probably need a double portion, he gave me a few thin crumbs of bacon that did not even add up to regular amount of bacon. On top of that, the double meat burger has always been so big that I had to share it. Last night I finished it easily. I don't know what's going on at that store but there are some problems. I love Five Guys and eat there often but this location is different. I had my second bad experience there this evening. I got the smallest patty I've ever seen. I asked about it and was told that was the size of their burgers. I also get my burger in a bowl and for whatever reason this location puts the condiments on the food vs on the side like every other Five Guys. When I asked about it the employees were not polite at all. This is the second bad experience I've had at this location. Several years ago, Five Guys Burgers and fries arrived in my area. Eager to see what all the hype was about, I gave them a shot. Taking the whole family out for a burger experience, we were also taking a chance. Boy was I right! Some things discovered about Five Guys. Nice and clean restaurant with very friendly service. On the flip side the place is very expensive for a burger, fry and drink. For a family of four we easily spent over $50. Lastly the burgers were not seasoned and very bland, the fries were greasy and not seasoned as well. I personally made it a mission to make my own burger after this experience and never returned to Five Guys again.............until today Having a craving for a burger for lunch, I decided to give Five Guys another chance. Thinking that my experience with them from years ago must have gotten better after all these year............I was wrong. $14.73 for a double bacon cheese burger with a few toppings, fries and a drink. Once again the burger was tasteless, did not hold together well - I had a big mess half way through my lunch, and it was greasy. The fries, they gave me a lot of them. I notice the brown bag they were in was saturated with grease. Made me sick just looking at it. I tasted a few, they were greasy as I observed and had no flavor. I sprinkled some salt on them but there was no amount of salt that could improve the taste. The highlight of my meal was the drink. Dispensed from a multiply drink machine, it was nice and cold. I just don understand the hype about this restaurant. There are better burger places than these. The service with a smile was GREAT, adding an additional start to the review I was about to leave. Worst service we have ever had in a five guys. Just under 20 minutes to get two burgers and fries. There was one person ahead of us waiting so the place was basically empty of customers and one customer came in for a preorder pickup but waited also. So everyone that has been to a Five Guys knows how good their burgers and fries are..it's no big secret. What is different about this Five Guys is the staff. Everyone on that team is so friendly. They went out of their way to speak to me, ask me how I was doing, and make sure my burger was the way I wanted it. The manager asked about my holidays and we had a very cordial conversation. I was so excited that a Five Guys was opening up in Hampton that I waited over an hour in line the first day. I wasn't really worth the wait, but I like attending over-hyped events like that. I've been there a few more times, but I'm not in love with this place like I used to be. Great spot for a casual burger-and-fries lunch though. The food is made to order, so be prepared to wait a little. Pros: Free toppings (I always get BBQ sauce, A1, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles, jalapenos), tasty fries, notecards and crayons to doodle on when waiting for food, conveniently located across the street from Target. Cons: This is just me being a fatty, but I think their french fry portions have shrunk significantly. My boyfriend and I always share the regular size Cajun-style fries and there would be more than enough for the both of us. On our last visit, it seemed like the portion was cut by at least one third. Walked in and they were playing Led Zeppelin. They had me right there! I was a little worried when I looked up and saw such a small menu when I read at the bottom that you can fix your burger up just about any way you want. The food was just above fast food quality but no other fast food joints have freshly sauteed onions and green peppers. The free peanuts was a nice touch too. Okay, I'm a big fan of Five Guys. In fact, I'm a big fan of any establishment that sticks to doing just a few things really, really well. This is one of those places. You can only order burgers and fries, that's it. Oh, and soda, but you get the picture. A regular burger is a double, and you have to ask for a single if that's what you want. You can get it with cheese and/or you can get it with bacon. Also all the regular trimmings are free and your choice--lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. Fries are extra as is the soda, so really, there are no "combos"; you just choose what you want, which I like. And the fries are good, too; very thick and excellent when heavily salted. While you wait, you can help yourself to free peanuts, which is an interesting touch. The only thing is the price point. A bacon cheeseburger with fries and a soda will run you over $10, which is a bit high. But it's a great meal. The décor inside is very 1950's. This includes the outfits the employees wear and the overall aesthetic. The music kind of sucks, but then, I don't like 50's music, so it stands to reason I wouldn't like it. read more

If you're eating here with a family on a budget, be smart. The food is amazing. Many people complain that it's overpriced, but when you take into consideration the portion sizes, you really do get what you pay for. First off, a regular order of fries is enough for an entire family. I do not joke when I say that my family of six will only order one regular and have enough. Two orders, and we are taking a good bit home with us. Second, even the smallest burger is more than a child can eat alone. I can order one burger and split it between two kids. If I don't feel like ordering a burger, the kids can each have hot dogs (and kosher ones, at that). Either way, you can get out spending $2.50 - $3.00 a kid for burgers / hot dogs if you keep that in mind. Lastly, they typically do not have an issue with sharing drinks, as long as the members of your party can agree on one of the thousands of potential soft drinks. Our family can get out of there spending $30, if we plan ahead and keep these things in mind. However, if it's a group of adults headed out (and you don't split the fries), expect to spend between $10 and $15 per person. read more

I used to eat at Five Guys all the time many years ago and I remember them to be really good. Went for lunch today and I must say I was underwhelmed. I ordered a cheeseburger, med fries and large drink. The burger was huge and soggy. I don't mind huge but trying to eat a big burger on a wet bun just makes a mess. The fries were equally soggy and less than enjoyable. But hey, it's a fast food place! And I didn't expect a gourmet burger.....but I also didn't expect the gourmet price. $20....TWENTY FLIPPIN' DOLLARS?????....Holy Sox. I could go across the street to one of many sports bars and get a decent burger, fries and a beer or 2 for $20. At $10 for a burger, $5 for fries and $3 for a large drink it just ain't worth it....$3 for a drink? What is this? A movie theater? I mean come on!
