Dagwoods Cafe is a pleasant casual local spot in Langford serving up sandwiches, salads, soups, pastries and coffee. The Americana decor is 40s, 50s, 60s and fabulous. The location is a convenient inbetween stop if you're visiting the Malahat Skywalk and Hatley Castle. $13CAD/$10USD Smoked Meat Sandwich. If you've never had Canadian Smoked Meat, its "sort of" like pastrami but equally delicious. It was simple sandwich but generously loaded with tasty smoked meat(6-7oz)! It wasn't the same level as Phil's in Quebec City or Schwart's in Montreal, but still good at a great price. The complimentary fresh side of slaw paired nicely. I'm not saying this is the greatest lunch ever, but for only $10 USD this is fantastic value and lunch, especially compared to Seattle/America! I am bit shocked by some of the 1 Star Reviews regarding the owner/operator, because during our visit she was sweet, funny, friendly, and so personable. read more

I don't normally post negative reviews but this experience was exceptional. My wife and I tried to buy a drink. When she asked a clarifying question for a menu item the barista became irrationally irate. We tried the cafe because it was recommended but will not return. The space was small and cramped. I wasn't looking toward to sitting there anyways. read more

We're so glad to have found Dagwoods! A small gem with fantastic food. A little patience with this amazing one-woman operation is rewarded with great food, an infectious laugh, and on-pitch singing to the radio in a breakfast serenade. I accidentally dropped half my breakfast sandwich on the floor and as soon as the owner/cashier/barista/chef/entertainer found out, she insisted on making me another. Get there! read more

Our group of four had a terrible experience here today, we were shouted at by the owner for trying to open an umbrella and then it got worse. When we dared to ask questions about the menu we were met with an angry and condescending tone. Although some of us enjoyed a corned beef sandwich I ordered the daily veggie soup which had hardly any vegetables and was as tasteless as it could possibly be. Will not return. read more

July 28-1045am - Talked about the rudest server I've ever came across. 4 of us-bicyclers. Would of spend between $40-50 combined. Assumed she was the owner. It irks me that so many people often remember to leave bad reviews, but not always when they experience friendly service, good food, and a pleasant environment. This little cafe is owned and run by one individual who normally works 7 days a week. I am overwhelmed by the amazing food (have taken home the fabulous meat pies, and breakfast sandwiches are always fresh and yummy!). My experience with the service has been top-notch--the owner has a contagious laugh that starts my day off on the right foot! She goes above and beyond to provide a satisfied customer experience, and is very caring. I'm quite certain that everyone has a bad day occasionally, including me! You'd be remiss not to try this little establishment a second time, if nothing else, at least for the good food!! read more

The worst service I've ever had in my life. I just picked up some garbage outside her shop, saw masks were required, so I went to grab my mask and come back to get coffee and the garbage. She not only started immediately yelling at me for putting the garbage down for a second so I could go get my mask, but refused to let us use her garbage. She literally was so horrible that my mom left shaking and upset. What a horrible horrible person. I don't care what's going on in her life, that is not how you treat kind customers. This woman has anger issues, respect issues and clearly is the worst customer service person I've ever met in my life. She should be ashamed of herself. read more

We found this place on the map while passing through and stopped in for breakfast with our 2 boys and dog. Its a lovely patio space with plenty of shade. I was moved to leave a review because I ordered an egg sandwich for my 6 year old and forgot to order without mayo as he's not a big fan. Lol The owner offered to make another but we were happy to work with it. Before we left she brought both boys cookies on the house and also brought treats for our pup! Another local gem in Langford! It's easy to pass by Dagwoods Cafe countless times at the corner of Goldstream and Veterans. But it's a great place to stop for a sandwich and cuppa. There's parking out front for bikes with locks courtesy of neighbouring Goldstream Bicycles and easy vehicle parking around the back. It's a tiny space and a one-woman show. Got chatting to the owner, Elizabeth, and she's been running Dagwoods for 3 years now. There was a line up of people getting their morning java and fresh breakie sandwiches when we stopped in. There are only about 4 tables inside and they were all full (there's a patio out front). She managed to serve up all orders while smiling and chatting with the locals. She serves Stick in the Mud small batch coffee from Sooke (excellent choice), and all her sandwiches are made fresh to order. The Clubhouse was homestyle delicious made with local ingredients served with a side of good coleslaw. She has a daily soup as well. The space is very small but cozy. Love the tie wire art display made by a local artist. I'm glad we stopped in to Dagwoods to check it out. We will be back. Another great local spot to visit when in Langford! read more
