If you've never tried Korean BBQ before, I found a really fun place to start right here in Brick. Dae Gee is bringing Korean BBQ to the area, which is must needed in my opinion, and we went for their all you can eat experience, which is $38 per person. We started with their fried chicken wings, zucchini pancake, and my personal favorite -- the corn cheese. Omggg. I could've devoured the entire dish myself. It was a bit like street corn just cheesier! Then came the Korean BBQ, where you cook your meat right at the table. The AYCE includes six different kinds of meat, plus chicken dumplings and unlimited Korean sides like kimchi and fish cakes. It's interactive, it's a lot of food, and such a fun dinner experience. Plus the staff is super friendly and informative and makes amazing recommendations. So if you're in Brick and looking to try something different, put Dae Gee on your list! read more

We saw that a new kbbq spot opened up in Brick and decided to make the drive down. We dined on a Friday between 12:30-1:30. During our whole dining experience there was not one other group that came in which was very odd. We opted for the AYCE option. We ordered the beef brisket, galbi (short rib) and pork belly. The waitress also said they had hot or iced green tea. Given the establishment I assumed it would have been freshly brewed. However, they gave us pure leaf iced tea and charged us $7 per bottle. I'm sorry but that is robbery There are plenty of sides that come with the meal. We loved the cucumber salad and garlic broccoli. They were both seasoned well. However, we were not a fan of the kimchi pancakes and edamame. The kimchi pancake was doughy almost like a dollar pancake with barely any hint of kimchi. The edamame had a sweet sauce or syrup on it that we were not familiar with. Now the cuts of meat. I think the waitress misheard us because she brought out ribeye instead of short rib. Both my husband and I enjoy steak so we didn't correct her and made the best of it. This ribeye had so many tendons in it or it was cut with the grain because it was very tough and chewy. The brisket wasn't the thinly sliced brisket I'm used to at other places. The only saving grace was the pork belly. It was thin and crisped up nicely on the grill. We also found it strange that they only gave us one dish of sauce to share where at other places each person gets their own. At this point we were full and asked for the check. The waitress was very concerned as she wanted us to get through the whole menu and thought we didn't like the food but we reassured her we got out full. I come to kbbq to choose the cuts of meat I want, not to eat the whole menu. This place has potential to be better. I just frequent KPOT, Butcher 360, and Cast Iron so I'm used to that quality. read more

I went with my friend and her adult son this past weekend (July 3). I was so looking forward to authentic Korean food since I haven't found a spot that could match what I ate almost daily back in the late 80's when stationed in A Jung Ri South Korea. You'll have to take it from me when I say they 100% got it right. Every side item they brought to our table (banchan) felt and tasted as authentic as it comes. The only dish I do not recall having in Korea was the "potato salad" and it was DELICIOUS! Maybe it's a modern twist or maybe it's just something I never came across there but it was one of my favorite dishes and I could eat a giant bowl on its own. The meats were all amazingly seasoned. That's what Korean bbq is about. The seasoning and care taken when making it. If you're expecting a giant plate of bbq ribs smothered in sweet ketchup based bbq sauce ...well, stay home. That's not what you're going to get here and I would be disappointed if I did. What we got instead was carefully executed authentic Korean bbq. Everything that was cited as spicy...was spicy. Anything that was cited as sweet, was sweet. I see some people complaining about the up charge for more short rib. Those people have obviously never owned or worked in a restaurant. These days some restaurants charge you $2.00 extra for a tomato on your burger. It's just the nature of the economy these days. Expect up charges or stay home. You can feed four people hamburger helper at home for under $12 but it's not going to be near as tasty as this delicious food is. It takes labor dollars to make the food you're eating and you can't expect premium meats to be given away endlessly without an up charge. One thing I found exceptionally awesome was the fact that our server changed the grill plate quickly, and often without us having to ask. I've found in other KB restaurants they wait for you to ask or they don't change them at all. Sure you have to wait a few minutes for the plate to heat up again but so what? What's your hurry? Enjoy the company you're dining with and it'll be hot in a few minutes. I notice some people complained about ventilation. That problem has obviously been fixed. I am a lung cancer survivor with one lung at 80% and the other at less than 20% and I didn't have any issues with smoke. There was none except for directly over the grill when you're cooking and that seemed to dissipate as it was forming. Our server was great. Yes she was young and probably relatively new to the serving field...but she was super hospitable...came to the table constantly checking on us...and I would give her five stars for her efforts. I'm a decent tipper when service is on point and she earned the 25% for sure. I know a lot of people reviewing restaurants and on social media complain about tipping culture but this is America. We tip here. Get on board or stay home. No one should have to run around bringing you dish after dish and three hundred different requests for napkins and more food and not get rewarded for it. Work a shift or two at a busy restaurant and then tell me how you feel about tipping. Anyway...the food was great. It's a cool spot from top to bottom and the service was on point. I'm not saying everyone's experience should completely mimic mine but I believe a few people could be a little more honest and a little more self aware. Saying the prices should be cheaper because you're cooking the food yourself is the same as saying a Mercedes should be the same price as a Kia because they're both made of metal. Sometimes customers have unrealistic expectations (like getting endless short ribs for no additional charge or for a server to take responsibility for pricing when they don't set the prices) and that's unfair to use as a negative when reviewing a very young restaurant. Even the fanciest of places have some growing pains in the beginning. If you haven't been to this place ...get there. If you have and your experience wasn't what you expected...especially if you came right after they opened...try it again. I believe the kinks some of you were referring to have been worked out and I also believe Im going to be spending a lot of money at this place lol. All in I give them 5 stars for my experience. Thank you for bringing some authenticity to Brick. Those of us who know...really appreciate it. Also...make sure you update your online presence to reflect you are a BYOB. Had I known that beforehand I would have definitely made a stop at Canals for wine read more

After finding out that there's a Korean restaurant that opened in Brick, I really wanted to give this place a try. There aren't any Korean restaurants in the Monmouth and Ocean County area, so I was happy when I found out that there's one that opened. We were immediately seated after arriving. The restaurant is pretty big, but there are a few walls that separate some of the tables from each other, so the size of the place feels deceptively smaller. Each table has a circular grill in the middle for the barbecue and they also seat up to 4 people too. The walls are light beige with the bottom half being made of black wainscoting. Framed pictures of Korean food and locations adorn the leftmost wall, while a long mural depicting the restaurant's name and some Korean words covers the other wall. We ordered the following: Jun, which is a pancake and comes with a choice of kimchi, zucchini or seafood for an extra $4. We chose zucchini. We felt that the frying of the pancake was uneven in that half of the order was brown while the other half wasn't. Hubs likes it crispy, so he ended up taking the leftovers home to crisp it up. Even though the half looked burnt, it wasn't crispy at all. Hangul, which is toasted corn and cheese with Korean seasonings. The corn came with a side of chips. This was ok. Daughter liked this and thought it was cheesy. Soon dooboo cheegae, which is tofu stew. You can get a choice of beef or pork for an extra $6 or seafood for an extra $7. We didn't order any of the protein because we liked it light. However, we asked for the order to be medium and it came out mild. This was ok but we were disappointed that we didn't get the spice level we wanted. Bee Beem Shop Dak Bulgogi, which was pork in a hot stone rice pot. We were excited when we heard that bibimbap came in a hot stone bowl because it meant that it would form a layer of crispy rice. However, the stone bowl wasn't hot enough so we didn't get any crunchy rice. We had a lot of high hopes for this entree and got disappointed. Flies were flying around our food. We felt that our entrees were a step below what we usually experience at a Korean restaurant. We're big Korean food fans and were slightly disappointed with this place. Our server left in the middle of our dinner and never came back, so another server waited on us the rest of the time. My guess is she went home. We still have high hopes for this place. There's still room for improvement and this area could use a go-to for Korean food. This place is located in a strip mall and there's plenty of parking. The entrance is very confusing. The restaurant is right next to Supercuts but under the Supercuts sign. They should move the names of the businesses because the restaurant looked closed. Glad we got to try this place! read more

Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 1/5 Food: 3/5 We went to this place veryyyyy hungry, and while at it, it should make your appetite good for anythiiiiing set on the table. When we came in, the serve was amazing, she was very friendly and interacted with us right away. The problem isn't the service, its the food and the place. The place, first of all, having been to alot of korean bbq places, should have had vents. People are complaining how much they smelt of bbq after being here and that is very bothersome; but most of all-- its the smoke going into my eyes while we try to cook and grill. I feel bad making this review but I literally had tears coming out of my eyes, fighting for my life to cook the food while the smoke keeps coming into my direction, the vents are supposed to help with that and make this super enjoyable for customers.. but instead of enjoying, it got bothersome and unenjoyable. Second, since there are no vents, the door had to be kept open.... And that means flies, flies everywhere, on our food, the grill, the walls, name it!!! Then comes the food, its alright, steamed egg is so bland, no flavors for the meat, they're not premium but I guess its edible, I would have scored higher if it was just so dang easy to cook but I literally just gave up cooking with how uncomfortable I was getting. After the meal, our heart broke for the owners knowing they try their best but the place is set up for failure as it lacked the necessity of vents and good Korean food We had to go straight home after instead of finishing our plans because we literally were stinking of korean bbq smell.... + the bad experience, we just wanted to be comfortable and shower.. But so many many needs for improvement if they want their place to last. Thank you. read more

Absolutely delicious. At 65 years old this was the absolute best kimchee I have ever tasted. The atmosphere is fun and light. EVERYTHING i tasted was incredible read more

Good favors. Cool concept. They bring out your sides to get you full before the meats. We tried the unlimited bbq. The lunch is 30.00, dinner is 38.00. They bring out all of the items in the unlimited bbq where you cook your own food, you have an option to let the kitchen cook it for you too. They have 3 sauces, regular, mild, and spicy. I'm not a fan of the sauce flavors they need a teriyaki bbq. The regular tastes like the tart kimchi. Meats come in a small coaster size bowl, same as the sides. Pork, chicken and beef. The spicy options were not my favorite. Not because of spice because of the taste. You get rice and chicken dumplings too as a side and they give you an onion slice and pineapple to start your grill experience. I didn't realize shrimp was part of the other menu cause the server took the menu away as soon as you decide which section of the menu you want. They were $10.00 more for six, large shrimp. They came with garlic and a flavored brown sauce sauce. It didn't flavor the shrimp much. You can get either, A la carte entre section, hot pot or bbq. There are also additional appetizers you can get separate from the all you can eat, at an additional cost. The vents in the grill help eliminate smoke which was great, but you still get a Smoky atmosphere and smell. It's a good experience. Meats have a good flavor overall. My favorite sides were the picked radish and potato salad, odd sides but it's all about the experience. They don't serve alcohol. You have to try. It's a stay at your seat, no sauce making on your own if you compare to others, don't. It's great to try. read more

Food was delicious. They bring out everything at once so if you don't like something tell them so it doesn't go to waste. Vast amount of side dishes that you honestly each alone. The waitress was great and very attentive changing out the grills. We brought our 3 month old and didn't have a problem with the smoke since their grills had great air flow. Excited to go back when we can. read more

Dae Gee - Side dishes and meats. - Pan Asian Near Me - Brick Township, New Jersey

Dae Gee Korean BBQ in Brick was absolutely outstanding! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. Our server, Valerie F., was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. She checked on us regularly, answered our questions, and provided excellent service without ever being intrusive. The restaurant was spotless, modern, and had a warm, inviting atmosphere that made for a great dining experience. The food was incredible. The portions were generous, and every bite was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I ordered the pork dinner "extra, extra, extra spicy," and they absolutely delivered with amazing flavor and just the right amount of heat. The Kimchee Cheegae was also delicious and packed with authentic flavor. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and outstanding quality of the food. This is easily one of the best Korean restaurants in the area, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend Dae Gee Korean BBQ to anyone looking for authentic Korean food, excellent service, and great value! read more
