I decided to give burn a second chance, considering my gym is still closed due to covid…read more In December 2020 a friend reached out to me stating they had a promo 'bring a friend for free'. So i tried it & decided to give it another shot. My experience was the same as 2018, and i was happy to see that there were very few people in classes (usually less than 7). The trainers are all different, not the same quality as before, still just rush thru the WODs. The gym advertised 1 month for $69, so in January i signed up for it. The gym heavily advertises to sign up for focus meetings, which is fitness assessment. I signed up for it, and received a confirmation email, upon arrival first i was told i was not in the system, later i was told they had double booked, and long story short i was not able to do it. My schedule is tight due to work, it was really tough to be there on time, and the fact that my appointment was not respected was unfortunate. The staff doesn't seem organized, or customer serviced focused. I complained on site, all i got was attitude and 'sas', despite the fact it was their bad.. anyway.. Upon arrival, you check in via iPad, my first two weeks of January, were fine (January I paid for the $69 special). Suddenly, upon checking in, the screen started saying 'unpaid see front desk', along those lines. I did and I requested that to be corrected, as I did pay.. and once again, attitude, sas and rudeness stating 'i had done two trials, i was not supposed to, but whatever, they would still allow me to attend'. I was invited in December by a friend, and I did pay the full month on January. I didn't really get any fine print with details.. so my last two weeks were annoying & uncomfortable as every time i checked in i had to basically show my payment receipt to the front desk (unnecessary), as they never corrected the check in process... considering my gym (TruFusion) is still closed, I would have signed up for a few months at burn paying regular price, i had those intentions... i was surprised at how the customer service dropped.. when the gym was managed by Jennifer the staff was always very nice and welcoming.. and the trainers, (with the exception of Ben, and patrick) don't seem that focused on helping or correcting posture.. i wonder why one of the girls teaches & walks around barefoot? Kinda gross. Tip: do not wear light colored pants, if you do floor work, your pants will get very dirty. I wore some peach colored pants and were very dirty afterwards..

That flexible schedule was important here, because I personally would not have been able to motivate myself to get there in the morning, just way too many burpees for me to start the day! While bootcamps aren't my favorite style workout I did appreciate that the classes were always different and there were some really fun exercises on occasion - my favorite being the pull ups we did with elastic bands. I like that they are trying to foster a sense of community with evening activities for their members and different theme days at the gym and Mark definitely grew on me. At the end of the day though I decided not to sign up after the trial, my main reason being their lowest commitment was for 6 months and it was for a steep price tag compared to other gyms in the area. They offer 'free' childcare so I imagine if you are able to take advantage of that then it is a great deal. I went to the gym here 2-4 times a week during my month trial as well as supplementing with other types of workout. I don't think I noticed any huge difference from coming here. (I normally work out that much a month, just not as part of a 'bootcamp'). Another thing that bothered me a bit is I felt like a lot of times each station of exercises was a bit too long, so that you were bound to give up and take a break before the round ended. I would have preferred to know how many reps I need to do or see a clock countdown. Otherwise 2 minutes of plank jumps can feel like an hour.

Disclaimer: I didn't even get to go because my appointment was cancelled without my consent…read more I'm going to post the pictures of my conversation via text. I saw an ad (see picture) talking about a free 6 week chsllenge and decided I could do a free 6 week challenge. By now I've lost 30 pounds and wanted to get back into a box. I am on Reddit and asked about anyone that had done one and received a barrage of responses that it wasn't actually free. So I text the person that text me about the appointment, introducing himself as Sergio, and asked him about the challenge being free. He ended up cancelling my appointment without asking if that's what I wanted. Had I been given a straight answer about something I felt *uncomfortable* with, I probably would have gone to see what was being offered.

I actually enjoy it and I have also seen results. I like that you can get in and out in an hour and experience the most complete workout you can imagine. The workouts are always different so I do not get bored and they have lots of equipment you can use post workout to cool down or even continue pushing through. I have been with Aim Higher for almost a year and I absolutely love coming here to workout. Not only are the coaches attentive, funny and knowledgeable, but I have also made lots of friends. I appreciate that it feels like a family and no one ever makes you feel bad about your progress or lack thereof. There are no mean spirited individuals and everyone is very motivational. They are located in a great location right off of Bird Rd (sw 40th street) and 38th avenue in one of the rental communities near Merrick Park. There is a garage connected to the building so lack of parking is never a problem, which seems to be an ongoing dilemma in the Gables area (and with other cross fits in the area too). Come by and check them out!
