Food Allergies Welcomed! We are a family with food allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame and shellfish. This place and their staff were excellent, they worked with the chef to ensure our food was safe. They could accommodate several items on the menu which were all very good. The best items were the chicken sandwich, the pasta short rib, French onion gnocchi, the chopped salad with either salmon or steak tips. At one point, the waited was not sure if a meal was prepared properly, so he had it sent back and replaced. We stayed here midweek for a one night getaway and some sun and sand before our baby boy arrived. I had made reservations about a month in advance, and was pleased to see the cancellation window was very generous. I read from their website that the hotel can provide beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach passes for hotel guests. We arrived bright and early, and though check-in wasn't until 4pm, reception happily provided us an umbrella and beach passes for the two days we were on the beach. The hotel is clean, welcoming, and low-key stylish. There are a few issues with the room itself, truthfully. It was very small. The bathroom had a lot of space, in comparison to the room. We had overnight bags, and felt like we had to stack them in the corner - I couldn't imagine having a large suitcase in the standard room. The room advertised a queen size bed, but it definitely wasn't a queen- a full or double at best. In reality, nobody wants to be inside when you're at the beach, so we barely noticed- but it's noteworthy. We had drinks / mocktails at the hotel bar, and they were delicious! You can't beat the location - it's one block from the beach, (bonus at 9 month pregnant, who doesn't want bathrooms that accessible!?) In all honestly, we would probably stay here again, but spring for a bigger room. read more

Great for happy hour! We went once last year while visiting LBI and enjoyed it. Went back this year for a quick drink before dinner. Ended up staying for a while because there was live music on Thursday. Great happy hour drink prices and food specials! We only had fried pickles because we already had dinner plans. But we had other items last year and everything was good. Everyone around us was happy with their food, from sushi to regular entrees. AWESOME service from Alexa or Alesia ( cant remember name) bartender on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 it was pouring rain and we had a long and stressful day including finding a place open. The only reason this place has any stars is the upstairs bar and service. If you're going there then it's a 4 star review if you're not eating. The bartenders are great. However we had the worst dining experience in the restaurant. The food is a 1 star at best. Our server was very nice so it's not about the service, we understand there's challenges and staff shortages in the country and have a ton of patience. I ordered a seafood salad and the iceberg lettuce basically came over a cup of water in the bowl. I guess they didn't drain the lettuce before serving it. Their was such little flavor that I ordered 3 sides of ranch to try to eat it but it didn't help. My husbands cheesesteak was mediocre. The pepper appetizer was decent. My Dauter ordered the filet steak special and I ordered the scallops the steak was good but when I got the bill I did not expect the $64 price tag the rest of the meal was a solid 4 stars but I have to take away the half for the steak. [3.25 Stars] Fortunate to be on LBI in late-April, after indoor dining returned, yet before the island became mobbed, Daddy O was chosen for a Saturday night dinner. The restaurant, understood to be under the same management umbrella as nearby Tuckers Tavern, occupies an entire square block. On this site are both a multi-room restaurant and a seasonal motel. From the onset, Daddy O was comfortable, warm and inviting. We experienced several servers and staff, including Matt (named on our receipt), and each was approachable, sharp, professional and attentive. Our group of four diners began with light appetizers; tuna tacos and lobster bisque. The tacos went over well, while the bisque-- flavorful and with some lobster meat-- would have benefitted by more lobster and sherry. It was "good" while the rest of the meal set a much higher standard. The entrees were each a homerun; Flounder Picatta, Gulf Shrimp Scampi and Seafood Cobb Salads. Each was generous in quantity, fresh and nicely presented. Ms. G and I both had the Seafood Cobb Salads. They included 8 perfectly cooked 16-20 count shrimp, a scoop of picked crabmeat, deviled egg, halved ripe grape tomatoes, cucumber, avocado and an interesting light bleu cheese vinaigrette over baby greens. Was rainy and dreary outside but inside this place was happening! Service was on point and very accommodating. Started with the cheese curds and French onion gnocchi. Both are highly recommended. Staying on LBI for the week, I took the family out for dinner yesterday. Unfortunately with the rain, their rooftop deck was closed. We made our reservation on OpenTable and were greeted and seated immediately after entering the restaurant. Anyone familiar with LBI history may remember this place as formerly being Wilma's. They seemed to renovate this nicely with an upscale aura. There's a private lot across the street for parking. I would have to classify this restaurant as pretentious. You would think it would be fine dining, but after looking at the menu, they just seem to have a limited supply of overpriced food with little or no culinary imagination. I would be surprised if they have an accredited chef on staff. We started with a bottle of Malbec ($50-- which would retail at $12) and some appetizers. Breaded Wisconsin Cheese Curds for around $12 and deliver about 6 slivers of cheese and some fried breading on the side. Tasty, but greasy. We also ordered the Old Bay chips which were served in a funnel cone with aioli sauce on the side. Not too bad except my son's Lobster Roll ($28) also came with the same chips on the side. And speaking of the Lobster Roll, for the price, you would think it would have more lobster than mayo and be served on a roll slightly bigger than you'd get from a Bar Harbour food truck. Our party included 2 vegetarians as well-- my wife and daughter-in-law. Not too much on the menu for them. Fortunately we asked Caroline, our waitress and a very good one as well, who mentioned they have a separate menu. Good thing we asked. My wife ordered the Veggie Oichiette while I ordered the Crab Oichiette. If you look at the photo's taken, it would be hard to distinguish which was which. If you look very carefully, you could distinguish 1-2 small white lumps of crabmeat probably weighing no more than 5 grams total. The major difference though was the price---- Veggie for $18 and Crab for $28. A major disappointment. I would have been better off with the Veggie. While the people there are friendly and the facility is nicely decorated and kept, they need to improve the cuisine and value of the portions. Their special was a bone-in pork chop for $44. Again, seriously?!! Maybe a bone-in ribeye, but pork chop? This restaurant is trying to set new standards, but I hope they make some changes before they realize the same fate as Wilma's. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place, but first, lets start with the positives; - Friendly staff greeted us quickly and sat us for our reservation - Nice vibe in this place - we ate inside, had a nice upscale NYC restaurant feel to it - Took our order fast, brought out food quickly - Most of the food was amazing with great presentation - Super friendly waitress, even recommended us an ice cream parlor nearby that my family loved The negatives; - Asked if we wanted bread (to me this is a no brainer, just bring it out, some might say maybe nobody wants bread, eh, I say just bring it out) - Standard shrimp cocktail, scallop ceviche was to die for, wingless wings were really bad. (I was expecting more with the wingless chicken, like some soft succulent chicken meat that was taken off the bone, but instead, they brought out what looked like the left over parts of fried chicken that you find at the bottom of the KFC box. It ruined that part of the dinner for me. - Waitress was on it, but a little too much. I feel like she was taking stuff off our table a little too fast. Started feeling rushed. - Entrees were good. Scallops with risotto blew my mind, gf's flounder was OK, my son's salmon dish was great Final Thought; This place is really good. They just need to train their waitstaff to slow it down a little bit, and they need to take that chicken dish off of the menu. The prices are not cheap but we knew that coming in. I say, if you are in the area, stop in and you will probably enjoy yourself and have a great meal, but don't go out of your way for it. My boyfriend and I came to LBI in 2018 for the first time for a friend's wedding and someone had recommended Daddy O to us. The first time we came it was incredible. This weekend we came back just for a vacation and HAD to come back. Their lobster bisque is possibly the best I've ever had. It's rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned. My boyfriend got their ramen, which he critiques pretty intensely and he was blown away with their flamin' hot ramen bowl (he opted to not get the Cheetos which is what makes it spicy). It always impresses us when a restaurant excels in something they don't particularly specialize in. We both got the filet mignon for an entree and it was so good I couldn't even take a photo. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the arugula and seasoned frites were a perfect compliment to the meal. Desert was light, delicious, and perfectly satisfying. Our waitress McKayla suggested it and we were NOT disappointed! The overall service at Daddy O is also exactly what you would expect from a restaurant like this. They're friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We will definitely come back the next time we're on the island! read more

My husband and I were able to sneak away for a quick dinner without our kids. Once we drove to our beach house I saw this restaurant and knew I wanted to try it. We didn't have a reservation, but was able to go right up and get seated. It was a little windy and our menu flew over the roof. Our server said not to worry about it and it happens all the time. We just ordered a few appetizers. The calamari was really good and so was the sushi. My husband had a drink which he said was strong and tasty. We literally felt like we just got done ordering and our food was already coming out. They were on the ball. Once we were done with our food we couldn't help, but order their creme burlee. What is a date night without a dessert and two spoons? We will be coming back next time we are in town...maybe even bring out kids. read more

The waitress we had was very kind and nice as well as helpful. The menu had so many good options and was very helpful when it came to allergies. I purchased the bowl of mussels and don't get me wrong, they were very good however the white wine sauce had a lot of wine it. I had the salmon as an entrée and it was very good. My family and I came here for dinner last night before I headed back home. It was my parents' anniversary and we were looking for something a little more upscale and less like a typical LBI restaurant for dinner. Daddy O seemed to fit so we decided to make a reservation. Walking in, the place looked great - a mixture of light and dark tones, with reds, bamboo, and light foliage throughout made for a relaxing yet finished aesthetic. The menus were affixed to wooden panels which made them both look upscale and sturdy. They definitely paid attention to the details - even the silverware had good weight to it. I was pleasantly surprised to see a sushi menu, but quickly skimming it I saw most of the rolls were tempura (hmmm). Even with that slight qualm, I decided to order the Bay Ave roll, which was a basic shrimp tempura roll. It was underwhelming - not a lot of shrimp, not a lot of rice, and poorly rolled - kind of expected but still a little disappointing. My dad had the black fig and goat cheese flatbread - I had a bite of that and from what I had it was good. For my main I had the white shrimp scampi which was served over pasta. This was slightly better - the scampi sauce married well with the pasta and it contained a bunch of other goodies like peas and large slices of garlic. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp however - they were large and plentiful but I've had better quality. Our server was very friendly, and the manager (I think) even came over and engaged in some light conversation with us. It pains me to give this place just three stars, because I really appreciate the fact that they are a unique spot on the island. However, their food isn't has good as I hoped. With that being said, I would definitely come back here to explore their rooftop lounge and have a drink. read more

This is easily the best restaurant on the island. I have been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Depending on your mood, weather & time of day there's 3 different bars to pick from. Rooftop bar: opens at 4pm, has food menu including sushi! Best bar tenders - Kat & Tucker. I recommend rooftop for best service and best drinks. Not to mention an awesome view! Garden / back yard bar: absolutely beautiful atmosphere for day or night. Great food menu! I recommend a refreshing salad or the shrimp cocktail! Yum! Not the best bartenders ... get a glass of wine . Inside bar/ restaurant: high end relaxing beach atmosphere. They really went above and beyond for the island. First and foremost, this place always has amazing food. On our most recent trip, we had two unfortunate instances in 1 night that we felt were handled unprofessionally. We called to make a reservation for 8 (4 adults, 4 kids). They assured us that wasn't necessary. When we got there, the hostess seemed genuinely annoyed at the sight of our kids (who I must say, were well behaved). The strollers seemed to upset her... which is why I tried explaining on the phone we should be seated somewhere to accommodate us appropriately and to be out of the way of the servers and other guests. We also ordered from the specials, which came back sold out -- nothing major. We understand these hiccups occur. The worst part was that at the end of our meal, after asking for our check, the waitress told us that a third party had paid for our meal. We were shocked, delighted, and looked around to "pay it forward" to another table assuming this was a random act of kindness. After five minutes, the manager came over to tell us that this in fact was a mistake, and that our bill was on the way. Of course we had no problem for paying for our meal, I just would have assumed the delivery of that message would be accompanied with more than a "sorry about that." From an owner's perspective, this was extremely unprofessional and killed the entire vibe of our otherwise wonderful dinner. read more

Daddy Oh Noooo!! Let me start with a positive. .. the server was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately they advertise having a wide variety of craft beers on their menu. Well they didn't lie, they had options on menu but not in stock. We took three tries before getting an IPA that was available. I am a burger connoisseur and this was the worst showing yet! There is only one burger on the menu so I expected it to be amazing - not even close. They tried to be fancy, but ended up with an overpriced burger half the size of the bun with too much garnish. Silver lining is that the fries were yummy :o) Our tab was 45$ for two beers and one burger (we split one) and then an additional 35$ for the beer and pizza we had up the street at Buckalew's (it was is delic! ). There are many options on LBI but I would take a pass on this one and try Tuckers, Black Whale, or fav go to of Buckalew's. read more

Food was OK. Not bad but not great. Service was terrible. Took forever to see our waitress when we first sat down and then it got worse from there. Rarely came to check on us between courses. She would go to one table at a time and then back to the bar or kitchen without looking at anyone else. Not a great multitasking server. I tried multiple times to get her attention and she never saw me. It's fine if the food comes out slowly but at least check in and see if we need more drinks. We would have ordered at least 1-2 more rounds and it would have made the restaurant more money and helped make it more tolerable while waiting. Second time there and not impressed.
