Fried shrimp
Krist D.

Go here for the Chilean sea bass and $9 high noons if you are in the area. The fresh baked rolls were delicious and hot out of the oven. If you like a noisy bustling bar scene this the the place! It was very loud and very busy. Several birthdays were being celebrated and the Yankees game was on in the background. There was music which was difficult to hear until several surrounding parties departed. Our waitress took forever to come to our table and our water glasses were often left empty. Our calamari came out without marinara and by the time we got the sauce 30 min later the food was cold so we couldn't eat it. The fried shrimp were good and the calamari was cooked perfectly just wish we had the marinara to start with and we probably didn't need both fried appetizers. The garden side salad was typical with two cherry tomatoes and two cucumbers and good with ranch dressing. I had the lobster, scallops and shrimp in vodka sauce over linguini and my hub had the chillian sea bass. Mine was too heavy and we switched halfway through. His fish and light and flakey and I liked it. Overall a decent meal but for the prices there are better options that I prefer. I suppose if you are staying in the hotel or walking distance to the area it might be worth a trip back.

Sandy toes and good cocktails

Have stayed here before and love the outdoor pool and sand bar area. Listened to Live music and it gave us beach access. Lbi distillery cocktails that are really great, a new local distillery to check out opening in March 2024

Tiny piece of Key lime pie -- not even as long as a very small desert fork and 2" wide for $10 ?!?!

The sea bass portion was minuscule -- more like 2 fish sticks at just over 3.5" long and less than ¾" thick. While it tasted fine it was definitely NOT worth $42. The key lime pie was also tiny -- not even as long as a very small desert fork and about 2" wide or so. It was absolutely NOT worth the exorbitant price of $10 that they charged for it. We have visited the Engleside quite often over the many years we have been coming to LBI and this is honestly the first time we have felt totally and completely disappointed and quite honestly taken advantage of by price gouging. We won't return and that makes us sad as they used to be one of our go to and most enjoyed restaurants.

We love the Engelside for their sushi bar. Great spot with amazing service. Ray and John are the best!

Excellent food, from sushi, seafood to a superb prime rib. Specials are always great, and the wine list is very reasonable.

I love my Salad. Every thing was amazing. I've been coming back year after year for 25 years just to have that salad.

This place is classy and casual at the same time. The food and atmosphere are fantastic and truly the only thing that might overshadow the great food and atmosphere is the AMAZING FRIENDLY STAFF... they are the best !! From Rachel at the front desk to Jill, Colton and Ryan at the bar you just can't ask for better service or nicer genuine people. We have been coming back to this hotel for years now and continue to love everything about it. Whether you are there for drinks, dinner or a hotel stay you will see the manage John, making his rounds to make sure you are happy. Very impressive. It is service like this that keeps us coming back year after year. It is truly our happy place at the Jersey Shore .We checked out yesterday and are already anxious for our next visit.

The last time I came here, I was a kid and the place was an Irish pub called Wida's. Daddy O might be the best meal on LBI. We enjoyed Spanish octopus, an Asian fusion salad, and a special of lobster tail stuffed with lump crab meat (wow). The solid menu is well complimented by an extensive drink list including house cocktails, wine (truly a global wine list, so refreshing for an LBI restaurant), and beer. Service is elevated for South Jersey. Not the briskest pace, but everyone is very warm and welcoming. Overall this place is sneakily good and delivers. I'd much prefer this to some of the other restaurants on the island, many of which are overpriced and mediocre.

The food comes out relatively quick, you get bread & butter and family style salad to eat while you wait. I do love their effort to include vegan entrees, and this is hard to come by! I always get the vegan Pat's pasta with beyond sausage - broccoli, sun dried tomatoes, garlic and oil, you really can't go wrong. It's always very good and they give you a good portion. My only "gripe" is that it's pricey. BUT you are in a pricey area! So that is kind of to be expected. Overall I'd say beach house is a solid option amongst many in the southern end of the island.

The food is just okay, nothing to rave about. The calamari special app with kung pao sauce was our favorite. It tasted fresh and the sauce was delicious. The tuna special bites were also good. Our entrees were underwhelming. The swordfish special was overcooked and the side of rice had no flavor. The shrimp pasta was ok- the shrimp was good, buttery wine sauce was also good but the broccoli was mush and tasted like it was frozen. For the prices we expected more elevated meals, especially compared to other restaurants in the area. Everything was just ok, not what we expected from a seafood restaurant on the island. Our server was nice and checked on us an appropriate amount of times. The ambiance was also nice with the patio table and nice sunset behind us. We may give it another try for brunch but probably not worth visiting again for dinner.

Two kids chicken fingers and two adults meals came to $115. That said, the food is tasty. John's blushing shrimp and the mahi over street corn were both very good. Mussels were good too but when we ordered bread for dipping, it was a $3 hamburger roll. Clam strips were standard. Atmosphere is just ok as the place sits right on the boulevard. The loud music over the speakers didn't help either. But, the property/dining areas are very well maintained and relatively nice for a casual fish market. If money isn't a concern and you plan to eat it on your own deck, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I'd go somewhere where customers are appreciated.

The food was good but our bill came out to almost $20 more than it should have with no explanation as to why. We sat outside at a picnic table (self seating) and ordered takeout. I am assuming the extra cost was a service charge but that seems incredibly steep for takeout. Overall we liked the food but for over $100 for two pastas and a slice of pie I would much rather prefer dining somewhere with table service. This is especially true due to the fact that there was no service charge or additional fees advertised anywhere that we could find.

There was one guy playing guitar music, not too loud, which made the atmosphere cozy. They have a great cocktail list if you want to try something new. The wedge salad was large and had a twist- it had a different type of dressing, crispy onion on top, and traditional blue cheese crumbles. The cheese steak comes with thick-cut fries, and the crab cake main had coleslaw on the side, which was crisp and served with a light dressing. Looking forward to dining again soon.

We weren't 100% sold because of some of the reviews, but still gave it a shot. We made a 6pm reservation online and were able to park in the lot adjacent to the restaurant. We were seated immediately and the hostess gave us a table by the front window. Nice, out of the way, allowed us to chat and people watch. We were initially shocked at how empty the place was for a 6pm reservation, but by the time we were done the place was packed. Out waitress came over and took our drink order (she never introduced herself, which always kind of annoys me). I ordered the Barrel -aged Manhattan (it came on the rocks though I ordered it up) and Wifey ordered The Maverick - gin, Aperol, lemon, Ginger, mint. For starters we had the Steamers special - in a white wine garlic butter sauce with grilled or charred shallots and Chargrilled oysters with spinach, panko, cheddar, and hot sauce. For our entrees Wifey had the NY strip with seasoned potatoes and I had the Crab cakes. Steak was excellent...the crab cakes were small for the price, but full of meat. Delicious Cole slaw. Appetizers were also great - my steamers were different than I've ever had because the flavor of the shallots really added a ton of flavor. Drink prices are ridiculous (they are everywhere on the island, but especially for the size of the Maverick. Food was great, service was ok (though our waitress wasn't very enthusiastic), you'll pay Island prices here, and place gets VERY loud so be aware.

The service was friendly while the food came out fast. For a starter, a dozen oysters were ordered. The oyster on the day I attended were from Chincoteague. They were extremely large and came out well chilled. These were tasty and appeared very fresh. For an entrée, I had the grilled swordfish. It came with an avocado shrimp salad and haricot verts. There was also an herb butter present on the fish. The piece of fish was on the smaller end but cooked ideally. The flavor was alright. The butter was tasted, but not enough seasoning was present on the fish. It tasted a little bland. The two sides also lacked in quantity. The avocado shrimp was also just decent. I also tried a crab cake, which was rather large. Again, this was not bad. Three more items I tried were scallop risotto, coconut rice and the old beach haven spaghetti. Yet again, all three were okay, but the spaghetti definitely was the preferred choice. The scallops were not cooked the best and was plain too as well as the coconut rice. Will I go back? Possibly.
