We opted for the rooftop bar, which only served drinks, appetizers, and sushi. This place is pricy!! I was kind of shocked... $16 cocktails ... Down the shore... What is this... Manhattan? The good thing was the quality of the drinks was spectacular so I quickly disregarded price. Food was pricy too. Now I enjoy a nice, more expensive restaurant often... However there is a certain level of service you expect when you are paying so much for your dinner. Our waiter could have given two craps about us. Slow, inattentive, and not very personable. Food was OK. The first order of calamari we ordered was undercooked and surprisingly small (hence the second order... Which was much crispier) No soy sauce was given with our sushi... We had to ask the kind lady's at the table next to us if we could steal theirs. No silverware or plates until after our food was brought out. Fried pickles were good! Would I come back? Probably. Well hop in a time machine and go to daddy o about three years ago when it was way better. Sometimes I enjoy a lime slices as a garnish in my drink. What I don't enjoy is a small bug floating in it. We would have let the waitress know this, but she ignored us (and every other table around us) the entire night and didn't even ask how our food or drink was. Hence, this review. Daddy-O reminds me a lot of the New Miami Beach, FL....extremely overrated, extremely expensive, not particularly very nice and nothing but rude, arrogant, attitudes anywhere you go. Also plenty of pretenders flocking at the bar pretending to be something they are not. Dined at Daddy-O a few weeks ago and would never return. Host at the door didn't even acknowledge our entrance and kept his head down as he was seating us. Our waitress was Nicole who clearly had no intentions of either working that night or decided before she started work that she was going to take her bad day out of everyone else. I am sure her day was much worse after no tip was left by myself, but I am sure she didn't care. Onto the entree's!!!!!!! I ordered the duck which was as expensive as my car payments for my Lexuses. Everything here is A LA CARTE [ we couldn't leave out the NYC OR MIAMI FINANCIAL RAPE flavor ] and I ordered some mashed potatoes at 8 dollars a head. Mashed potatoes arrived 10 minutes before my duck arrived, yes.. 10 minutes. What moron was cooking? Was it his first day? My date didn't touch her sea bass and when I asked her twice if she liked it, she replied "yes" I think she was just trying to be nice to me. I don't know what the fuss about how expensive this place is, is all about. Do you see the summer homes in the area? So what do you expect...of course its going to cost you a pretty penny and its worth it. The lobby staff is super nice. I called a week prior to see if they could make a cake for my boyfriends birthday as a surprise. We checked it and they delivered it to out door..Best.Cake.Ever. They were so accommodating and the room was awesome (we had a suite). The only downfall, is that I expected more from the rooftop bar. Our waiter was kind of ditzy and the vibe was overly relaxed. I was expecting better music (live maybe) on the rooftop over the downstairs bar. The restaurant was de-lish!, the salmon was one of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure what makes the "New York" crowd feel as if they needed to bring "class" to LBI, but Daddy O's is just one example of the over-priced, over-hyped kind of place that has detracted from the charm which was LBI. Formerly the site of Weeda's Hotel, which I will admit was pretty cheesy, Daddy O's came in and totally revamped the place. The bar itself is nice but small, the restaurant is lovely but loud and the seating is not very comfortable. The Asian inspired surroundings are nice, but out of place in a beach town such as this. In short, it's just too much for where it is located. The food is ok, but it's really nothing to write home about. The two times I have been I had fish dishes and they were good, but not spectacular, which was disappointing given the "over the top"ness of the rest of the place. The staff are courteous, but also act as if you are in the way of the next person they will be serving and therefore they don't really go out of their way to be extra attentive. My wife and I have eaten at Daddy O every year since they opened. The atmosphere is fun and offers a pleasantly sophisticated dining experience (at least for LBI). And I am happy to say that after a couple of years of merely being good Daddy O's is back to peak form. On the food side the theme of the night appeared to be boring names for elevated dishes. The 'chopped salad' was a delightful medley of flavors and textures with a mix of veggies balanced by blue cheese and house made tortilla strips. And the 'Mac N Cheese' was a sophisticated take on shrimp and fusilli in a pungent cream sauce. Two wonderful sushi rolls - the Queen City and 44th st - rounded out our meal. All the dishes were enormous and we ended up with leftovers. On the drink side The Equator (ordered light on the simple syrup) and Campfire Mead (with club soda instead of sprite) both delivered that mix of fruit, herb, spice and fire that distinguish the best cocktails. Added to all that wonderfulness, fabulous service and that Daddy O's atmosphere made for a memorable night. We look forward to next year. read more

Happy hour apps were delicious. The bartenders were rude and unfriendly. No one was walking around taking orders so we ordered food at the bar and sat in the happy hour section. One of the bartenders walked over to our table and snapped at us saying that our food was sitting at the bar and that the happy hour section and bar (although right next to each other and we would have sat at the bar if there were seats) are not the same and come and get our food! Her tone was disappointing. We're on vacation in a beautiful beach town just trying to enjoy ourselves and that left a bad impression of Daddy O's. We were very excited to stay at the Daddy-O as part of our weekend in the Garden State. My wife and I are Jersey Shore aficionados and our years of experience tell us that as a general rule, there are not 'nice' hotels on the Jersey Shore. I'm in between three and four stars for this hotel. It presents itself very well. The hotel is gorgeous. It's very cool and so un Jersey shore it's uncanny! Sleek designs and textures abound. The hotel has the feel of a slick downtown Kimpton hotel. We truly only had one problem - and it's a reoccurring theme on this thread - our room was roughly the size of a prison cell. We honestly could not believe how small the room was. You walk in and hit the bed. No seating area, no place to really even put your bags. Just really, really small. The furnishing, bedding, etc. are all really cool, but you can't deny the size. Further, as you open the shudders to see outside, the view is blocked by air ducts. All that said, I made my way to the front desk to inquire about some other options. They were very cool and friendly. In the end, we cut a deal. I paid $30 more to move into a queen suite and we're leaving a day early and heading to Atlantic City. Having moved, I can tell you that the larger room is very nice. More than enough space to spread out. We were planning on dining in their restaurant but since we're departing early, we won't have the opportunity. There are reviews all over the hotel for the restaurant, it looks nice. The bar is really nice and of good size, I imagine it's slammed on season. I can't comment on the hotel, only the restaurant. My friend S and I went there on Memorial Day weekend for dinner. We were seated in a REALLY dark corner, dark enough that S had trouble reading the menu. The restaurant is divided into two rooms, a bright red colored one and a dark wood one behind it. I would have requested the front red room if I'd known better. Not a complaint, just a personal preference. This place isn't what you'd call "Jersey Shore." It's more upscale and lounge feeling, more like something you'd see in New York or Philly. Now, moving on the food, we really enjoyed our whole meal! Our server was fantastic, attentive but not on top of you the whole night. We shared the calamari to start. It was drizzled with a spicy aioli and there was a chili sauce for dipping. Very tasty, we really enjoyed it. And the portion wasn't too much. We still had room for our entrees. S had the mahi mahi which came with some sort of herbed rice. I had the salmon which came with polenta cakes. I loved the salmon. And I was actually asked how I wanted it prepared (medium well -- I like mine a little crispy) as opposed to most restaurants who just cook it acccording to their preference. I will say S's mahi mahi was a little overcooked but she didn't mind since she prefers it that way. We decided we had just enough room for dessert. S got the key lime pie which you could tell was fresh and made there, not Sara Lee. I got some sort of banana cake with peanut butter sandwiched in between and drizzled with chocolate. To die for. What a great combination of flavors! It was also served with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream. I loved the hot and cold contrast with the cake and ice cream. Too commercial and a target for the tourists. I've come here over the years on occasion for dinner or apps, sitting at the bar. A nice atmosphere , lots of times live music but the drinks are so small and awful.. Martinis are tiny, wine pour is horrible and food (apps) tonight and sushi is nothing more than mediocre. Sushi was not worth getting again. Boneless chicken bites were dredged with the sweet chili sauce that you couldn't even taste the chicken. We also ordered the cauliflower and cheese pizza which was decent. This place might be worth coming for HH but otherwise has gone downhill and you just know they're trying to get as much money from tourists during the summer. It shows. read more

Let's face it Daddy O's is pretty expensive. I don't wanna say it's worth it but it's the best Hotel on the island. The only issue I have with the hotel is the wifi. My room was the farthest from the lobby and I couldn't get any internet. Huge bummer considering the price for a room. I went to lunch with a party of 7 and apparently they redid the menu. I had a little bit of everyones meal and everyones food was really good. The one downside were the cocktails. They were extremely weak. it would easily cost anyone $50-$75 to get a buzz. This is a review for the hotel. The hotel is super modern and nice, and very walkable to the beach. We came there during the off season on a weeknight through a deal from Jetsetter. The front desk lady, Heather, was professional and sweet, and without me asking for it she upgraded me to a queen suite. I asked what the differences with rooms are and she explained without hesitation. I read some previous dissatisfied reviews on Trip Advisor so I was a little concerned. She said I wasn't near the laundry or elevators. She also said that we could request a later check out, and to check back tomorrow when the manager is there. We had to call back in the room and ask about the internet wifi password and parking pass (parking is free) which I think we should of been told at check in so although she's a sweetheart, with a boutique hotel you expect them to be more proactive. The wifi is very weak in my room so I had to tether my phone. There was fresh fruit out, though, which is a nice touch. The hotel, room and bathrooms are all very clean. The room itself is gorgeous. It is spacey with a sitting area, queen sized bed and a sizable bathroom. Like the rest of the hotel, it's modern contemporary with a hint of vintage beach art. The elevator is cool looking but not for the claustrophobic. The stairway is actually carpeted and decorated. We loved the room. The tv seems disproportionately small compared to the rest of the room though, and not super viewable from bed, but we don't watch much tv. Now my biggest complaint is something they can't do much about, the noise. Our room, 215, is right next to Long Beach Blvd, so starting around 6:30am you hear traffic through the rest of the day. I would recommend they double pane the windows to avoid this but it did wake me. The other noise issue is that we heard furniture being moved around at 11pm and probably again around 7am/8am (not sure), so that was disturbing. Also, the walls to the bathroom are thin so you should be comfortable with who you're staying with. You could hear noise from anyone in the hall which isn't a major issue when only one other couple is staying in the hotel. If there is music below you you'll hear that too. So for this hotel keep in mind unless you're a heavy sleeper, you may have noise issues. read more

For that I would give the service a 3 out of 5. Otherwise, the food is fantastic and the waiter was very attentive and knowledgable about the menu. I hate having to write this review. First off it's solely for the hotel! We booked to stay here for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend. En route to LBI my husband for a call from his family to say his grandad had taken gravely ill. We informed the hotel upon arrival that we may have to cut the visit short and if we could move the reservation to another date if that was the case. Sure we were told! Unfortunately his grandad died the next day and my husband had to fly home to London. Ever since I have mailed the hotel 4 times and called twice to no avail. Not one reply and no one is willing to help. We pay $400+ a night and cannot get another date reserved. So unprofessional and frustrating. No one was at the door to seat us and welcome us to the restaurant. It is a large establishment so it was a little strange as it didn't seem like anyone else was being seated. The wait service was nice but disappeared frequently and didn't seem familiar with the drink or dinner menu. We ordered drinks and they were ok. The appetizer was wonderful: lobster and gnocchi but it was very small and extremely pricey! I had the crab cakes and they were very spicy and too much breading and dry. They covered them in matchstick frowns with dressing. He risotto wasn't cooked all the way as our side. My friend had a seafood Cobb salad which was extremely over dressed. We were disappointed as this was a place we we t last year and the food and overall experience was amazing. This year I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I love this place. I've stayed in hotel for the past 4 summers and find it comfortable and clean. I went to dinner last night and while my dinner was really good, it could have been better. I got a spinach salad which I added scallops to and it was $26. While I was fine with the price, when it arrived on what was the size of a dessert plate I was very disappointed in the portion. Come on Daddy O's, throw in two more handfuls of spinach (which is about $.50) on a larger plate, and it will make your customers feel like they are getting their $26 worth. Hopefully you will start paying attention to what people are saying as if you would, you could have an amazing place that people would want to come back to!! read more

It was OK, not amazing. I had the tuna tartar for my app, in a bath of soy sauce, it was too salty for me. My husband enjoyed the chopped salad for his app. My entree was the scallops with spaghetti veg. The scallops and veg were beautiful but the sauce was again too salty ( I put salt on EVERYTHING). My husband had the crab cakes and enjoyed them. The service was over the top amazing, and the place beautifully decorated. I would come again for a nice lunch. read more

Stopped in for drinks and dessert after dinner. We ordered creme brulee which was overcooked and covered with soaked berries and sauce. The berries seem to have been soaked in sugar for days causing them to be extremely mushy and sweet. Not sure why you would float a sauce on top of the bruleed sugar, but it was not a good idea. The O Punch was good, but the Old Fashioned had too much syrup in it and was very watered down. On a high note the AC worked very well even when it was over 100 outside. Dined here sunday evening at the inside bar. Had the drink with the coconut and my husband had a margarita. Our drinks were recommended to us by our bartender, Nicole, and were very delicious! Opted from the sushi menu....and started off with the seaweed salad. great presentation and taste! we got a few rolls after and were very impressed with the freshness and authenticity of the sushi. Once we were done we wanted to order dessert. It was past 10 pm and the kitchen was already closed but Nicole told us she would be able to make dessert happen for us anyway! I came to this restaurant on a Friday night and my experience is solely based on the rooftop bar / lounge area. I came around 8pm to meet some friends, and although the place was filled there were plenty of places to sit down and chat. The rooftop bar did not get packed until 9pm! The staff at the roof top bar was nice and attentive and provided excellent service when it came to making our drinks. Another thing I noticed was that the view was "ok," I was expecting something along the lines of Asbury's beer garden view, but this was just "ok," neither amazing nor unsatisfactory. As far as pricing goes, the drinks tend to be a little pricy but hey, we're in LBI right? From all the roof top bars and lounges I have been too such as the ones in NYC overlooking the skyline and ones in Asbury, this ranks the lowest in views. In conclusion, the roof top bartenders were friendly and great, and so was the service. The cons would be pricing and the lack of a view. Would I come back here again? Met a friend for lunch. Ordered Mediterranean Flatbread, Daddy O'Frites and Thai Steak Noodle with drinks. Waitress, although polite, extremely inexperienced and overwhelmed. Food took forever to be delivered and everything was cold. No plates or serving utensils were brought, needed to ask for them twice. Flatbread had potential to be good, but cold and overcooked was on the charred side. The Daddy O'Frites, which are supposed to have bacon & blue cheese, were cold and did not have bacon or blue cheese. After sending them back, they return with a TINY, barely able to see, bit of blue cheese still no bacon. Waitress says she'll get another, it never comes. Thai Steak Noodle dish is good. Ordered cappuccinos, 20 mins later cold brown water is delivered to table with no spoons or sugar. Have to wait another 10 mins to find waitress to ask for the brown water cappuccinos to be removed from the tab and to get the check. Waitress acknowledges she didn't know how to make cappuccinos and thinks the machine is broken [then why were they delivered and why not get a manager to help?]. Nice interior and location but food and service are no way worth the price. read more

I ordered a beer and waitress brought a completely different beer that I ordered. Didn't not ID anyone at the table for our beverages and rarely checked on us for drinks or to ask about our food that we had problems with. So this is a hotel and a resturant. I ate during dinner and the food seemed asian inspired. Good food, Excellent decor, black and red with dim lighting. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had the pan seared mahi-mahi, very good. The person i was with had classic maine lobster bisque soup, which he absolutly loved. The food is moderatly pricy, but is what you expect for the atmoshere, and the portions are smaller. The desert we shared was some sort of chocolate fruit thing and was very good, small but very tasty. All around I like the place and would go back. read more
