I got a couple of quotes through Yelp, but ultimately decided to go with Kay Green -- and I'm so glad I did. It took Young and his crew about a day and a half to complete the project. I live in a townhouse community, and they were very respectful of the shared space. They did an excellent job cleaning up the carport area they used for their equipment and materials. We ran into a few unexpected issues during the project, but Young was always upfront about what was happening and communicated his solutions clearly. His recommendations were thoughtful and turned out great. I would definitely use Kay Green again for any future landscaping projects and will happily recommend them to family and friends!

The price was reasonable (not the cheapest or the most expensive). The day before the project Young came over again and placed the trees exactly where they needed to go. I appreciated this because I could see how the fina placement would look like and make adjustments. The morning of the project his 3 crew members arrived on time and got stared. Young joined in and they were all done well before the end of the day. They do landscaping including pavers and lighting. I will definitely use them again for future projects.

The woodchips we had we becoming more and more of an eyesore and the tree stumps started rotting due to all the rain and smelled horrible. Erik was able to come out on relatively short notice and we asked about pet proof turf and he was able to bring a couple samples for us to view. Even though some of the samples he brought were super lush, he suggested a shorter turf so it's easier to clean. His quote was super reasonable as well. We pretty much knew we wanted to hire him right after he left so we gave him a call and he was able to come out 2 days later to install the turf. His team arrived early and spent the entire day getting rid of the stumps, leveling out the dirt, adding composite, and installing the turf. He also added some rocks at the border near the fence so the entire area looks super cute. I left on a work trip and came back a week later so I didn't see it the day it was done but coming back to it made me so happy. It looks incredibly good. I can't help but admire it every time I'm out there and my dogs are super in love with it too. If i ever need any additional landscaping or fence services, I will definitely hire Erik and his team again!

Our driveway previously had…read morea concrete overlay applied (by a different vendor) with color, and now needed some areas to be patched, color added, and clear sealant applied. Rick gave us a reasonable quote for $3600. After signing the contract, Rick's workers (not Rick) came to sand, patch, add color and reseal the driveway. That's where it started to go wrong. I was rushing around with my 3 year old the day work was being performed and agreed to leave a check for them under the doormat (my mistake - I should've never paid them). As for the work they performed - it's embarrassing. You can't even see where they added color, and the color applied over the patched areas is wrong. Their pump spray for the sealer even clogged up and exploded in front of my driveway leaving sealer overspray on my mailbox and HOA road in front of my house. It now looks worse than before they touched the driveway. I asked Rick to fix it and he had one guy return the next day. He never returned himself to see how the job was performed. It's still all messed up. See pictures for yourself. I've tried to contact Rick at least 4 times via text message or voicemail and I've gotten no response. It seems as though I'm now being ignored. I'm not happy and regret hiring him. He took my $3600 and didn't perform the work within a professional manner.

From the very first phone call, we could tell he knew his craft. He spent generous time listening to our wish list and understanding our vision, explaining the design/build timeline, and answering every "what if" we threw his way. We also loved his design work in his portfolio of course. Shortly after we engaged Taylor, he was on site taking detailed measurements, photos, and even drone shots of our entire front and backyard. He flagged any potential sloping issues, suggested realistic solutions, and connected us to his trusted referral that could further help us. Any time we had follow up questions, he made himself available and responded quickly - no hard sell, just clear information. Although we weren't able to go forward with the full project due to unexpected yard and budget constraints, Taylor handled the change with total professionalism and never made us feel pressured. As a former Yelp Elite member, I don't write reviews lightly - but our experience with Gabriel and…read moreStep Up Construction truly deserves one. We recently completed a full master bathroom renovation along with a whole-house repipe (galvanized to copper), and from start to finish, Gabriel and his team were professional, transparent, and detail-oriented. Project Pitch Phase: Gabriel came out at least twice to carefully assess the scope of work. He was thoughtful in his recommendations - for example, suggesting we update the bay window to ensure the entire bathroom felt cohesive and aesthetically aligned. While it added to the cost, he explained the reasoning clearly and never felt pushy. He was upfront about pricing and the overall plan. He even invited us to visit another active job site so we could see the quality of work firsthand, beyond just online photos. Additionally, he had his plumber come out to provide a free quote for the copper repiping, which we appreciated. Work in Progress: Gabriel has built an incredible team. His project manager, Israel, was friendly, responsive, and incredibly helpful - especially when it came to selecting tiles, vanities, and fixtures. He helped obtain contractor discounts from vendors and was on-site almost daily (even if just for 10-15 minutes) to check in and address questions. After each visit, he followed up with videos and written notes summarizing discussions, which we found extremely professional and reassuring. The crew was punctual (arriving between 8-9am daily), respectful, and highly skilled - special shoutout to Asa for his craftsmanship. There were typically 1-2 workers on-site each day, and the entire project was completed in about 6 weeks. Wrap Up: The team cleaned up daily, which made living through construction much easier. At project completion, Gabriel even brought in professional cleaners to clean the entire house and driveway - a thoughtful touch. Most importantly, he was responsive and quick to address any small issues we noticed once we began using the new bathroom. Overall, we're very happy with the results and would confidently recommend Step Up Construction for renovation projects. Gabriel and his team deliver quality work with professionalism and care.

The remodeling horrors of my neighbors convinced me to choose Step Up Construction, which has a reputation for being professional and getting the job done right. Remodeling in a high rise in San Francisco is exceptionally challenging, but Gabriel made the process as painless as possible. Permits were pulled, and all necessary paperwork was submitted to my picky HOA. Israel, the project manager, was always available to field my concerns. And at the end of each day Israel sent me pictures to show the progress. Sam, the foreman, was kind enough to go the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied. All projects will have glitches, and when there was an impasse with a vendor, a quick text to Gabriel, and the problem was solved. Gabriel hired a team to deep clean the condo before I moved in. And even after I moved in, Gabriel texted to make sure everything was as I wanted It to be. I believe that the secret to their success is the quality of the humans in their entire team. They are good-hearted, hard-working people who sincerely care about workmanship and the customers they serve.
