I appreciate how close it is to campus. The prices are high but comparable to other boba places in the area.

There's also a Limited Series, a coffee series, plus all the classic milk teas, fruit teas, and milk based drinks. You still have all the usual customization options for sugar, ice, and toppings. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Parking was another pleasant surprise. I originally drove past thinking I'd have to search for street parking, but they actually have a shared lot. It made stopping in a lot easier than I expected. I ordered the On Cloud 9, which is a jasmine green milk tea with cheese foam and brown sugar boba. The drink itself was enjoyable. The jasmine wasn't overpowering, which let the cheese foam stand out without completely taking over the drink. I also liked that the sweetness of the brown sugar boba balanced the slight saltiness from the foam. Flavor-wise, I'd say it held its own against other boba shops in San Diego. The only thing that held it back was the boba. It had almost no chew left. Instead of adding texture, it kind of disappeared after one bite because it was so soft. Boba is one of those toppings that can completely change a drink. Even with that, I'd still come back. The menu has way too many interesting drinks to judge the shop off one order. If the boba had been fresher, this easily could've been one of those drinks I'd order again. I think next time I'd branch out and try something from their Limited Series instead.

Compared to the name of the spot, the interior felt like it belonged to a night time sushi spot. I'm not sure if they are allowed to repaint the interior, but changing the black/dark blue walls to something more bright would open up the space a little more-- it is a small place, but felt even smaller with the design choice. The menu was organized, but it seems like they were out of a few items in the morning as they didn't have mini pearls--only regular. And for some reason, you couldn't change the sweetness level on the drink...or maybe it just related to the drink I chose? Not sure, it was my first time there. The worker was nice & patient. Although for not having many people in the shop, I hope they could take the time to perfect their boba. It was VERY clumpy and not good-- texturally and taste wise. It didn't have that rich brown sugar taste and it was very gooey and chewy (not in a good way). They did give a good amount of boba, but I feel most people would toss it out because of the bad quality. Which would be a waste of money. To drink, I chose the Hokkaido Milk Tea with Pearls. I wanted to do 50 or 75% sweet but I guess since this is a caramel noted milk tea, it isn't possible. I think the tea was ok. I would order something else next time. My friend had the Okinawa Milk Tea with Pearls, I'm unsure if they asked for a certain sweetness level or not. They said the tea was good, but the pearls weren't good. Something to note, I charged the drinks on my card and rather than saying Sayaka Tea, it said Sharetea...interesting. I wonder if they rebranded themselves or ?? Each drinks were around ~$7-8 ish! I'll give them another try, I hope the boba will be better the next time around and I'll be allowed to change the sweetness. If not, I'll be heading a little further down the street as this tea spot may not be for me!

They stay open late, have ample parking, the space is clean, and the staff is friendly. They mainly operate with a kiosk ordering system, though I am sure you can order with an employee at the register if needed. The menu is displayed on a TV near the kiosk which makes it easy to find a drink. There are a few specials laid out on the register counter that make that area look a little cluttered. Maybe a bulletin board for those specials would make the space feel less busy, but it did not take away from my experience. After ordering we sat at one of the tables. There is a mix of high top seating and regular tables. I stayed here for about two hours to catch up on getting work done and there was still plenty of seating available. This was on a Tuesday from about 1 to 3 PM. I ordered the Green Tea with Cheese Foam, Golden Boba, 75 percent sweet, and less ice. My husband ordered the Aloe Vera Peach Juice with 75 percent sweet and half ice. We both ordered large drinks. There was no signage about WiFi and I did not see other reviews mentioning it either, so we asked. Luckily the staff gave us the WiFi password which makes this a nice option for studying or getting work done. Our drinks came out pretty quickly. My green tea drink was a little bitter which usually means the tea may have been steeped a bit too long. With the lower sugar level it made the drink taste closer to a 25 percent sweetness level. The boba was chewy like usual but lacked sweetness and flavor, which is pretty typical for Ding Tea. The cheese foam tasted really good but the texture was strange. I occasionally got little chunky bits through the straw that felt like curdled cheese. It was definitely an interesting texture moment. Luckily I am not super sensitive to textures or it might have ruined the drink. Overall my drink was about a 6 out of 10. The Aloe Vera Peach Juice was surprisingly really good. It had a nice peach flavor mixed with that classic aloe vera juice taste you get from bottled aloe drinks. It also came with aloe pulp pieces which worked like a topping. It was refreshing and perfectly sweet. There are not many other boba spots in the surrounding area so competition is limited, but Ding Tea still offers a solid selection of drinks and satisfies the boba craving. Extra points for staying open late.

I will not be returning to this establishment. Unfortunately, it seemed like there was only 1 older staff member working and he seemed to be struggling. If that's the case, there should have been another staff member present to help him open the shop today for efficiency purposes. I have never experienced this encounter before and others who left informed me this boba shop ALWAYS opens late which is surprising to me because in the past they would ALWAYS open on time. I will be now traveling to convoy street if I truly wanted a boba drink. The staff also gave attitude, I don't expect you to be super jolly in the morning but the least you can do is be a little friendly especially if you opened 12 minutes late. This establishment used to run like a well oiled machine, not sure what happened over the years but they have to retrain some of their staff especially those who open @ 11am.

From the very beginning, I was blown away by the level of care and attention I received. The owner, Le, personally answered my call and guided me through the menu with a level of detail and warmth that immediately put me at ease. I have specific safety needs and allergies, and she handled everything with such grace and professionalism. She was clear, direct, and supported me through every action of the process without ever overwhelming me. What I deeply appreciated out most was how naturally she accommodated my needs. There wasn't a moment where I felt like an inconvenience. Instead, I felt genuinely cared for. Le's passion for her craft is unmistakable. She shared how she has studied flavors extensively, traveling to Vietnam and Taiwan to deepen her understanding of traditional techniques and flavor profiles. That dedication shines through in every sip. She explained how she carefully develops her own recipes, blending cultural influences with precision and creativity. Even the boba itself is made fresh every morning, which makes a huge difference. I can taste the quality, texture, and freshness immediately. I started with the taro milk tea (with almond milk due to my allergies), and it was absolutely phenomenal. The drink was luxuriously creamy with a silky, smooth texture that coated the palate in the most satisfying way. The taro flavor was rich and earthy with a subtle nuttiness, balanced by a gentle sweetness that never became overpowering. Just when it seemed like it might lean too sweet, the creaminess would round everything out perfectly, creating a beautifully harmonious flavor profile. Adding the boba elevated the experience even more. The pearls were soft yet chewy, with just the right amount of bounce, and carried a delicate sweetness that complemented the drink rather than competing with it. It was, without question, the best taro milk tea I've ever had. Next, I tried the "Over the Rainbow," and it was just as impressive in a completely different way. This drink was bright, vibrant, and incredibly refreshing. The tartness of the lemonade provided a crisp, zesty backbone, while the popping boba added bursts of sweetness that danced across the tongue. Each sip was layered and dynamic, cool, tangy, sweet, and slightly effervescent in feeling. Visually, it was stunning as well, with beautiful, shifting colors that made the experience feel almost magical. It was as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the taste buds. Both drinks were so good that I drank them down almost immediately! I didn't even think to take a photo! I even found myself savoring the melted ice afterward just to enjoy every last trace of flavor, which shares a lot about the quality and balance of the drinks. To top it all off, Analise, who helped me at checkout, was equally kind and accommodating. She continued the same level of care and attentiveness, making sure my safety needs were respected and that I felt comfortable throughout the entire experience. Boba Monkey has truly set a new standard for me. Between the exceptional quality of the drinks, the depth of flavor, the cultural authenticity, and the genuine kindness of the staff, this place is in a league of its own. If I could give them a billion stars, I absolutely would. Best drinks, best boba, and one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had.

I believe a previous bubble tea vendor operated out of this shack before Boba Monkey did. The menu offered iced coffee, matcha, milk tea, slushes, and specialty drinks in regular and large sizes. For a place with minimal overhead costs, the prices were high with a range from $6.50 to $8.50. Toppings were $1 or $2 apiece. From the list of five Milk Teas, I picked a large size of the first one which was the namesake Boba Monkey Milk Tea. I requested less ice, normal sugar, and the addition of boba pearls. The cup was a 20 oz serving, and the total was over $10 after tax and gratuity. I didn't find this milk tea to be anything more than ordinary. There wasn't a strong tea flavor, and the boba pearls were average for chewiness. You may also have to drive around the side streets before locating a curbside spot if the ones directly in front were occupied. For the quality and cost of the product I tried, I gave a generous three star rating for Boba Monkey.

I always only get the Honeydew Bubble at 50% sugar with light boba. Tell me why it still tastes like 100% sugar? The same thing happened with the Mango Sago, which was wayyy too sweet. And what makes it even more disappointing is that they've raised their prices. One drink is now just under $10, so when I'm paying that much for ONE drink, I expect the recipe and quality to be consistent every time. Another thing that really bothers me is seeing the girls working with their hair completely down. It's honestly pretty off-putting when you're handling food and drinks, and I really hope the team is being properly trained in food safety and hygiene standards. I genuinely love Urban Bubble, which is why this is so disappointing. Please adjust the sugar levels or train the team to follow the recipes more consistently!
