Brought in my old Buick on a recommendation from another spot. I had just installed air ride and needed an alignment. Upon dropping off the car they told me that due to the age they would charge hourly vs the flat rate, which is reasonable since they haven't made parts for this thing in 4 or 5 decades. They took the time to dial in my steering box which was way out of whack. I could not be happier with the improvement in the steering. It still drives like an old car, but the jerkiness and involuntary lane changes are gone. :) He got the best possible result out of my 72 year old steering parts and gave some great advice to boot. read more

I like the fact that they've been in business since 1960. That says a lot right there. They must be doing something right. I got a wheel alignment and a brake job (hey, that's what they do, right?) that were sorely needed. They called me and told me exactly what needed to be done (cleaning, flush lines, turn rotors) and what didn't (replace pads) and the price seemed fair. Staff was honest, friendly and knowledgeable. Great company. I brought my truck in yesterday, Lance took the time to take a drive with me and listened to my problem and confirmed it was a lesser problem then what I thought. He lifted my truck up and diagnosed it for zero cost. Who does that? Liz the assistant manager was very nice and courteous. She gave me a quote for the labor and parts very very reasonable. These guys are amazing. Took my '01 Cherokee to them to look at the front end after I got it lifted 3.5". Ride didn't seem right and the sway bar disco was rubbing against the track bar mount on driver side. They checked it all out and offered some suggestions, took about an hour, and didn't even charge me. I got a few estimates from them for work, all steering components first, upper and lower ball joints second. I knew this stuff needed to be replaced and had checked around to a few places for estimates. You guessed it, they were the lowest. They even suggest I do the steering components first, to further diagnose ball joints and any other issues. They did the service in the promised time and came in a little less than the quote. I now get to save for ball joints and UCA with bushings to be replaced, all good advice from them after checking out the whole front end. Mind you, I assumed all this needed to be done due to lift and still having mostly all stock original steering parts on the Jeep. Lifts will show you what is worn out really quick when you are driving around, so none of this was a surprise to me. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the advice was for what was needed and not any extra stuff to make money. They even let you bring in your own parts for install, great way to save money. The customer service here rocks, the mechanics are knowledgeable, the woman at the desk (sorry, forgot her name) is attentive, quick at getting quotes, and even remembered me after 10 days and only seeing me once. Got a few months to save for the rest of what is needed but will definitely take it to them. Thanks for the great service! read more

Had the front differential on my truck go out. They mis-reported the cause of the failure, then quoted my share of the cost and gave me a day when work was supposed to be completed. Well, the day it was supposed to be done they informed me that it was going to take another 5 days to complete, so we had to rent a car for the trip we had planned to take the truck on. Then, once we got back, the repairs we were billed for were over $200 MORE than what we were quoted. The work SEEMS sound, but the extra time and added charges made this whole deal pretty bad. I won't be patronizing this establishment again. read more

I recently went to DABNEY'S ALIGNMENT & BRAKE after my rake and pinion plus the outer tie rods were replaced for an alignment. The new parts were not torqued down as the car was to be aligned with in the week. During that week the car developed a noticeable noise. When I arrived at DABNEY'S ALIGNMENT & BRAKE I told the owner Tom the rack and outer tie rods were new. Pretty obvious since they looked fresh out of a box - no dirt or grease. Tom didn't bother to even look at the car or make a point of telling his worker the parts were new. I did after about 15 minutes and told him to please look for the noise as something wasn't right. The worker finished the job and announced he had found the noise, a loose nut. He indicated it was one of the lock nuts which are used to actually lock the alignment once the job is finished. I paid and left. The noise was immediate but the what was the point of returning since DABNEY'S ALIGNMENT & BRAKE had gone through the front end and found nothing right! I had my brother in law who is a highly qualified mechanic help me look for the noise after 3 to 4 days. It took him under a minute to find it. The outer tie rod nut hadn't been torqued down allowing enough movement to cause the noise. Tighten it down. Since the worker had missed it (despite doing the same test my brother in law had done), the alignment was off and the steering wheel wasn't straight. I called about the issue. Tom agreed to realign it but not for free as he felt there was shared responsibility. I didn't really see why he felt that way but agreed to his price. The day before the realignment Tom called and went on and on about how this wasn't his problem then jumped the cost up 50%. I said okay. Tom, however went on and proclaimed he was "hot" about the situation and accused me of taking advantage of him. I cancelled the appointment. I guess Tom thinks even though the noise issue was raised a nut which is part of the alignment assembly and 4 inches from the nut normally adjusted to do the alignment doesn't need to be checked. I guess customer satisfaction doesn't matter once a bill is paid and I guess his worker is completely incompetent when it comes to checking for issues. The nut he said was the issue can't cause noise according to my brother in law. I think Tom is a crusty old fart who doesn't care when things don't turn out after the bill is paid. It's all about the money. That's what happened so perhaps you might want to go else where. read more

I stopped in to have my front brakes looked at one morning. Left my car with them and they quickly looked at it and called me with a quote. They replaced the front brakes that same day. I have a BMW 325i that had a major problem (so I thought) with the front end. I assumed that every arm, bushing and ball joint would was shot! The owner, Tom, took the car in immediately and at no charge provided me with some very good news. All I needed was two front end bushings on the arm that runs back to the frame. Even better, Tom sent me to a discount parts house which saved me $130 dollars. The parts cost me $125 and they were true German parts. I brought the car back and he had the job completed in a little over an hour. He's also done work for me in the past on my Chevy Duramax with phenomenal results. Courteous, polite and priced very fair. Extenuating circumstances must have caused the previous individual to write a poor review. A very unfair review to say the least. Perhaps he was just having a bad day. Or, perhaps he lacked the understanding of the work that needed to be done which sometimes can lead to more time once the unit is torn down. read more

I brought my car in for a wheel alignment. They didn't do the alignment and diagnosed repairs it needed even after I told them I did not need a diagnosis. I told them before hand that the car needs repairs and I know what they are and I asked them if they will do the alignment anyways. They said yes. In the end they didn't do the alignment and charged me 50 dollars for a diagnosis that I told them I didn't need. I also had to wait two hours. read more

Took the 1965 mustang to The Line-up Shop, Inc at 834 SE Sandy Blvd, they did not have to take the tires off, made an appointment for 1:30pm, and it was done 2:30 pm, we did not have to drop off 9am and pu 5pm, and have a hassle. The charge was $65.00 and they did the alignment, did not try and charge $48.50 for hanging lights and not doing they alignment, stating they have to take tires off, and lose a key for the locks on tires... which cost us money to have drilled off. We have heard from other people since, upcharge is their business, I am sorry I spent $2100 on my Del Sol, I could have saved money, makes me wonder if it needed and all got done read more

Excellent customer service! Very very friendly and welcoming people. I felt so comfortable the minute I spoke to them. The sweet girl at the counter in charge, very nice. She picked me up and took me back to their shop. That was really nice of her to do that. The mechanic was very knowledgeable and took time to engage in our conversation. And the best part of it all is they saved me money. Because, I thought for sure I needed everything replaced just by the way my car was sounding. They checked it and seeing that everything was still good. They just needed to clean it and put my drums back in it's place because, it was so out of line. That being said, I believe that is honesty. i have known places I know for a fact they just come up with problems in your car that isn't really there. Thank goodness for these nice people. From oil changes, alignments, brakes & tire issues I've been very pleased with the work and would recommend Dabney's to everyone. Cost is very reasonable, labor cost is average and I'm a firm believer in you pay for what you get. They've had my car for a few hours for some things & for a few days for others, with that being said I trust their opinion on how long they need to complete the work right. (There's nothing worse then someone telling you how to do your job & how long it should take, just a tip: trust the professional who's been in business for 30+yrs).
