Be it KNOWN(!) that everything on the menu is exorbitantly priced, despite and even so,--that it is mid-town NYC. So, I'm dressed professionally (and I always look terrific) for a conference I'm attending. I had been walking down the block to a coffeehouse, but saw this enroute and decided to give them a try (oh, and the bellman assured me the coffee was good--not), I was properly greeted and seated by the hostess. The server was courteous. I wasn't (necessarily) ignored. There was a medium level of fellow customers--at least half family level in (definitely) casual attire. I have my own food preferences and dietary limitations. There was literally nothing on the menu I wanted. So, I resorted to addressing my visit as an 'experience.' It was a highly disappointing visit. I ordered the 'continental' option which specifically included butter. When I placed my order I SPECIFICALLY stated butter, yet, guess what? NO butter. I had to ask the server for the butter. I must have protein in my diet, so I'd ordered a side of a poached egg. It was served watery, which means they didn't bother to drain it/place it on a towel before serving it (THIS is an immediate rating FAIL). Also, poached should ALWAYS be served 'medium' (like with an 'eggs Benedict') so that when you cut into it, the yolk has some texture of very loose firmness. Not mine, it 'bled out.' Another 'FAIL.' I wasn't provided seasoning, salt nor pepper. And just as I had to ASK for my butter--though I could see it across the isle from my table, there were tiny individual Tobasco bottles (and a multitude of other individual condiments) my server FAILED to offer/volunteer (any). When I requested a Tobasco, he removed (and KEPT) the lid of this tiny individual service bottle (I found that offensive), The 'mass market (Sam's Club/COSTCO'ish)' 'pastries' were dry, flavorless, disappointing and ONLY consumed/used to sop the 'disemboweled' poached egg. (I could have had 3X better morning repast at my own hotels' COMPLIMENTARY spread.) Conclusion, despite the beautiful setting, and the faux facade of service: I was treated as a 'class B' customer (poor treatment/bad food). I would not ever return. read more

We had a long wait before the waiter came to take our order, then a long wait for our food to come, and when it came out they forgot our juice. We just ordered eggs Benedict and American breakfast, nothing crazy. We only saw our actual waiter when we ordered, when we got up to go to the bathroom (so he could get our room number), and when I had a problem with the check - he had charged us $20 extra for the juice and coffee that were supposed to be included with the set menus. I had to beg other servers multiple times to come to bring us the juice we ordered and get refills on the coffee. The price was $26 per set menu and they had a fixed 18% service fee, and had the nerve to ask for a tip on top of that. Really disgusting. The actual food was meh. Maybe it would have been better if it wasn't cold when it came out, I don't know. Don't come here even if you're staying at the hotel. read more

A restaurant situated within the Luxury Collection Hotel "Dabble" is a nice place to grab a bite or a drink. It's not too large of the restaurant but there's definitely ample space. As it is part of a luxury hotel is is more of a fancier upscale eatery. We came for a nightcap and they do have a separate menu after I believe 10 or 11pm. Since it was so late we didn't have any problem being seated. The late evening vibe here was very relaxed and quite enjoyable. Soon after being seated our waiter promptly introduced himself took our order. Since we weren't too hungry we just ordered a drink and a small bite to share. I wasn't too fond of the cocktails. But perhaps I just didn't choose the right drink for my palate. The wagyu burgers we got however were very good! Juicy and tender and full of flavor! We had a good time here but I will say the prices are definitely on the higher end. While it is a luxury hotel I'm not sure the taste really justifies the cost. We were staying at the Luxury collection hotel and came here a few times for breakfast and dinner. The family wanted our last meal in NYC to be here so that is telling. The breakfast menu offers a good variety of items. My husband got the bagel and lox both times. It's a large plate with a good amount of salmon and a large bagel. I tried the American breakfast one day and the avocado toast on another day. The American breakfast was the standard eggs like you want with potatoes and your choice of protein. It was good. I found the avocado toast a bit sweet. I'm not sure if it was the bread or the avocado. It was the right amount of food, without overeating. The kids enjoyed the pancakes. It was large enough to split between two kids. We loved the dinner items. The mushroom risotto was the main reason for us coming here twice. It is amazing!!!! My daughter and I split the dish out first night and we both agreed we had to come back for it again. The kids loved the meatballs. They ordered it both nights. Other items we ordered were tuna tartare, bucatini pesto pasta, sea bass, and steak. All dishes were good, but the mushroom risotto was the standout. Horrible money scam!!!! The 50 dollar credit gets you in the door. It was busy morning where they sat us at the bar to wait. Not once offered water or coffee while we waited so we looked over the menu. Avo toast with egg was shown as 30 and bagel w lox was 26 cup of coffee 10 for each! So we knew by the time we were seated what it was like. Waiter approaches and tries to give us coffee before we say no Ty just water! Plan on going to one of the many bakeries around after for a less than 5 dollars. He then continues to push drinks while we just want food. Btw that 14 dollar glass of juice is the plastic langers bottle from wal mart for 2 dollars. I saw them pour it at the bar. We get our food bagel comes out with no cream cheese! How you forget the main ingredient?! Fine we will wait again... Then comes the Bill. 2 mediocre meals for 77 dollars!!!!!!! Wtf?! Why eat at Dabble? Well, over the years I have eaten many a breakfast and had lunch too.... and I start with the service. The people from the person you meet as you walk into the space to all the service people have a great attitude and are extremely efficient. Not pushy but they add greatly to the space. It is a lovely place to sit and either get a place in the back to chat or enjoy the view looking out at the street. Appealing and really very nice. The prices are fair given the environment--- but the quality is really wonderful. I would recommend a full breakfast but you can't go wrong with an omelette. The orange juice glass was generous given I was in mid-town.... and then it was resolved I should return for lunch. Wrting here about the caesar salad is important to share how wonderful it was dressed and to remind me to get it again on my next visit. Chicken was a great add if you want protein. The real surprise was the fries as they were seasoned perfectly and with the heinz ketchup disappeared in a flash. They were not greasy and I would tell you to choose them if you can.... and for desert they only have a few at lunch but the cheesecake was both safe and fun. Got breakfast here and paid more than $35 for an omelete that unfortunately didn't have much flavor and that came with a slice of toasted whole wheat bread I could have gotten at the grocery store... I'd probably say just walk a few blocks to any well known food spot (it's NY!) and have a much better meal for less. ----- FOOD: Got the 3 egg omlete and credit where credit is due, the waiter let me choose 4 additions to the omelete even though the menu says to choose 3. However, the additions were barely detectable in the omelete, and overall the omelete have very little flavor. I DID like the small side of potato hash and the two small on-the-vine tomatoes that came with the omelete, but the toast was just so disappointing. ----- SERVICE: Service was great! My family and I have been staying at the Conrad with Dabble right downstairs. There are positive and negative things about this restaurant. It is the closest place to eat and the people are generally friendly. Prices are high to outrageous. The other morning I got a cup of coffee and tea for my wife and I was charged $10 for a pot of tea for my wife... My cup was $5 for some very average/sub par coffee. The day prior I came down in the evening to get coffee, a couple salads and some additional creamers for coffee and it was over $70. Last night I did order the scallop risotto and sweet potato fries. No way was it worth $70+ but I shared with anyone interested and they enjoyed it. To give you an idea, a cup of the soup of the day is $20. Call me frugal. The dessert we tried, they won't list on the in room menu, was something crème brûlée but came out as a little chocolate tower. My kids ate it but I was not excited by it. read more

Great hotel style restaurant located in the Conrad Midtown. Beautifully decorated, very chic. There was a small bar and a decent amount of tables but the place was not large. My girlfriends and I were greeted by a friendly hostess and promptly sat a perfect round table. Comfy seating and cozy. Our waiter Andres was fantastic. Very attentive but also gave us our space. Drink selection was impressive with great wine choices. The pricing is high here for a hotel style dining but in my opinion it was warranted. We came here for early apps and drinks. We each out the soup of the day which was out of this world. freshly made in house and the perfect blend of flavors. Service is pretty good and all of the employees were friendly and the restaurant is beautiful inside. But the prices at this restaurant are just INSANE. I know this is NYC but $8 for a shitty cup of coffee when any number of coffee shops within a few feet of the front door of this establishment are better and half the price. Based on yelp reviews I probably wouldn't have eaten here if we didn't have a $100 Amex credit while staying at the Conrad. There are so many amazing places to eat within a block of Dabble it didn't make sense to eat here. We were the first people in after they opened for lunch and one thing is clear, they didn't bother to clean after breakfast. Honestly it looks like someone just wiped the junk from the tables onto the seats and left it. What appeared to me a high level manager maybe for Hilton (dabble is inside Conrad Hilton) came in and set down in food debris also and said something then they started cleaning up. I had the chicken sandwich, my wife had the flatbread and we had two sodas and it was $106 after a 20% tip. Yes I really paid $106 to sit on food crumbs and stained seats. The sweet potato fries were good as was the chicken sandwich but at this price point it shouldn't have a cafeteria feel to it. read more

I don't know why there's the bad review for this place. I think it used to be a Gordon Ramsey restaurant and maybe its being compared to that expectation. I didn't stay at the hotel but i came here for catch up dinner at the bar with a buddy. I first ordered a Captain Lawrence beer to as waited for my friend. I was given mixed nuts when my beer came. The nuts were not planters but some mix and really good. For dinner, I ordered the long island duck and it was crazy good! That should be their signature dish! It's hard to rate this place highly, because the prices are so shockingly high and the service was decent 2 of 3 times and absolutely horrendous 1 time. Expect to pay $8-10 for coffee, tea or juice. Cocktails are small and start at $18. We were given $30 credit per person per day during our stay- and couldn't get out of breakfast spending only $30 per person. I'd recommend using your credits for overpriced drinks and going elsewhere for food. The food at Dabble is fine-- the smoked salmon flatbread was really good, and the fruit bowl was good (though extremely pricey, one day we were charged $10, the other day we were charged $16.... both at breakfast. Was going to go with a beer, but a blue moon was $12. The ones Hilton already provided in my room were $10, so why come to the bar for a beer? Cheapest beers were $10. I can get a 6 pack for those prices. I get that the location drives the prices, but these seemed excessive even for Midtown. If I'm going to spend 75% more here, then it better be an unforgettable experience, not just good. What I do care about is that their beer and coffee are both below their level of their brand. It's a nice hotel. We stayed at the Conrad hotel, so we had the breakfast buffet here twice and had dinner once. We would have had breakfast a third time, but on Saturday, the line was ridiculously long. You can choose the buffet or order al la carte. The price for al la carte was obscene, so although buffet is pricy as well, it's a much better deal. The buffet area was small and cramped. It's more of a galley. It has a selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt, bread, pastries as well as hot items like eggs , potatoes, and bacon/sausage. I was disappointed that the meat option was only pork since I don't eat pork. But my husband enjoyed it. The bacon was thick cut. Yogurt came in glass jars and the berries were quite fresh. Coffee was pretty good for brewed. As for dinner, the service was good. My roast chicken was moist but overly salty. I think they need to alter their brining solution and decrease its salinity. Husband's New York steak was just right. Flavorful and tender. Bread basket had bread that was warmed but the core was still cold. Not the best tasting selection. For convenience of dining, it's great. But if you're there just one night and you want a fine dining experience, skip this one. read more

Visited on a Friday night and was promptly seated upon arrival around 6pm. I loved the decor and atmosphere with the trendy group seating and pristine bar. I usually get very tired by dimly lit restaurants with a "trendy/romantic vibe" but Dabble is well lit and still offered the same feel. The restaurant wasn't crowded and it seemed that the bar may have been more popular than sitting for meals. No surprise because the drinks menu was long and all the cocktails sounded delicious. I loved the Blood orange and ginger cooler. Must rave about the soft butter that accompanied bread basket. For dinner I ordered the duck which was DELICIOUS. Soft and tender and so flavorful with the sauce pairing! The portion was a tad small though, I think I might've been more satisfied if there was an extra piece for the price.
