The Sprinkler Guy, Straten, is very responsive and professional. At the first consultation visit, he recommended a newer type of sprinkler head and brought all the parts with him the next day. I asked ahead of time if you could drill holes into a metal container, and he did it masterfully! I really appreciate him for going beyond and for being a good communicator. He did not even look phased, when I walked with him to each station to tweak each irrigation spout (I'm very particular). As a business owner myself, there are standards that one must live up to in order to grow a successful business. I decided to use his service, baised on the previous reviews, and give a chance to smaller business. I was disappointed in his overall quality of work and lack of attention to detail. The sprinklers were installed correctly is the reason I gave him 2 stars. However, he never cleaned the mess that he made once the job was finished, as pictures will show, and the holes he dug up, were never patched up. I would say this looked like the work of an amateur!! After contacting him, he apologized and said he couldn't find the hose on the side of the house, but he never asked for help. He also never offered to come back to finish the job, and I gave him a few days to see if he would contact me, but that didn't happen. I was not home to critique his work, but my wife said that everything was working correctly over the phone, and she gave him 20% tip. If you hire him, double-check his quality of work and have him walk you through, from start up to clean up. read more

Our Toro sprinkler system is 16 years old and suddenly stopped working. The problem was a failed pressure regulator and an isolation valve upstream of the regulator required replacement as well. Stratton (da Sprinkler Guy) is a young man experienced in irrigation systems for several years who established his own business within the last year. Good for him! He is a quick worker who knows exactly what is required - no wasted time. He fixed the main problem in one visit (which involved brazing copper pipe), taking a short break to get the needed parts, but only charging labor for the time actually on site (total of 1.5 hours). He returned the following week to replace a sprinkler line valve, cap another one, and replace two sprinkler heads. Our old system is now 100% functional. He is very responsive and professional. I had board of water supply knocking on my door one day, letting me know I had a really bad water main leak. So I called a plumber and he couldn't figure out the problem. He told me it might be an irrigation problem. So I called different irrigation companies, but no luck, and might i add, i called hawaii sprinkler and lighting for a week because they were the closest to my home and never got an answer or call back. When I contacted Stratton, he was prompt to respond and set a date to check out my sprinkler system, which has needed refurbishment for years, including pressure problems, sprinkler heads that don't work, and other issues. He and his assistant came out on the day arranged and spent four hours working on the system, including replacing a number of broken sprinkler heads, capping some that weren't needed (to help the pressure issues), and replacing two valves with inexpensive plastics ones. He explained everything that needed to be done and gave me some choices (mostly dealing with cost). It was a LOT of work, and I'm pleased to say my system works well. It wasn't cheap BUT it fell right at the upper end of the cost range I had hoped to spend, so I was satisfied both by his work and by the fairness of his prices. I plan to add a drip line with some plantings next year and I will absolutely have Stratton do it, which is (I think) the absolute best recommendation. read more
