Tofu salad from the cold bar
Dawn K.

Da Spot always hits The Spot for us. It's comfort food when we're in the mood for take out. But this is not your average take out. Every dish is exceptional! And they offer lots of different options. I love that they always have vegetarian and pescatarian dishes. Our go-to are the veggie curry and coconut fish plates. You order at the counter and get to pick an entree and a starch. The saffron rice is spot on! And the plate comes with a generous side of greens with your choice of their house-made dressings. You can also upgrade with salads from their cold bar. Speaking of cold bar, I usually grab a couple containers of salads for home lunches later in the week. I don't have to cook, and I like looking forward to what's in lunch bag. Plus it's all healthy eats so bonus that it's good for my body. Seriously you can't go wrong! Grab a couple sides while you're there. Prices are very reasonable and servings are generous. You always feel like you get your money's worth. And if you want something lighter, they make fresh and delicious smoothies. You can also eat there. They have a spacious area with abundant seating, so it's a great place for groups too. They do fabulous catering! We've enjoyed their food at several parties. Their catering menus are very extensive, so you can definitely find something for everyone in your Ohana. Vegan and gluten free options are available. They have set menus but can customize for your tastes and budget. Da Spot is a great neighborhood joint. Family-run and operated, so you're supporting small business. I'd highly recommend them for both take-out and catering. Try them out. You won't be disappointed!

Lemon Herb Coconut Chicken and Sauteed Spicy Garlic Chicken - mini plates

Broke da mouth, not da wallet at Da Spot! A mini plate with generous portions for $9! A steal!! A mini plate comes with two scoops of rice, salad and an entree. Probably had about 5 pieces of chicken thighs. Definitely filling, feels like a regular sized plate anywhere else. Affordable, helps out the university students in the area. Many entrees with proteins choosing from chicken, tofu, fish and lamb. The mango salad dressing is good. You could also ask for hot sauce. The plates, açaí bowls and smoothies are also good! Friendly staff, many table seating areas and live music every Wednesday. I always leave satisfied!

Da Spot is still doing its thing--and doing it well. Yes, prices have gone up a bit (the mini is now $9), but honestly? Still a steal for what you get. Fresh, healthy ingredients, generous portions, and food that's clearly made with care and packed with flavor. Nothing bland, nothing skimpy. There are great vegetarian options, and everything tastes clean, satisfying, and thoughtfully put together. Bonus points for their smoothies: delicious, refreshing, and surprisingly well priced--perfect alongside a meal or on their own. The vibe is casual and easygoing with an open-air setup, whether you're grabbing takeout or hanging out at a table. Top it all off with friendly staff who keep things welcoming, and Da Spot remains a feel-good favorite that's absolutely worth the visit.

My co-worker introduced me to Da Spot a year ago and I was sold after the first time! I had seen them before, but I was skeptical to try any of their food. But omg, their food is delicious! I usually go between either the Chicken Parmesan or the Teri Chicken. The mini is a lot and will feed me at least 2 meals. The saffron rice is so yummy. The only downside is the parking. I sometimes get lucky parking on the street, but I did also park at Longs across the street a few times. Service is excellent and quick. They do have tables that you can sit at, but I've always done takeout.

Good size portions at a really good price! I got their chicken curry plate lunch, it was full of flavor and super satisfying. You definitely get your money's worth here. I like that they had a decent amount of salad with my lunch. Rice was cooked good. Service was quick and friendly. I like that they had tons of tables and seating (went around 1:30pm). Will be coming back again for sure!

Heard about this place for a long time, finally get to try it tonight. They do not have a parking lot, finding street parking is not that easy. They do have some tables and chairs for you to enjoy your food. The service is good, pretty busy place for dinner, I guess it is popular for local people around this area. The portion of food is very generous. I ordered a regular for $13. I cannot finish half of my plate and I am a growth male. My wife noticed the portion is huge, she ordered a mini, and she cannot finish half of it too. My dinner included rice, salad and the main which is herb coconut chicken. 6 big pieces of chicken for $13 bucks! I do not think you can find this deal anywhere in Honolulu. The taste is not like out of the world but good enough for me. The seating area is spacious. I will come back to try other dish but my wife said not for her. I would recommend you to go check it out because of the great price and huge portion of food.

Just ordered a plate for take out and while I was eating I found a dead roach in my rice... I've been eating at da spot for over 9 years.. first time this has happened to me. Horrible experience. Definitely not eating here anymore

Great place with amazing prices. They have a lot of tables inside, in a pretty large space away from the street. Sadly, at the time I stopped in, they weren't making sandwiches but only mains. I tried the lemon herb chicken and my husband the Moroccan chicken. Super tasty, plus tasty rice with sauce. The smoothies are also very unusual and tasty flavors, like Haupia and kiwi, or berry with grape juice. People were super nice.

Still good food after all these years. You can get lamb shank if you're lucky and they are serving it. It does cost more but totally worth it! Service is quick and they answer your questions. I love getting the baklava. Parking is difficult but there is a designated lot and street parking. Good place for food for a decent price!

Great spot with plenty of entrée combos to choose from, which made it easy to find something for everyone. The Thai Chicken was absolutely amazing--full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and just the right amount of heat. Nice portions, fast service, and good value. Definitely coming back to try more!

Is it halal?

Yes

Aloha! Yes, we do have A Jazz Night on Thursday

Is there parking for this location?

They have parking, but most customers illegally park in front of the restaurant and even their delivery trucks do the same. It's a tow away zone, but they care less. He owns a lot of property and has a parking lot, but every day we who live…

What Delivery services do they use? I have tried DoorDash and UberEats during hours of service.

Bite Squad

Hi is all the meat that is served halal?

Not sure did not see a sign posted

Do they use nuts in most of the main dishes? I have a peanut/tree nut allergy. Coconut is okay though. :)

Not when I visited. They have a great variety of foods from all over the world. I have a nightshade allergy and I could choose from 2 entrees. They have salads of all sorts, too. All there food is pre-made so what they have is what they have.…

If we make a phone order or BiteSquad order to pick up are we allowed to park our car with the hazard on and run inside to grab the food?

Can at own risk... It's better to park across at long drugs and cross crosswalk only 2 to 5 minutes, or just pull to the free parking lot for Da Spot right around the corner.

We happened to stumble across Fancy Fresh Food Shop, and I figured this was the perfect opportunity to switch things up a bit. WHAT I SWALLOWED: *AVOCADO SMOOTHIE: Ohhhh, this was DELICIOUS! So creamy, smooth, and absolutely hit the spot! And can we talk about the presentation?! It came in an actual GLASS JAR. How fancy is THAT?! LOL! I loved the little touch, although we quickly realized that bringing a glass jar home in our luggage wasn't exactly practical. So sadly, our fancy little jar stayed behind at the hotel. At least the smoothie made it into my belly, and that's what really matters! The smoothie was rich, creamy, and refreshing, and honestly, a nice change from our daily shaved ice routine. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Hawaiian shaved ice, but sometimes a girl needs a little variety! Would definitely stop by again when that smoothie craving hits. That's the best smoothie deal you can get on island! The only thing is that parking can be tricky but they do have a small lot and there's street parking around.

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I drove past this familiar logo of HiBlend Health Bar & Cafe and had to stop by because it was in an unfamiliar location. This cafe used to be in the Samsung Plaza on Keeaumoku Street, but now it's on Kaheka Street, near Don Quijote. The address is King Street, but the entrance is on Kaheka Street. The menu is still healthy and has expanded. That's why I got the HI Burger. It was a local shortrib smashed beef patty with Jack cheese, tomato, bacon, and avocado on a brioche bun (from La Tour Bakery), topped with garlic aioli sauce... delicious! All ingredients are locally sourced (when possible)! Service was very friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and polite. Thanks for answering all of my questions! The only obstacle would be the parking. I sat inside (because it was air-conditioned) and I faced my car because I didn't feed the meter... LOL! I ate quickly because I was really hungry... and it was such a tasty, satisfying burger! Note: there are only two counter seats inside, and 12 seats outside on the sidewalk.

I noticed a QR code on the door for online ordering, scanned it, grabbed an outdoor table and figured I'd give that a try. I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Bacon sandwich, the Apple Pecan Salad with balsamic dressing, and a large cold brew. I paid online and sat outside for maybe 15-20 minutes. I never did figure out whether I was supposed to get a notification that my order was ready, so eventually I just went inside to check. Sure enough, it was ready. Easy enough, and everyone I interacted with was incredibly kind. Then I got home and opened everything, and THAT is when I became really impressed. I had included a note with my order that I planned to eat the salad the following day and asked that the wet ingredients be kept separate. They absolutely understood the assignment. Everything was packaged so thoughtfully. The Apple Pecan Salad was beautiful, incredibly fresh and substantial, with the ingredients carefully separated so it would keep. It wasn't some obligatory pile of greens tossed into a container. You could actually see the care that went into making it. The Smoked Salmon and Bacon sandwich was equally good. Fresh, generously filled and absolutely delicious. I ate half the sandwich and some of the salad and was completely satisfied. Between the two, I can easily get four meals out of what I ordered, which makes the value even better. And the cold brew? Wowzer. Robust and delicious! I think what impressed me most was simply the level of care. A sandwich and a salad aren't complicated foods, but doing simple food really well takes effort. Fresh produce, good ingredients, thoughtful preparation, paying attention to a customer's request, and putting out food that looks every bit as good as it tastes. I felt that in this order. I actually tipped 15% when I ordered because I was thinking, okay, this is basically grab-and-go. After I got home and ate the food, I wished I'd tipped 20%. It genuinely felt good spending my money here. This was visit number one, and they've already set the benchmark. I really hope they stay exactly like this, because what a find. I will absolutely be back.

Super late review -…read more I'm sad. I really wanted to love this place but I just couldn't. I don't want to be that person when this place has an overall rating of 4.5 but this is just my honest opinion. I got the blue dream and yes it was very ascetically pleasing, but it was just too icy. Before coming to this place i read a couple of reviews that also said the same thing and i didn't understand what that meant, but now I do. There are a lot of flavorless, just regular, small shards of ice in the bowl. On top of that, the moment I received my bowl, it was already borderline melted. So that got me thinking, how can it be melted and icy at the same time? The only explanation that I can think of is just ice additive/fillers. It's not pure cold acai or whatever is in the bowl you choose, but there's a mixture of ice in it too. Yes I understand, it's Waikiki, everything is more expensive, but the added topping prices on top of the already expensive bowl prices just don't make sense. You want a beautiful looking bowl with a lot of different toppings, yet some toppings can go up to 1 dollar PER topping. I don't know if I've just been spoiled by a couple places in SoCal, but at those places they have unlimited toppings and those bowls are the best that there is. I'm not bringing any bias from other locations, but this is just an honest review based on my experience today.

Such a great option to go to with kids too! My son loved the mango strawberry and I enjoyed the rose lychee. Thankfully, it was not too flowery but 75% was a little sweet for me. It feels clean and bright. It always seems crowded, though, so be prepared to possibly take it to go or find seating outside.

My favorite spot. I get the mango sticky rice dessert or the mango sticky rice drink (man-coco…read moresticky smoothie-o) . If i'm on the go the drink, if I eat there then the dessert. They will do takeout on the dessert, however it does not travel well. The ice cream melts, the frozen coconut cream thing melts and it becomes a big mess. They have an app and a loyalty program - use it and you can get some free stuff. The timing in the app isn't always right because sometimes it says ready in 20 minutes but it's in 5 and sometimes it's in like 30. I don't think they adjust the timing to reflect how busy they are inside; I wish they did. Small spot to sit down and eat there if you want and some outdoor tables. However the outdoor tables are considered takeout, so if you order desserts, it won't come on the plates, it will be boxed, and sometimes a mess when the ice cream parts melt and make the paper soggy. No bathrooms inside. They are friendly enough but they often feel like they don't really want to be there but they're cordial enough. I will keep coming back for the dessert anyway! They say they close at 9pm but they don't. The told me 8:45pm and if you come at 8:55pm they're basically shut down. Not a fan of this because if you really close at 8:45pm, then change your hours. Otherwise actually stay open til 9pm, which does mean workers have to stay later. In any case, I'm not a fan when there's this mismatch. On the other hand. The Alley says they're open til 9pm, and if you're at the door at 9pm, they'll let you in.
