This is my go-to spot any time Im starving. The portions are so large, i can share with my daughter AND still have leftovers for the next day. The covered indoor seating is perfect on a hot day. Lots of cool winds. They play good music as well. Plenty of seating and lots of space between tables so you dont have to hear others' conversations. I ordered the thai curry chicken, which is a mix of sweet and a faint hint of spice. Lots of veggies and no shortage of tender chicken. The sauce is perfection. I also hot the moroccan chicken, which is also on the sweet but savory side. It falls apart in your mouth. The combo comes with 2 choices, saffron rice (which is the star of the show) and a side salad. The ranch isnt great but its okay. Make you you add sauce from the chicken onto your rice. Makes it 10x better. Lastly, i got the Aloha Berry smoothie and added mango and bananas. It was delicious but the blackberries werent blended well so had a hard crunch but it was overall delicious. Been here a few times and surprised I haven't written a review. My island friends like it, but I find it to be equivalent to middle eastern cafeteria food. Not terrible, but nothing exciting either. The various chicken dishes are all great like the Moroccan, Egyptian, or Garlic Tomato or Lemon Chicken. They also have lamb shank which I tried in the past. It is good but also pricey. I have to say that the flavor soaked into the Moroccan Chicken more as I could taste it in the chicken, itself. When I ate the Coconut Lemon Chicken, it seemed like the the flavor came more from the sauce than being used infused into the chicken. Nonetheless, as I continued to eat the Coconut Lemon Chicken, the flavor began to intensify and became spicy; loved it! I also loved the Thai Chicken Curry; what's there not to like about the flavor of Thai food. Just found out that my son likes the food here. He said it's tasty. Mind you, he's picky about the food he eats. He usually just says, "It's okay" whenever we ask about the food when we go out to eat. So, for him to like the food, I think that's a "thumbs-up" . When it comes to food, and especially an acai bowl, Da Spot really gives you the most bang for your buck. I've recently been on acai bowl kick recently so I know how expensive they can be, ranging from $12-16 in a tiny bowl, but not here. It came loaded in what I think is a 24oz container. The only critique I'll give is that the acai itself is a little more icy and blueberry-forward than I'd like it, but honestly, I can't complain. For $8 and change (with tax) this is honestly the best deal I've seen and what's even better is that you can find it smack dab in the middle of town. I've found that parking across the street at Long's works well if you can't find street parking. Super impressed with this local business for its commitment to both quality and quantity! read more

Bf had the lamb which was really tasty!! I will order that next time. We also ordered a fish curry plate. The fish was tender and tasty. The curry was very flavorful and not spicy hot. They do change things up on a daily basis especially on their side items it's nice but not when you know what you want, and what's bad is that the staff has no idea what it even is or what's in it when asked about so you just risk hating it like I've have on a few occasions. When I first moved to Honolulu this place quickly became a favorite. At some point over the years I stopped going for no particular reason but recently went back to see what the options were. If you're not sure what you're craving, this is a great place to check out. They have a selection of hot meat and vegetarian dishes, lots of fish, with different sauces and preparations. You choose the size, starch, and side; prices are reasonable at around $10 per person. There are options to include more food for a fee. They also have a large cold counter with various salads like pasta, potato, mac, etc.; greens come with the plate but you can add on whatever you'd like for $5. They have drinks available, no alcohol is allowed from outside. They have a lot of partial indoor/outdoor seating, tables for 2 or 4 or more. The big area has space for live music and events, check their socials for details. It's on King Street near many other restaurants near the University Ave intersection. The counter is like Chinese take out all the food is in warmers and you choose what you want, glad it was labeled cause I've never been here. I choose 2 choice plate and had the Moroccan and coconut chicken with yellow rice. It came with a toss salad the salad dressing is amazing. I loved the Moroccan chicken the best, the flavor was so interesting and yet so delicious. The coconut was good too but not as soaked as the Moroccan. Ordered baklava for dessert it was okay. One top is the plates are huge so can feed 2 people, accept the salad is for one person. Now to the best part the food, what a flavor explosion! I got a regular plate with lemon coconut chicken and the wife got a mini plate with the Egyptian chicken curry. Both were full of flavor, just the right amount of spiciness, and with super tender chicken (no need for a knife). All plates come with a healthy serving of saffron rice and green salad. This time we had saffron rice, chicken long rice, huli huli bbq chicken, brisket, garlic shrimp, vegetarian curry, two types of salad, fruit salad, salsa with ulu and tortilla chips and haupia. This was only supposed to be for 35 people but holy smokes they have enough food for like 50+ people! You definitely get your monies worth ordering from them. They also delivered the food which was really nice so we just had to set it up when it arrived. My boyfriend was stationed in Hawaii for Navy orders (I visited at the end of his stay), and Da Spot was his go-to place for per diem meals. He went here probably 3+ times per week for the 6 week stay and couldn't find anything better in the area. I joined him when I visited, and encouraged him to ask them about buying a T shirt because he loved it so much. Da Spot has the best portion size to cost ratio...for example, for $16 they give you two scoops of rice with like 6-8 chicken thighs and side salad, etc. We once ordered the lamb shank which was the size of my forearm. We both lift, so we're always looking for protein heavy meals, so coming here was just the best post-workout plan. My boyfriend would house the whole meal; I would eat some of mine and then have the rest for lunch for the next day. Great flavors--we loved the Moroccan chicken, lamb, and so many other flavored main dishes. We want to recreate something like this where we're from because it was all so good. Absolutely cannot recommend the food at this location. The concept for plate lunch is great and affordable, but the food is not edible. They serve curries with fish, or veggies or chicken, and rice, and not chilled sides. The sides had sat in the cooler all day, and don't match the cuisine of the hot food. The chicken was pink inside when cut and the fish was clear when you cut into it -- which means it was not cooked. Curries are also quite spicy. They also serve smoothies and açaí bowls, leaving customers very confused with so many types of cuisines and objectives at one location. read more
