Food was delicious and staff were very friendly and kind. The best Chinese in the desert I my opinion! Personal favs orange peel chicken, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, and salt peppered prawn! DELICIOUS!!

The restaurant is located in a strip mall. We had a little trouble locating it because the DA part of the name is on the little chef character and not with the rest of the title of the restaurant which was cute. We were greeted immediately and seated in a booth. The menu is a big and completely laminated with pictures of the entrees. There were not many dine in customers but they were doing lots of takeout orders. The food I found was pretty good but what I really want it was a bowl of broth noodles, but it was a really hot day and I didn't think there was a good idea so we order Singapore rice noodles, and Mongolian beef, which turned out to be pretty good and if we ever in the area again, I would definitely come back.

I knew this spot was going to totally hit! Da Chef Noodle is serving up some authentic and special Chinese food, primarily known for their noodle soups. My only regret is having not tried this spot sooner but know that I know about it, I'll be coming here on the regular. This restaurant is a total mom and pop, local spot. No frills type of dining, just all about comfort foods and a relaxed causal atmosphere. Located near the freeway, it's easy to access and while part of a small shopping center they seemed to have plenty of parking. Signage was clear, this place was easy to spot. Once inside you'll notice is a cozy quiet spot. Old school decor and you're just coming here for the food vs the vibes. Staff was very nice and attentive. When I came in a young gentlemen was working the floor and take out orders. He pretty much covered the inside by himself but it was a quiet day, more to go orders then customers dining in like myself. I noticed inside they have a huge wall of pictures of some of their more popular menu items. Seems like primarily here they are known for their noodle soups and then more regular dishes like noodles, rice, some dim sum and classic Americanized Chinese dishes. I opted for the pork noodle soups (essentially like a wonton broth) but with noodles and pork. I also ordered their shumai which was a pork filling. The shumai were a 3.5. Not bad but average. I will say they were filled and large! So a good value. I just like more traditional dim sum like the kind I get back in LA but flavor wise it hit the spot. They have chili oil which made the dish. Without it they at least give you a light ponzu dumpling dipping sauce. The real star here was the noodle soup. The broth was light yet super flavorful. You can tell the soup simmers for hours as the depth and flavors were divine. Noodles were soft and cooked perfectly. The pork was just ok - probably next time would opt for their beef noodle soup. Despite the pork being average I'd still give the soup 5 stars as it was just so flavorful, comforting and exactly what I wanted. Prices were also very reasonable. Under $25 for a large bowl of soup and a massive order of shumai plus a soda. A great value for a sit down restaurant. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this spot in the desert and love the old school vibes of this place. Definitely coming back and happy to now know about this great local business.

Pleasantly Surprised--Definitely Worth a Visit and added to my favorites on the area! I noticed some low reviews / hate on Yelp and almost skipped this place, but digging a little deeper I realized many of the 1-star reviews came from users with no photos, few friends, and only a handful of reviews--which often says more about the reviewer than the restaurant. So I gave it a try, and I'm glad I did. Da Chef has a quaint, mom-and-pop vibe that worked nice for me. The space was clean, the booth was comfortable, and my server was kind and attentive. The menu is a unique blend of Chinese/Cantonese and dim sum with a few Korean and Thai-influenced dishes sprinkled in. The menu and the walls are full of photos, which definitely tempted me to over-order--with to-go boxes in mind, of course. The braised beef noodle soup was decent, with a good amount of beef and a nice flavor with some cabbage, but a bit heavier on noodles than I expected and the broth leaned bland but it still worked, but I'd probably explore a different soup next time. The spicy cold noodles were a total win--super flavorful with green onions, cilantro, and fresh peanuts in a mild red pepper and peanut oil base. Would absolutely order again. The mushu pork was another standout--rich flavor with a hint of fresh ginger in a few bites. Loved it. For the quality and quantity, the prices were very reasonable. I'll definitely return. If you're in the area, it's worth adding to your list.

AWESOME ARRAY OF CHINESE FOOD!

I was in Palm Desert this past weekend to celebrate Mothers Day with my lovely 94 year old mom. Ended coming to Da Chef Noodle just before the drive back to LA. My friend and I decided to get some 'non-chain' Chinese food before getting on the freeway. The restaurant was perfect in so many ways. We were immediately greeted by a lovely,, bright and helpful woman who was to be our server as well. Our meal included: orange chicken, kung pao chicken and spring rolls. All of the food was fresh and steaming hot when served. We will be back!

Flavorless wor won ton soup Where are the wontons or the vegetables ?

I saw all the 5 star reviews and looked at the menu. The Coachella/ Pass area has zero great American Chinese restaurants, ( most all are Thai) When I walked in the air smelled of spicy curry. I thought oh this will be good. I was promptly seated but no real welcome. Looked at the menu where soups appeared to be the big seller I ordered a wor Wonton soup General tsao chicken , egg rolls They served the food out of order with egg rolls last ?? I wanted this to be epic. What I got was flavorless broth with shredded onion rubbery pork slices 4 wontons and zero garlic / ginger/ bok choy taste. The chicken was deep fried and covered in sweet sauce. Kind of like Panda Express without flavor. It wasn't the pan fried burnt taste chili infused chicken that generally is the General T chicken and I kid you not 1 small crown of broccoli. Egg rolls came 1/2 way during the meal. Tasteless. They forgot my soda. Wasn't busy so I ate what I could and left disappointed. My only guess from the 5 stars is that the desert has lulled people into numbness. I won't be back. Lunch for 1 35.00.

Shrimp Fried Rice with BBQ Pork Pineapple Cilantro

3/5 stars. The service was good and quick to get food. The best dish had to be the spicy chicken! Tasted authentic and it was $5!! Was a chef special. The wonton soup tasted bland like vegetable water. Pineapple fried rice was pretty good. Had the flavor of Singapore noodles. The chicken wings were dry and too much batter.

However, I always drive by China Wok in Palm Desert so I thought I'd give them a try. They charge a fee of $1.90 just use the app. And didn't tell you in advance. I will be going there again, but I will just call in my order.

But the food makes up for it. The pineapple fried rice is as good as it gets. Best of all, it's served inside a carved-out halved real pineapple -- great for presentation and flavor! The sweet and sour pork is prepared perfectly and the sauce is just how it should be. Another hit is the string bean chicken. The beans are perfectly cooked -- not mushy but crispy and the sauce if flavorful. The chicken is cooked to perfection. We have more to explore here and will keep coming back. Only downside foodwise was a ho-hum wonton soup. We ordered a full bowl and sadly only got two mediocre wontons. Only two! And the broth is overloaded with cabbage. If it were "cabbage soup" it would've made sense. The other dishes still make up for it and earn this gem a full five stars.
