Then, we went back near the end of our trip to get a few more! They were sold out, but there's a number to call and the baker's husband brought out a few piping hot loaves of bread. Wow!!! It's even more amazing when it's hot. I do a lot of baking and I make a lot of banana muffins, and even I'm impressed with Jeanette's skill. She had just baked some loaves and he was setting them out for sale. We both agreed it was the best banana bread we had ever tasted - and my wife bakes great banana bread herself. We loved both! What surprised me most was how well these two flavors worked together. When you mix the lavender ice cream with the Kona coffee, the taste comes very close to the lavender coffee flavor which I, personally, enjoy a lot. I know it's not for everyone, but if you like it, this combination is amazing! Honestly, there were so many other flavors I wanted to try but since I was the only one getting ice cream and we were planning to have dinner, I limited myself to two. As we were visiting the various coffee farms around Kona, we learned that the "Cream of the Crop" coffee competition had just taken place the day before. Rob and Lori were very friendly at their busy booth and offered us samples of their different cheesecakes. For my coffee on this morning I chose from their spring menu and went with the Blue Buoy latte, which was described as an iced brown sugar latte with house made blueberry vanilla cold foam. Once I got back in the car I gave it a try. It was pretty solid overall. The coffee was bold and strong, though a little bitter. I did not notice much of the brown sugar, but the blueberry vanilla cold foam was the standout. It was thick and creamy with a blueberry flavor that lingered nicely. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed my coffee and would be interested in trying more of their flavors.
