Best Chantilly cake ever, very moist and the right amount of sweetness. The workers are very kind! I heard they make the cakes for all the businesses in the area. The other pastries are good also had the biggest apple fritter in the world and their panko mayo chicken was awesome.they do close early so make plans to visit them. read more

During our vacation to the Big Island my son wanted to try malasadas and we drove to this bakery located in this cute little town. The spam musubi was delicious and so were the sweet rice cakes that were fried. I am probably misspelling the delicious desserts but it is worth the drive to eat these delicious snacks. read more

I passed this place hundreds of times before I even noticed it. Once I noticed it I passed another dozen times before I had the presence of mine to stop. This place is super cool, a hidden gem. Classic Hawaiian Asian food, I got an entire Bento box with fish, shrimp, spam, sliced beef, sausage and rice for less than the price of a big Mac. It is my first time visit to this bakery which is next to the old Oshima general store (but now a Oshima Surf shoppe). I was waiting for my wife, who was shopping across the street and spotted a few local customers entered the shop and come out with food. Unfortunately, it was about 1245hr so it was closing for the day. Almost every Bento boxes and fresh pastries were gone but I picked up their "Anpan" original baked good. Soft, tasty Asian buns with red bean paste. Not too sweet but awfully tasty. The folks behind the counter were very nice. A cup of their Kona coffee along with my Anpan treat had me on my way back yo Kailua...until the next time. Will make sure I add this bakery in my contact list and come earlier. read more

We had scheduled a coffee tour 'down the street'. Stopped in town for lunch at another place, but it was closed. Stopped in the town thrift shop and was sent to standard bakery. Nice little takeaway lunch (This is a to-go place only.) Bought a small half coconut pie to take with us. Everything was delicious. No place to sit indoors and there are no benches in town. We sat on a stone wall across the street. Piece of advice: Cross in the crosswalks! And use the flags! Traffic is brisk! read more

This place is amazing! Brought my husband here on the end of our trip to try a malasada. So glad we found this place! I wish we found it sooner. I normally don't like malasadas because they can be greasy and upset my stomach. These are not greasy and our favorite was the lilikoi cream. The custard was light and perfect. We came back again today for lunch and lunch was amazing too. We had Korean chicken and a chicken sandwich. Fingers crossed we can wake up early enough to have it one more time before our flight. Oh yeah you can not beat the prices! Musubi's are good too. read more

I didn't notice this bakery while driving through town, but I did notice its listing on Google Maps. I decided the place needed to be investigated in person the next day. I was there right after noon on a Thursday, and their stock was well picked over. I bought the last pack of an-pan while my husband chose an apple turnover. The an-pan was delicious, and included two rolls in the bag. The bread was soft and tender, and the red bean paste had just the right sweetness. The little apple pie was much enjoyed by my husband. The crust had a high butter content and a different texture than many hand pies, but it worked quite well. read more

This very small and local bakery has the nicest staff. We went in with a crowd and bought donuts (there wasn't much else on display). We liked the small but varied selection and my maple pecan custard filled donut was delicious! We also got the spam musubi there and it was a delicious snack for the park! Like Kona Chips, this is a Kona-business that's unique and purely local, although they have a wide range of commercial bakery items and can be found throughout Kona at many snack shops and eateries. We saw some of their baked goods at Da Poke Shack. But this is the place where they make them and they also stock daily donuts and pastries along with bento boxes in the morning. Many locals stop by on their way to work to pick up things so they usually run out of some items by mid day. Perfect rest stop on the way to Volcano or the Refuge site. read more
