This place sucks. Used to be decent but the product has fallen off tremendously. Don't waste your money.

Ask the Community - Mac Pie

Does Mac Pie still exist? Their website doesn't seem to be functioning.

They're no longer sold at the farmers market or Costco but you can buy in the coffee shop at the Kona Marketplace south of the Donkey Balls place.

There is parking and there are plenty of tables to sit & enjoy. There are signs indicating where the food court area is located. It is nice and ample to eat your Malasada or donut. This spot is located in a food court area and was actually the only place open when we arrived. Since it is a stall, there is not too much to say other than there were two people working and a large display case filled with donuts, with malasadas in the back. After looking things over I asked if they had a lilikoi circle donut. They did not, but they recommended a strawberry glazed donut with lilikoi filling and I went with that. It came out nicely decorated with a pink glaze and a small dab of cream on top with a butterfly. When I bit into it I was happy with the flavor. The donut itself was light and fluffy and the strawberry glaze was solid. The real standout though was the lilikoi filling, which had that great balance of sharpness and sweetness and paired really well with the donut. My dad ordered a coconut malasada and said it was really good as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. They had a big selection of donuts, I enjoyed mine, and I would like to try their malasadas next time.

Great Kona coffee in a wonderful casual atmosphere!…read more I had to meet up/interview a potential Big Island candidate in Kailua-Kona and I was basically looking for a casual place where I could meet, enjoy a drink, and have a little bit of conversation. Kona Coffee & Tea was the place of choice here in Kailua-Kona. Located at the Kona Coast Shopping Center, you can find this little coffee shop just next door from KFC. The coffee shop is easy to find, as other business surrounding this business is the KTA Superstore, Hele Gas Station, HFS Federal Credit Union, O'Reilly Auto Parts, as well as many numerous eateries. It was late in the afternoon, so I basically came here for some drinks. I had to try their Kona Coffee, and I must say it did not disappoint! The coffee shop has indoor, as well as covered outdoor seating. The shop does sell some food items, but I did not partake or looked at what they had to offer. There was also coffee shop merchandise, but I did not have time to take a look at what they had to offer. Overall, as great coffee shop and if I'm in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stop by for their wonderful coffee.

Unless you're a coffee connoisseur, you may want to skip the pour over for something a bit less special to save yourself a few dollars. The coffee was fine, but my unrefined palette was not able to fully appreciate the cup of brew. In terms of atmosphere, Kona Coffee & Tea has plenty of seating outdoors around the porch and a few high tables indoor, where they have AC blasting at full strength. They have free Wi-Fi available as well, so I saw a lot of people posting up on their laptops. Parking is plentiful and easy to find since this coffee spot is located in a strip mall. If you have a discerning palette for the subtle flavors that show up in different coffee beans, you will definitely want to stop by for a cup.

We saw that Herbivores was about to close, but the kids really had their hearts set on it. I hesitated to call because I never like arriving right at closing, but I'm so glad I did. When I called, they were incredibly kind and welcoming and told us to come on over, no problem. That simple moment completely changed our night. We rushed from the airport, and when we arrived, Chef Jeffrey and Shawn took such amazing care of us. The food came out quickly, which mattered so much with hungry kids, and everything was absolutely delicious. The Big Mac style burgers and loco moco were exactly what we needed after such a long journey. What truly stood out was the kindness. After our meal, they surprised the kids with free soft serve, and it honestly meant so much. After such a long and tiring day, they did not just serve us dinner, they made us feel welcome, cared for, and part of their ohana. That level of hospitality is something special. You can feel the heart behind this place. If you are on the Kona side and looking for incredible vegan food and genuinely kind people, this is a must visit. We will absolutely be back. Despite everything, he was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely funny. You could tell he really cared about making sure everyone still had a great experience, even under stressful circumstances. It honestly made the whole visit feel extra special. The food was amazing. We had the Big Moke and the burrito, and both were so good. We ended up coming back again later in our trip because we loved it so much. The second time, we got the Caesar salad (which was delicious, though we did feel the extra charge for additional sauce was a bit high), along with the burger again and a smoothie. Overall, such a great experience--amazing vegan food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a chef who truly goes above and beyond. We'll definitely be back!

Their customer service reply really made up for the previous experience with their staff and they ensured me they would address the issue with their team. :) Old review: I visited the Gypsea Gelato in Kona today and was extremely disappointed with the service. I ordered a single scoop child's cone and was told "We only have our Ube waffle cones, we are out of the rest... but don't worry they don't really taste like ube". I said ok, that should be fine since my daughter wants a cone. When I get to the register, after they had already filled her cone, I was told the price was $8.50 for the child's size ice cream and charged an additional $3 for their "specialty cone". Prior to choosing the cone, I was not told anything about it costing $3 additional dollars. Nor that a kids size scoop for that cone would be $8.50 when it should usually be $4.99. So I paid $11.50 for a child's ice cream. When I brought my concern up to the 3 teenagers working there, they all made me feel as though I was in the wrong for not knowing my child's cone would be $11.50. One of the staff checked to see if there was a price on the front of the sample cone thinking she could rub that in my face but there was no price shared. So, I had literally no way of knowing how much I would end up paying until it was too late and no apology or kindness was shown whatsoever. Another staff member said "we aren't in charge of what they give us"... and to that I say, that doesn't absolve you from sharing the price of this speciality option -which again, was the only cone option offered. Had I known I would be paying $11.50 for a child's cone, we would have happily ordered the $4.99 cup. I'd appreciate if the manager would get in touch with me -not so much for the outrageous cost but more for the fact that their staff provided such poor service in not sharing the price, and not trying to kindly resolve the issue.
