banana bread
Haley C.

lele's is my new go-to for baked goods on the Big Island. I was suggested to try this place by one of the locals and I was so pleased with my experience! not only are the staff friendly, but the food is amazing !! the banana bread was the perfect level of no-too-sweet and the ham quiche (not pictured because I devoured too quickly) was unlike any quiche i tried before. seriously, it was dense, but fluffy, and so buttery good! would absolutely need to come here again, and I was shocked at why it isnt busier!

I almost want to gatekeep this place but it was so busy I'm sure people know about it already! Dropped by on a late Saturday morning, small line inside but by the time we moved up the line was out the door. Everything we tried was delicious! Staff were also so friendly and welcoming. There are a handful of tables and seats inside if you'd like to enjoy food there. Definitely recommend the cinnamon rolls, you won't regret it.

Mango Pineapple Bun and Ube Cinnamon Roll

My husband and I shared: - Egg Bun - Ube Cinnamon Roll - Mango Pineapple Bun The egg bun and mango pineapple bun were both good, but the bread was a little bland. The star of the show was the Ube Cinnamon Roll. It's one of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. I hate dry cinnamon rolls and this one was nice and gooey. It had a ton of cinnamon and a ton of ube frosting. I wish we had gotten there earlier to try the donuts and malasads, but they were sold out. I'd definitely come back to try more.

Quik friendly smiling service. Busy establishments at 1030am. New business but the word is out about their pastries. Ordered: Italian focaccia bun- hmm Yumm! Blueberry Lilikoi cream bun Strawberry cream bun All items ordered savory n filling. Stop by and try anything. Place had a quiet relaxing feel.

Had a great variety of spreads here! Great for a quick snack or even lunch after the beach! Decent seating for a group of friends. Came here trying a bunch of goodies and loved each one uniquely. Glad I got to stop by this spot with friends and I will definitely come back! The only downside was definitely pricing on drinks for a small size which made me just stick to drinking water. Other than that definitely try the baked potato dish, super good to try with bagel, any bread or just alone! Service was great as well workers were nice! This place is very aesthetic!

I had their Italian sandwich special today and I literally almost cried because it was so delicious. It had pesto, mozzarella, and other good stuff on their focaccia bread. Do not sleep on this, I hope they have it all the time. Their potato salad, top notch! Please have this all the time .

Mac nut roll. One of the best things I've ever eaten.

This place is amazing! Literally the best cinnamon roll (Mac nut roll) we've ever had. The entire thing was moist and delicious. We went 4x while we were on the island and tried a lot of different stuff (all of it very good). The staff were awesome too. Don't miss this one.

The baked goods are SO good. The service is super friendly and fast. The latte is really good and their syrups are all made in house. Their prices I believe are on the higher end for baked goods, but they were delicious.

Wow another 5 star spot in Kona! I am blown away by the ube cinnamon roll and I've crinkle cookie. The vibe of this bakery is cozy and plenty of space to sit and enjoy your treat! So happy we were able to grab some items since they had a busy morning, came in about 11:30am and over half of everything was sold out!

Where do I start?! Lele's bakery has been one of the best bakeries I have visited so far. The selection is small kine limited but the quality and flavor make up for that. Personally, I love the vibes and color scheme of the bakery. Super cute seating areas and such. My friends and I went a little after opening and everything was fresh! I recommend going early, I not sure if they restock throughout the day. I got the breakfast sandwich with fluffy egg, spinach, tomato, & cheese on a warm brioche bun. The egg was super moist and fluffy! I also got the mac nut honey cinnamon bun and oh my freaking gosh. It was sooooooo ono. Employees were super nice and it was easy to order. I believe it is a small business so always super nice to be supporting local. I highly recommend stopping by Lele's if you ever stay Kona side.

Kona finally has a great bakery! I just left the opening of this wonderful little bakery. They have been around for two years selling at the local farmer's markets, but just now opened their own shop. Which is great for us that don't want to wait until Saturday to get our fix. They make the absolute best Ube cookies anywhere on the island. I also love their scones, apple fritters, and quiche. My friends from New York claim the bagels here are just as good as their home town. I am so thrilled that they are nearby and open nearly every day. Oh and the owners told me that they will be a full cafe in a couple of Months with sandwiches and other more substantial foods. I am looking forward to seeing how it evolves. And for now I am very happy with the baked goods.

Another hidden gem. Above the airport in the industrial area. Everything looks delicious. I got an Asiago bagel with cream cheese. It was fantastic. Gonna try the donuts next time.

We returned to the bakery 3x while we were on the Big Island. Everything we tasted was fresh and full of flavor.

It's a strong espresso flavor but the Ube isn't overpowering but adds a nice sweetness. But if you do prefer a stronger Ube taste then this one is light, but I don't mind since Ube usually isn't strong. Love the open air cafe and the day we went there was live music too. The area it's located in is nice as well with a lot of other local restaurants surrounding it. All in all, would recommend whenever in Kona!

I just spent $20 on 2 drinks along w/ a hat so nearly $60 total because I wanted to support. I went to the captain cook location & my drinks were made perfectly. I ordered an ube white mocha QUARTER sweet but it was way too sweet for my liking. I wasn't able to enjoy it so to make things easier, I asked for an added shot instead of inconveniencing them to completely remake. The girl had no smile & told me to wait in line to talk to the cashier. So I waited. The sweet gentleman had no problem adding a shot but after going behind the bar, the snotty girls must've told him to charge me. He came back saying I need to pay for the shot. I just wanted it less sweet. I confirmed that I asked for 1/4 sweet correct? He confirmed & I said I ordered this yesterday and it didn't taste like this. He sweetly said, would you like me to remake? I said, sure. When it came out, they completely omitted the sweet cream on top but it did taste better than the first drink, just missing the sweet cream. I've been in the service industry 25+ years, they lack the warmth I experienced at the captain cook location. By the way, CC was also a lot cleaner, not sure if it's newer. Would I come back and give them another chance? Sure, hoping their service improves.

There are so many yummy things on the menu that it was so hard to decide, but I decided on a crunch wrap and my husband ordered a burger. First off, I love how the restaurant is set up with almost food-truck atmosphere and outdoor seating. That's so perfect for such a wonderful area and beautiful weather. The two employees working, which I believe are the owners, were super nice and genuinely happy to help us. I ended up asking a few more questions while we waited for our food, and they were very helpful. Due to their input, I ended up also getting a cheesecake slice (yum) and dole whip (for the first time, and holy *!+$! it was sooo good I've been dreaming about it since!). Our food was available pretty quickly, and it looked amazing! My husband greatly enjoyed his burger, which is saying something since he's all about veggie burgers now (recent convert to vegetarian, so still extremely discerning). My crunch wrap was AMAZING! Everything about it was so good. The dipping sauce was fantastic, and I would have that for virtually every meal if I could. The crunch wrap was perfectly hot and full of all sorts of yummy! The tortilla was toasted well and wasn't just a boring white tortilla: I'm pretty sure it was a wheat tortilla with a great flavor. I wish I lived closer. I'd be here all the time. Until then, I'll wear my merch with pride and continue dreaming about dole whip and crunch wraps!

Kona sunset drink - 4/5 - very pretty drink and not too sweet Cashew cheesecake - 3/5 - super dense dessert. Also not too sweet but had kind of a weird cashew flavor to it. Not sure what it is, but overall, not bad!

Note: The food court mall was a little off the beaten path, behind a gas station. It's an open air seating and houses a number of local establishments that seem more catered to locals than tourists. There is ample seating, and restrooms are available. The only bad part about it is it can get a bit hot and stuffy in there, but at least they had big fans blowing. The chicken karaage (family size) was oh so good - very fresh, big pieces, and a yummy taste! Everything was fried fresh to order. Found it sweet that a haole woman who spoke fluent Japanese seemed to be training a younger Japanese gentleman who didn't speak much English. Wished we were staying on the island longer as we'd love to come back to try other menu items!

Hesitation was instilled once I realized it was part of a random food court kind of in the middle of nowhere but did not count it out completely. 3. Disregarded as there seemed to be potentially better options out there for our meal choices. 4. Enjoy our other meal option. 5. Per chance, happen to swing by this food court per request of a family member in hopes of grabbing some Malasadas in the bakery nearby afterwards. 6. Realizing that we stumbled into the food court anyways, it was fated that we were meant to proceed with placing an order for some chicken. 7. After a short wait for food to be prepared, I'd confirm that the fried chicken is solid, tater tots were good as well, and the mac salad was just okay.
