Best Hawaiian Chicken Katsu in Vegas!!! I've tried at least two other places so far, and Da Braddahs Grindz definitely wins. Their chicken katsu is crispy and tender, and the breading/meat ratio is good as well. I also like how they thinly slice the pieces. The rice and mac salad were solid as well. It's a heavy plate for only $18 after tax; you can get two meals out of this. I'll definitely make the trip back up here from Henderson if I have a craving. This place has been on the radar for awhile. Some good IG reels etc. now I don't normally go in for gas station food, maybe it's because of what I have seen and had to regulate on the east coast. But Vegas is different in many ways especially in the food universe. Restaurants are EVERYWHERE. Tucked into places you wouldn't believe or expect . When I moved here years ago, I seriously thought nobody had kitchens in their houses or apartments. But a well run convenience store with of course the obligatory slot machines is a perfect environment for a small take out place. Probably a good amount of steady foot traffic, many items besides the proverbial quart of milk and energy drink etc. Anyway, Stopped in and ordered the chicken katsu plate . (A katsu, chicken or pork is typically a deep fried breaded cutlet of many degrees of quality if you will, could be grown chicken or pork, or an actual whole pork chop or chicken breast). The chicken katsu (actually two to the order) were thin, well breaded and deep fried perfectly. I think they were prepared previously and just refried to order. The katsu's were sliced into strips and served on a bed of cabbage along with two good sized scoops of white rice and one of macaroni salad. Ample condiments were provided as well as were about five napkins and a disposable fork. The quantity of food could feed 2 easily and maybe a third. The cutlets were tasty, not oily from the refrying. Sliced thinly. The rice was cooked well, just a tiny bit sticky . The macaroni salad was good really mayonnaisey though. Generous portions with a reasonable amount of fish, furikake, sauce, etc. As you can see from the container, it's def a perfect size to enjoy with your family and friends! Ordered a Teriyaki chicken and a loco moco. It was about a 15 minute wait. It is located inside a gas station but there is seating inside. The loco moco was not good at all. The meat was way over cooked and hard. I ordered it with over easy eggs and they came out like a mix between over hard and medium. The gravy had minimal flavor but I liked that it wasn't overly salty like other gravies that I've had. It also came with macaroni salad and that was really good as someone who isn't a fan of mac salad. The teriyaki chicken was much better than the loco moco. Was soooo lucky that they had Tasty Tuesday at the lawn in the Hotel we were staying at (The Outrigger) we got to try some or the food trucks there and by far this was my favorite meal. I tried their food truck first some time last month and their garlic shrimp, beef teriyaki, furikake chicken, Korean friend chicken all SMACKS--in other words, it's superb. Then a few weeks later I drove from the southwest (please expand down here in the future) up to their spot in the NW inside the gas station and once again, those same proteins and poke nachos all SMACKS. Then I went to Oahu for a week and all I could think about when eating on the island was comparing it to Da Braddahs Grindz and how much better this place is than anywhere I tried from the North Shore down to Waikiki. Yum. The beef teriyaki is fire. We ordered two large plates with three meats each. My husband got the garlic shrimp, beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki. I got the chicken katsu, beef teriyaki and Korean chicken. We both agree that the beef teriyaki was the best. The katsu chicken was our least favorite. It was def on the drier side and failed in comparison to the other katsu chicken dishes available in the valley. Portions are absolutely massive. We could have shared one plate but instead each had our individual plates for three meals each. The portions are that huge. It's 930am and the filipino in me is in the mood for something with rice instead of breakfast lol I'm not gonna lie, the gas station is a little off putting. Sticky fly traps hanging, it just seems a little dingy in there so I'd order to go vs eat there. But with that being said, the food is SO good. The garlic shrimp is the best I've tried from a restaurant here in Vegas and the garlic chicken is super yummy. *This review is for the food truck, not the restaurant.      I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, and they just happened to be at a farmer's market, not too far from where we were staying.  You see so many videos on tiktok and IG that I wasn't prepared to order.  There wasn't a crazy line yet, and I was greeted and helped right away.     I ordered: 1.  Mini kanak (garlic shrimp & coconut shrimp) - both were really good.  Shrimps were cooked perfectly and not chewy and overcooked.  Mac salad was tasty as well. 2.  Chicken teriyaki cooked perfectly, and it wasn't overly seasoned or anything.  A classic staple done right.      I really wanted to go back and try more, but after eating that with my husband, we were ready to take a nap or a walk just to help burn some calories. Tried the food truck at the pure aloha festival today. $15 for a spicy ahi bowl in a small disposable food tray. $18 for a coconut shrimp plate. Nearly $40 for these two items and ahh was not worth it. The coconut shrimp was the only good thing. Rice was small kine mushy, and the poke...was a let down. It was warm and smelt fishy. Normal poke does not smell fishy or taste like that. And it was just too much sauce for a cover up. No good sadly, had to throw it away. Also when I asked for a takeout container at the pick up window, brother said no he cannot give me one..BUT the 2 customers before me who asked for container to put their food items inside for take away was given no problem. How come like dat? It was extremely dusty to walk around with your poke all out in the open..but I guess it didn't matter. Was junks anyways. Service was just okay, no smiles or alohas. When you're paying the kind of money for the food that they are charging, I would expect better packaging. I ordered the teriyaki burger and fries. The burger itself was pretty decent, but why on earth would you put the fries in the same package?? Nothing but a soggy mess!!! I love crispy fries but do not expect them from this place! Why can't they serve them separately from the hamburger?? The other turn off is the lettuce. Who wants soggy lettuce with the burger?? Why include it if it's not edible?? I got rid of it immediately!! Otherwise it was a good burger. The fries would have been enjoyable if they weren't so soggy! Looking for Hawaiian restaurants in Northwest Las Vegas, Da Braddah's Grindz was one of the restaurants that popped up on the Yelp search! This is one of the newer restaurants that recently opened up. It's located inside the Sinclair Gas Station and it does have limited seating. My husband and I ended up taking our order to go. We didn't know the hours for this restaurant and ended up calling before going. Da Braddah's Grindz offers all day breakfast options, plate lunches and regular orders like Korean Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, Furikake Chicken, Teriyaki Beef, Kalbi Ribs, and so much more! We ended up getting a [3] meat plate with chicken teriyaki, beef, and the kalua pork with mac salad and rice. Kalua pork is one of my favorite dishes, but unfortunately, It was just okay. It didn't have too much flavor. The chicken teriyaki was delicious though! The chicken was super tender and the sauce was so flavorful! My husband enjoyed the beef. There wasn't much rice in the to-go box. There was, however, a lot of mac salad though! The price wasn't too expensive for the food! Amazing bulgogi fries! Personally the bulgogi fries are my favorite dish they offer. Personally I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken. But I definitely want to try their Kalbi next time.
