My son and I ate here a few weeks ago while camping across the lake. We were looking for a fish fry and I saw this as a recommendation. This is definitely a place where the employees and the locals have a good time and joke around, and sometimes if you are not a local, you don't receive the same level of attention. For the most part, refills of the AYCE fish were pretty quick. The fish was crispy and delicious, and the price was very reasonable. The only complaint was that there was mention on other sources (maybe outdated) about what was included. As of June 2026, the fish is AYCE, the sidewinders (fries) are not. A divey bar and cozy restaurant Lake Mille Lacs. The restaurant was clean and packed with people on a Friday night. We got there around 7pm and got one of the last tables. I ordered the unlimited fish fry and got the last serving around 8 PM. Not sure if I loved the fish (not realizing it was not walleye) but the breading was OK. I loved the fries that they called "swindlers". It was a steal for $14. I also ordered a side salad that I was impressed by the lettuce being more of a mixed green rather than iceberg. We were there when they were doing charity raffles for meat and other prizes. It was a fun atmosphere. The hubby really enjoyed his Buffalo boneless wings that were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The sauce was not too spicy for him. After reading the reviews, we decided to try this place. I got the Walleye sandwich and it was delicious. The issue we ran into was, we wanted to sit on the patio because it's a beautiful Minnesota evening. Right as we received our food, a few ladies who I believe to be employees, sat down up wind of us and started smoking. One even mentioned that they were not supposed to be smoking out there. First time here! We decided to get off Hwy 169 and take the roads on the backside of Mille Lacs. We were able to get a table by the window for a view of the lake. We started off with a cold draft beer; J had a Blue Moon with an orange slice and I had a Michelob Light. They have a nice variety of menu items, with items you don't normally see like Walleye fingers, walleye sandwich and walleye dinner. But we came for the burgers. I ordered a thick bacon cheeseburger with Gouda. That is right, how many times do you see Gouda as an option. J ordered the Sweet Onion patty melt. The burgers come with kettle chips but we opted for a basket of fries with seasoned sour cream. These are the best burgers! Freshly made, not frozen burgers. And nice size patties. As the pictures shows, I ordered mine medium and that is what I got. J ordered his medium rare and that is what he got. I love my French fries to be crispy and these fit the bill. I highly recommend stopping and eating at Da Boathouse. We had way more food than we could eat so we asked for carry out boxes. This will not affect the star rating but I wish my carry out boxes were not plastic. The service was excellent! We will definitely be coming back. read more

Great family dinner at Da Boathouse! We ended up there on a whim after legit waiting half an hour at another restaurant for a waitress with four tables to acknowledge us and then tell us they were all out of broasted chicken...I won't name names...but I'm sure my uncle will! So! We had a great time. The server was the friendliest person. She had such a great attitude and was really great with the family antics. The menu has a fair amount to choose from and someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing. Not your normal 'small town' selections. I had (when in Rome) Walleye. Came with green beans (superb) choice of potato (mashed, pretty good a little dry) and lemon caper sauce (excellent) We also shared a pizza with was super hot and tasty. I'm going to be missing it. I don't get up to Isle very much in my adulthood, but next time I make the trip I will be dining at Da Boathouse read more

Why don't Lake Milacs businesses want to make money? It's 4th of July week, sat on the patio, we had to go inside to get our drinks, you will only serve a limited menu on the patio, but full menu 5 feet away indoors? Ridiculous. Refreshing bit of good food in an area not known for good food. I've eaten here several times, as I have a cabin in the area. My go to is the Boathouse Club. Really good sauce, quality slices of bacon between marbled rye with cold cuts - it's a hot sandwich. They have very good pasta dishes. My wife's favorite is the Tri Colored pasta. I took a bite, very good. Portions were good. Service was very good - same courteous fella behind the bar. The only negative I offer is they have a large Jinga style game for customers to play that is deafening and shocking when it falls over. I hate it. It forces me right out the door. Da Boathouse and Appledorns are my favorite restaurants in the area. Both are on the water. read more

This place used to be Buzzie's but is now under new ownership hence the name change to Da Boathouse. The new menu has some interesting offerings but is overpriced given the mediocre quality of the food and rather small portions. The waitstaff was friendly. The waitress did, however, bring out an overdone order of cheese curds but they were exchanged without hassle. The main reason for the two star review was pricing. Everything is à la carte... the expensive burgers don't come with fries which is a big shortcoming in my book. read more

Please note that this is now called Da Boathouse. We were looking for a restaurant that could take a large party at the last minute. Da Boathouse was near our resort so we gave it a try. The salad bar was fresh and the salad dressings tasted like they were house made. They also had home baked buns that were delicious. For our entrées we had a variety of opinions. I thought the walleye was great and my husband enjoyed the special (Prime rib). One family member had a chicken dish and was not as impressed. The tab was a little high but overall the food quality was good. Also, the kids liked the pool table, which kept them entertained when the adults relaxed. read more

We were greeted with a bitchy waitress who seemed to either hate her job, or hate people. She was impolite and made rude comments regarding our complaints about the food, which was just as terrible. The Alfredo sauce tasted like a failed homemade attempt and the shrimp still had the tails on them, even though it was in the pasta. There were bits of bamboo toothpicks scattered throughout one of the wraps and we were charged $3.00 for four onion rings. We waited an hour and a half for our food only to be disappointed anyway. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

We were out on beautiful Lake Mille Lacs boating today. We stopped in here to have some lunch and a couple cocktails. I've been here in the past, the food is always been good and services always been excellent. Today if I don't doubt that the place is been sold and it has a new name. The food is still good and the service is still great. We tried their mushroom caps and their quesadillas for an appetizer. We also get a side of fries for the kids. All the food was exceptional. The mushroom caps had a lot of Terragon in them and really tasted great. They also had some sort of sauce over top of them that really enhanced the flavor. If you find yourself up around Lake Mille Lacs. I would highly recommend stopping in to this place. They have really easy boat parking as well as a large parking lot if you're coming in with a vehicle. The new name of this place is "da boathouse". At some point we will have to update Yelp. read more

Let me start by saying I have never left a bad review on yelp, ever. Twice in a row this place has had the worst service have ever experienced. The servers are SO RUDE. It's like you must have "bad attitude" on your resume to get hired. These people act like it's the busiest night of their lives and ignore paying locals when there are 10 people in the entire establishment. When 3-4 servers can't handle 5-6 tables, It's sadly ridiculous. Such a shame because it seems like a fun place, won't go back until management gets their shit in check. read more

Had lunch at Da Boathouse today. Nice little marina type environment. I ordered the bacon wrapped meat loaf and enjoyed it very much. Clearly a step above mine. Came with garlic mashed and broccoli both very good also. GF had chicken strips and a bowl of chili. Chicken strips average, chili was nothing special. We will visit again. read more

Five Stars!! Stopped in there for the Friday night fish fry - great salad bar and great meal!! The pasta salad, soup and rolls that came with the salad bar were all top notch and the fact you could have the fish fry broiled (and not only fried) was an excellent healthy choice. My only suggestion would be to have better signage on the lake side -we arrived by boat and were unsure we were in the right location due to lack of signage. read more

We had Kelly and Buzzie cater for our wedding this past week of over 300 guests and I couldn't believe how many compliments we received! Great food and SOOOO helpful! They were able to supply a great selection of food including their chicken and roast beef and everyone stated they were full at the end of the night! Kelly was very helpful and willing to go the extra mile for us and was very much appreciated. The cost was an amazing deal as well!
