The receptionists are fantastic. The dentists are friendly and kind. But. I had an issue and was told I needed $10,000+ of work done. I went to another dentist, and he was able to remedy the situation for a fraction of that cost and with a much less invasive procedure. The last straw was my interaction with the periodontist. He "consulted" with me by literally not looking in my mouth and uttering 2 sentences. Then he seemed angry that I didn't consent to have my tooth extracted during that "consultation." It's been several years now, and I still have the tooth. It didn't need to be extracted. Take from that what you will. read more

I've been a patient here for years and they've been great. I first found D2 dental when I was having horrible tooth pain that had been poorly filled and refilled by my previous dentists. Ultimately ended up needing a root canal and Dr. Hornung was excellent. Although I've moved about 30 minutes away, I still make the drive to this dental office. It's a hike, especially to drive through the Boston traffic but worth it for dentists that you can trust. Highly recommend. I had an amazing experience at this dentist. I recently moved and was looking to start fresh somewhere new. They welcomed me in and were able to schedule me an appointment for the next week. When I got there I was helped right away even though I was early. Although I had recently taken x-rays, they took a new set at no additional charge. They took their time with the cleaning and were able to address all my concerns. Since it was my first time visiting they offered me a free fluoride treatment. They also provided me with in depth information about teeth whitening, per my inquiry. Dentist appointments can be all around very stressful, but I felt very comfortable here. Each hygienist has been very good. I have left each time with a thorough cleaning and recommendations for after care. Sadly I have also had to have dental work done. Root canal and a few caps. Dr. David was great. Painless. No swelling. Quick recovery time. He really spent a lot of time to define the cap so it would fit properly. He was determined to get the bite to be perfect!! Took my daughter to her first check up. She gave a stink eye to Dr. Park and refused to open her mouth. He was very calm and patient with her. 20 minutes went by and i finally used a toothbrush to yank her mouth open. Great to hear that her teeth are ok, and has her full baby teeth. My daughter received a small prize after the checkup. Filling out the new patient form was simple - everything was paperless, you need to complete the form on the ipad. The place is clean and tidy. The exterior however is a bit shady, in an old building, but the office itself is very modern. While you wait, the office offers complimentary poland spring water or san pellegrano sparkling water. Regular cleanings have been no issues and hygienist and Dr. Dave are friendly but I definitely do NOT recommend having any work done with the periodontist they use. There was poor communication all around between him and staff, poor preparation for what the procedure and recovery would entail and awful bedside manner. Leader Dental associates have now become D2 Dental Associates. have been taking my family there for over 10 years. Sadly Dr. Leader has sold the Practice to the New Owners Doctor's David and Daria Hornung.. Dr. Leader will still be there on Thursdays seeing patients. He is now pretty much teaching dentistry full time at Tuft's Dental School. We wish you well Dr. Leader. Myself & my family met Dr. Daria today for the first time..She is a sweet caring and very nice person. We were very pleased with her kindness and professionalism. Well I'm not really digging the place anymore. It's to Posh & has a very sterile atmosphere. Sadly all of the original staff are now gone. with the exception of Jess who used to be the top assistant. now I see poor Jess sitting in the back making cold calls.. This place is very high pressure sales procedure orientated.. very off putting. The worst thing about D2 is the secretary is very rude and condescending. the last time my wife called to reschedule an appointment 2 days ahead. The secretary threatened her with a $50 cancellation fee. their policy is 24hrs. Just rude.. My wife will no longer come here. read more

I was really impressed with how quick they got back to me with my online request for an appointment. Also how quick I was able to get an appointment. They offer Saturday appointments which is super helpful for those who can't really get time off during the week. Professionalism Bar None! I travel to Boston for business all the time and as it happens had cracked a molar at dinner. I needed treatment ASAP and when I did a yelp search D2 came up. I loved the reviews and the Pics showed exactly who I a would be dealing with (Daria and Dave) hence the D2. :) When I called in, there assistant was able to schedule me in a for an emergency consult. I then encountered their secretary, who behaved in a very rude and condescending way, who told me there is no letter "G" when I tried to spell out my last name for their records. She was speaking to me in a way that was very hurtful, distressing, and frankly, a little racist. It would have been only my first time there, but I will be taking my business somewhere else. I am so lucky to have found D2 Dental and Dr. Daria Hornung. They are great! She has a phenomenal bedside manner and is willing to answer questions, explain the procedure, and do whatever is necessary to help you feel confident. I have been there for multiple cleanings, xrays, and fillings and always had a good experience. However, today was what inspired me to write this review. Yesterday I developed gum swelling on top of my unerupted wisdom tooth and it was sore for the whole day. Overnight the gum ruptured and created an opened wound. On Saturday morning I was so worried that I was screwed-- what dentist would be open on a Saturday? Who would be able to fit me in? I figured I would just see what D2's hours were. Saturday 9am to 2pm. I was the luckiest girl alive. I called the receptionist and explained my situation and they got me in the office 15 minutes later. They took me back quickly, took xrays, cleaned out the wound and prescribed me an antibiotic and referred me to an oral surgeon. Up until that point, I was convinced that I would just ignore my wisdom teeth until a reason came about to remove them. Dr. Daria never pressured me into getting them removed but listened to my concerns and helped me come up with a strategy to try to keep my erupted wisdom tooth clean. My body has other plans for my teeth, but that's okay! I feel very lucky to know that no matter what dental problem I'm having, there is a team that can take care of me at (literally) a moment's notice. To break down the office: Location: Downtown Malden, there is street parking and lot parking available throughout the downtown area. The office itself is somewhat small, but very clean and has an open floor-plan style layout which is comforting, you never feel like you've been forgotten or couldn't get help if you needed it. People: The receptionists are always fantastic, sweet, kind, and considerate. The doctors and hygienists are great as well. Service: I'm never left waiting when I come here. The team is prompt, efficient, but takes their time to make you feel comfortable. All of my dental work from them has been excellent and they aren't afraid to take it to the next level to help you have the best oral hygiene (for me that meant getting a prescription for fluoride to use after brushing. No other dentist had even mentioned that as an option!). Overall, 5 stars. Very happy to have started coming here. read more

I was in need of a new dentist as was truly sick of driving to (what is now) my old one. I looked online and decided to take a chance with D2 Dental /Leader Dental in Malden - and boy am I glad I did. I reached out, explained my situation and they asked me when I could come in. They had appointments earlier but I opted for a Friday afternoon (not terrible to get out work a little early on a Friday, right?) with Dr. Hornung (the woman, who, by the way is a total fox). The location is within walking distance from Malden Center on the Orange line which made things very easy. They also told me that if I parked in a nearby garage and would validate it for me - #winning Before going to D2 Dental /Leader Dental, I was instructed to fill out the new patient forms which are easily downloadable from the website. Since the forms were filled out ahead of time I think I waited in the waiting room for a total of two minutes from when I arrived to when I was having my teeth cleaned by Dr. Hornung. Yes, that's right. The DENTIST cleaned my teeth, took pictures and was EXTREMLY knowledgeable. She took time to explain what she was doing, reiterated if I had any questions to ask, and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. After the cleaning, the Hygienist / Dental Assistant flossed me and Dr. Hornung returned to show me the pictures she took. She explained what the certain marks were on my teeth and how I can best utilize my brushing (she showed me the healthiest way to brush that was better for my teeth and gums). Overall I am SO glad I decided to give this place a try- everything was perfect from beginning to end. If you're looking for a good Dentist definitely give this place a shot. read more
