Because of my own laziness I've had to have at least 3 or 4 root canals in my life, along with many other drillings all from dentists who I wouldn't now give two cents for. A few yrs. ago my teeth were again in rough shape and my wife suggested Dr. Jay Epstein. I was extremely Leary about yet just within min. of being inside all the staff had me comfortable. All of the equipment is very up to date and even before anything is done Dr. Ebstein sits and explains what he feels the best options may be. Once work starts it's very much obvious he knows exactly what he's doing. He's also a perfectionist, which I picked up on the first time he worked on me. He doesn't take a that's ok attitude, for him , it must be perfect. His practice has plenty of parking and it very easy as it's right off the Main Street. All in all I'm finally in a position where going to the dentist isn't anything dreadful, Jay's a dam good dentist, for a beginner...., he's actually a pro. read more

Mediocre dentist. Took them 2 years to figure out what to do with my cracked tooth. Additionally, at my routine cleanings they'd ask me if I grind my teeth at night then tell me they'd do some sort of test after the cleaning then go on to forget when I was done. However, my biggest issue was after being a patient for multiple years, I was experiencing a delay in the processing of a COBRA payment due to a change in employment. The office refused to work with only offering that I could pay in cash or delay the appointment I waited months for longer. Their only concern is revenue, not quality patient care. read more

Wow! What a different experience than my family has ever encountered . From the friendliest staff to the phenomenal dentist/ hygienists the entire experience was just amazing. It is over an hour from my home but well worth the drive. I have never had a dentist show me potential issues to watch out for on my teenage son. I have had some great experiences with my dentist in the Boston area. However, I recently moved to the North Shore and wanted an option that was close to home. This is a 2-5 minute drive from downtown Lynn and the staff is friendly, knowledge, and were able to accommodate a sudden chipped tooth. They had seen that my cleaning had been a bit delayed due to closures and they were also able to get it done. I worked with Maddy and Dr. Nancy and they were so personable. I had a professional job done while having a few laughs along the way. I would urge anyone looking for a great dentist to give them the opportunity. The only regret I have is that there wasn't an opportunity to ask Maddy for her phone number. She was so interesting and funny. Anyhow, I reiterate, great dental service! read more

I had my first appointment today at this office with Dr. Nancy Epstein and her assistant Mable; both were very nice and kept me informed of everything that was about to happen. Everything went very well from start to finish, and I had no major pain, other than the small needle to numb my gums for the wisdom tooth filling. Even with Covid-19 restrictions, I was greeted professionally and checked in quickly by the the front desk, and got seen right away. This guy is just the best! Whenever I move to a new town, it's always crucial to me to get a great doctor, mechanic, and dentist. Sometimes it takes a while.....but I'm new to Boston's North Shore, and I'm so grateful to have found this one -- this practice is absolutely the best. Dr. Epstein is wise, funny, approachable, knowledgeable, and isn't out to do more than is necessary -- always critical with a dentist. On 03/15/2018 a loose #5 crown was recemented in Dr. Epstein's office. It fell out less than 3hrs. later.When i informed them,I was told to get a root canal and post and then to come back. I sent them a written complaint and asked for reimbursement.They have not responded. Another dentist recemented the crown on 03/20/2018 and it has held up since then. read more

One of the best experiences I have ever had! From calling to make the appointment, to getting my paperwork in the mail, to being reminded of my appointment and then going to my appointment.....UNBELIEVABLE! Great staff, great energy and totally client focused. Outstanding, that's it plain and simple. I just went here, literally got back five minutes ago. He was wonderful. I was a little apprehensive about his youthful, exuberant character, but I think that was because I am so used to being around dried-out dentists. He really went above and beyond. He explained things to me that nobody else would care about (e.g., how my teeth formed as a child that cause a deviation in my teeth that he noticed). He also fixed ridges that I hated and divets in the front of my teeth that are cosmetic problems only, pro bono, just because he had the time, I guess. Any who, my husband and I go there now, and I intend to stay. Currently, I have Delta Dental PPO, and he is an in-network provider. read more

As far as dentists go they are top notch. I've had lots of dental work done in my life (much of which started when I caught a baseball bat with my mouth many years ago), but Dr. Joseph at this practice has always taken care of my dental needs. From bonding, to whitening, and the semi-annual cleanings, I've never had a bad experience. Dr. Joseph is enthusiastic and had a great chair-side manner. The staff and hygienists are also phenomenal. Your teeth will feel brand new once they've been flossed and cleaned by Cheryl! Another thing that I like is that they are not pushy on additional services they offer. In the past (at other dentists) they were always trying to sell me on whitening, or some fancy toothbrush, etc. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the greater Boston area! read more

I had a dentist I really liked but they didn't take my insurance. I eventually got sick of paying out of pocket and stopped going there. I found a couple of dental offices but it was not the same. So I stopped going and didn't look for a long time. Until we bought a house in Lynn and decided we should try to find a new dentist. My wife found dr Epstein's office, had her first appointment and raved about everyone there when she got home. I was a bit skeptical but then had my appointment. Let's just say that I would hang out with every single person there! You are welcomed by Felicia's smile reach and every time. I think they put her up front on purpose, so you know exactly what you're about to walk into: A dental office full of amazing people. Once you make it to one of the patient rooms, Kasella (sp) makes you feel comfortable and sets everything up. She is by far one of the nicest and sweetest people I've ever met. She's genuinely happy when I come in for an appointment and who doesn't want to feel appreciated? You can't buy that kind of rapport. Then walks the dentist, Dr Josef, who really should be Queen Josef. As a matter of fact, this will be her new name, Queen Dr Josef. We chat about everything under the sun, she's down to earth and she has good music taste. And I should mention that I've had periodontal work done so not just easy, regular cleanings. Each and every time, I've been treated with lots of care. She's good peeps and I'm never leaving my dentist. You should just take my word for it and go there, seriously. I was a patient here for several years until things became bad... The good: the office environment is pretty casual and relaxing and the hygienists are very friendly and usually try to do a thorough job. Dr. Epstein himself was unfortunately never my dentist, but the few times he looked at my teeth, he was always very nice and came across as competent and polite. The bad: every now and then, they will call and ask you to change your appointment in order to help out somebody else. This is fine and understandable. However, this past winter, after agreeing to change my appointment, my new appointment had to once again be re-scheduled due to one of the many snow storms. This led to a long back and forth with me not being able to find a time that worked for me. I did not appreciate the "not our problem" attitude since I would have never had this problem in the first place had they not asked me to change my original appointment in order to help them out. After discussing in details what would work and what wouldn't, they said they would make some calls and try to re-arrange the schedule for me. I got a call back by the same person telling me how she worked her rear end off for me and was able to find a time. However, it was a slot that I had specifically told her I couldn't do. Rather than explaining herself, she made it clear that she was expecting me to be thankful for getting me a slot in the first place. After the whole fiasco and me telling them that I was all set with them, they actually still kept calling my wife asking her to come in (we both had appointments) and making hints about me as well. Reminded me of a car dealership whose sales people HAVE to call all customers who left without buying a vehicle. The ugly: their staff seems to always include one young, relatively inexperienced dentist, who always seem to leave after a couple of years or so. In my 7-8 years as a patient, I went through 4 different dentists (not including fill ins and help by the more experienced dentists when needed). Every time one of the young ones left after a couple of years, I was given the "new intern". I would think that they would at least attempt to keep track of long time patients and at some point give them the opportunity to have someone like Dr. Epstein as their dentist. This is even more frustrating considering that the previous reviewer here was able to get him as a brand new patient. read more

This dental office doesn't even feel like a dental office! Everyone is super friendly right when I walk in the front door. I always feel comfortable with Debbie (the hygienist) and Jay, they know so much about the field of dentistry and are good at explaining everything to me. I sometimes get anxious about going to the dentist, but I really like how the office got noise-cancelling headphones! I can't hear a thing when I'm in the chair and can play my own music if I want. I highly recommend this practice if you're looking for a great and positive experience! read more
