They have a variety of stewed meats for roti meals and sides like mashed pumpkin, potatoes, spinach and other veggies. Everything is uniquely seasoned and spiced. If you're not good with spicy foods, ask for anything with peppers to not include them. My husband ordered the stewed boneless chicken with paratha roti and pumpkin plus potatoes as sides. The roti was fresh and hot. The pumpkin was my favorite. The chicken was easy to eat and tasted good, not dry. The potatoes were soft. I got a double and it was amazing. Lots of tamarind flavor and some curry and cumin tastes. I love chickpeas and there were plenty of it stuffed inside. Gotta eat it quick or else the shell becomes soggy. I also ordered a bake and shark. First time trying it. The crispy texture of the fried fish plus the soft outer shell along with the lettuce and tomato all tasted delicious together. However, the fish was way too salty for me. After the first few bites, I couldn't eat anymore of it. My husband who has a much stronger taste palette even agreed it was on the salty side. Will definitely come back to try more items!

Service is always fast and friendly, and you can either dine in or take it to go. When you walk in, you order at the counter. They've got the hot food station right there with options displayed behind the counter so you can see exactly what you're getting (dangerous in the best way lol). Some items -- like the rotis and fry bakes -- are cooked fresh when you order. Then there's the fresh doubles station, where they assemble your doubles right in front of you. I've stopped in plenty of times before, but these past two weeks I was deep in my Trini breakfast cravings, so I went twice and tried two different classics. First visit: I got a fry bake with all the things -- baigan choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced eggplant), tomato choka (grilled, mashed, seasoned/spiced tomatoes, fried aloo (potatoes), buljol (shredded saltfish with tomatoes, onion, peppers done the Trini way), and smoked herring sautéed with Trini herbs. The breakfast usually comes with the fry bake or sada roti and 2-3 sides... but listen! Everything looked too good, so I ordered extra sides. And I'm glad I did. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly reminded me of my mom's home cooking. A real-deal Trini breakfast. Second visit: I went back for the bake and shark -- because if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. Another iconic Trini classic street food, cooked fresh when you order. The fry bake was soft and fluffy, stuffed with perfectly fried shark, and topped with a nicely seasoned lettuce/coleslaw-style mix. Great size, super satisfying, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes -- I always ask for their in-house hot pepper sauce. They make it fresh daily and it has a serious spicy kick (the kind Trinis appreciate). Even though I went for breakfast, everything in the hot food station looked so good that I couldn't leave without grabbing boneless curry chicken with paratha roti to take home for later. They also have a bone-in chicken option, because some of us Trinis need the bone for full flavor, okay lol but I got boneless. I've had their paratha before -- soft, fluffy, and perfect for soaking up curry. Their curries are always well-seasoned and full of flavor. By the register, they sell traditional Trini snacks and sweets -- things like kurma, chocolates, and fudge. I grabbed the fudge this time and whew... it was rich, creamy, and dangerously good. Like "why did I not buy two?" good. You do get 4 fudge squares in the pack. All in all, I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I've never had a bad meal here, and I'll absolutely keep making the drive whenever my Trini cravings hit again. Tabanka stays delivering

The Village Plaza, where the roti shop was located, looked like it had seen better days with a few empty business spaces. Shalama's Roti Shop offers traditional Trinidadian food items such as roti (chicken, vegetable, beef), doubles, phoulorie, aloo pie, and much more at reasonable prices. I greeted a male employee who took my order of stew chicken, one double with tamarind sauce and cucumber chutney, and one dhalpourie roti. My food was given to me within a few minutes. I started with the double which was delicious. The barra had a nice texture as it was filled with curried channa, complemented by the tamarind sauce and cucumber chutney. The stew chicken was served with a small salad, rice and peas, and boiled vegetables. Everything was well-prepared, especially the dhalpourie roti. In my opinion, I feel the food is not filling, as I was looking to eat again after an hour. Other than that, Shalama's Roti Shop is a decent place. I am interested in coming back to try their bakes, which is made on Sundays.

Every now…read moreand then I would have a craving for some roti or curry potato, but at the same time I am not willing to drive so far for it. Located in the Coral Springs Plaza, Priya's Roti Shop has the look and feel of a true West Indian shop serving homemade Trinidadian foods such as various curry or stew meats, cook to order roti (paratha or dhalpourie), phoulourie, bake & shark, doubles, and so much more. There's also homemade sweets & beverages, as well as various bottles of hot pepper sauce, spices, split channa, kuchela, and other Caribbean beverages. I was greeted by a gentleman with a nice Trinidadian accent. I kindly asked for a menu while he tended to the other customers. The prices range from low to moderate. Lord I wish I could get a bit of everything off the menu, but I will just stick to what I mainly wanted - roti. When the gentleman was ready to take my order, I told him I wanted boneless curry chicken which was served with my choice of dhalpourie roti and curry potato. I also ordered six doubles and a bottle of mauby. There was a bit of a wait cause the roti had to be made, which I didn't mind at all. Then he made the doubles. I watched him as he laid down two bara (flatbread) then scooped some curried channa (chick peas) on each, topping them with tamarind and cucumber chutney. Once the food was ready, I took everything to an available table and your girl was in foodie heaven. I started with one of the doubles which was absolutely delicious! The flavors of the curried channa and both chutneys complemented each other nicely, and the barra had a yummy texture...moving on...the curry chicken and potato was also delicious and flavorful with a mild pepper kick. At times I broke pieces of the roti to pick up some chicken and/or potato like a true islander. The atmosphere was truly relaxing with Indian music softly playing in the background. I was casually drinking the mauby which was lightly sweet and refreshing. I am definitely looking forward on coming back to try other foods, especially the bake & shark.

All that to say expect a different level of service. If you have traveled internationally, you know that less touristy places that do not cater to Americans are usually the most authentic and worth visiting. The other reviews rated this place down for no AC and the wait. I rated this place based on those factors too. Let's talk about it. First time here, and we really enjoyed the food. My husband is from the same country and told me the food is excellent and authentic. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the location too. Food Pholouri 12 pieces of soft deep-fried dough. Reminds me a bit of Brazilian cheese bread. Boneless Chicken, something I forgot. Roti dough is similar to naan bread and pita bread. Comes with soft chicken breast chunks and chickpeas mixture inside a soft roti. Made fresh, and it was delicious. The owner sat and chatted with us, and we learned a lot about her and her family. Made Fresh She makes everything fresh and on the stop to ensure the highest quality. Her menu is simple, only a few items, and she wants to make them fresh, which at times means it will take a minute. Spicy level? She only adds spicy if you want it. She makes it without because it is easier to add than to remove the spicy level. No AC Her husband passed a few years ago from living in the cold. They spent their last few years together in South Florida. The weather is similar to her hometown, so she doesn't turn on the AC. The fans blow, and it is cool enough. If you go in with the right expectations, it is enjoyable. Tipping Also, she didn't allow us to tip when we paid. She clicked no tip and gave us our receipt. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and it might not be ideal for visiting on a really hot, busy day. Still, any other day I say give it a go. If they had AC this place would be 5 stars hands down.

The ambience was on point with sweet Caribbean music pumping, real West Indies energy in the air. They were even thoughtful enough to check if the music level was good for our kids, which says everything about their heart. My wife was smiling ear to ear, the kids were doing their little dances, and my belly was happy, plus I had food to take home because the portions are generous.
