I spent $250 on my hair just to not like it.. I will say my hair stylist was kind and respectful but she wasn't very focused on what I wanted with my hair which caused a miscommunication. My hair is orange and brassy, they let me make an appointment to get it fixed which I waited all week for just to get there and they said they cannot do anything. Friday, 7/19 I planned a day for me & Mom. She takes care of my Dad who has dementia and needed a break. We started at D'Spa for a cut and blowdry; hers was grown out. Shahain took her. My Mom told her she wanted it cut, short layers all over, short on top, longer layers in back. Her stylist approaches me and says "Your mom wants her hair cut short. Is that ok?" I'm like really? "Yes." My mom is in her early 80s and Sicilian. She's just fine. So she's done and we're leaving. Her hair is flat like she blow-dried it for a Saturday at home. No product. "50 for the blow dry, 25 for the haircut". I almost fell and I live in Boston. "That's not a $50 blowout. There's no product, nothing". My Mom NEEDS product; she has fine hair. TBF: The salon offered a return visit with another stylist. Sadly, it was so humiliating and demeaning that my Mom is setting foot in there again. It was supposed to be a special day. Instead, Mom was treated like a child, got a crooked cut and 5-minute no product blow dry for $75. She was right. She should have gone to Supercuts. read more

The ONLY reason this place deserves one star is because the woman that did my hair was very nice. It started out with me making an appointment for a full foil. Once I showed the hair stylist the picture she recommended a balayage. After I explained to her that my last hairstylist (an amazing woman in San Diego that actually gave me the hair from the picture I wanted for half the price I got here ) said balayages would make my hair brassy (which I explicitly said I do not want my hair to be brassy at all)she proceeded to say "no, not really". So after convincing me she was capable of doing a balayage instead of the highlights I wanted, she began. While she was coloring my hair, I noticed that the salon was not very clean and the back room had terrible lighting. All of these thoughts interrupted by the hairstylist spilling bleach on my clothes about five times (I have the sweater still to prove it). She then put me under the dryer, without offering an refreshments. She came back about fifteen minutes later, unfolded a foil, and added more bleach to ONE spot in my hair. I was extremely confused. She finally blew dry my hair and when she turned my around, the two things I noticed was that 1. It was way more blonde than the picture I showed and 2. she parted it off to the side when she originally said she was going to part it down the middle.... Arriving home, better lighting, and $200 later I realized that the reason she did not part it down the middle is because it was extremely blotchy. I would be kicking myself in the butt if I decided to go somewhere cheap and it looked like this, but I have spent $50 less on much better jobs than this. read more

It was my first time going there. Have seen them at the mall for years, so thought I'd give them a try. My stylist asked me how I wanted it cut- gave her specific details- my cut is not a difficult one. When my hair dried, I could see how uneven the cut really was. Looked like I did it myself! But even worse than that- I called ahead of time, asking for the price WITH THIS SPECIFIC STYLIST- when I checked out, it was TEN DOLLARS MORE. I told the receptionist that I was quoted 10 dollars less. She blatantly responded "it(the register?) came up at 50, not 40, so that is what you have to pay." I was going to fight it, but I pick and choose my battles, so was not worth it. My payback is that I will never go there again- bad cut, plus lies about cost (to get you in the door?). read more

When I arrived (a little ealry) the older witchy woman with black hair behind the desk blurted out' they did tell you that its ONLY the facial for the coupon right? I believe in good hair stylists again! My hair was in such a bad shape after going though a traumatic experience 2 years ago with a different stylist and salon (my hair was falling, the color was horrible and because of the outcome I got very depressed and was ashamed to leave my apartment for the first weeks after that). I decided to give a Dellaria salon a try and see, practically praying to all Gods that my hair would be back to a healthy and beautiful stage...and I did! My stylist is Gina and she is awesome! She get's the color right (it takes time though cause blonde is not easy to achive if your hair is dark) and my hair is back to looking the way it used to be...Healthy!! I love her and the salon, they treat me great and it's a nice environment. I must add that I have also seen Esther to do my eyebrows and I can't go back to seeing anyone else because she really is into details and even applies a little makeup afterwards so it's harder to tell that your eyebrows just got waxed. read more

This could be one of worst salon experiences I've ever had. I walked in without an appointment and was able to have a stylist assess my hair. I showed her pictures of what I wanted, and she said she could get started right then, even though she had other appointments. I agreed. Things started off poorly, she spritzed some water on the ends of my hair and started cutting - if I wanted a cheap haircut with no hair wash, I would have gone to Supercuts! She then mixed the color and came back and started putting foils in my hair. I could tell she was a bit rushed due to having other clients waiting, but I figured with over 20 years experience she knew what she was doing.. After letting the color sit, and having my hair washed and rinsed, she started blow drying my hair. The stylist did not properly blow out my hair, nor did she style it (she pretty much just blew it dry and twirled a brush a few times). But, at first glance, I did love the color and the cut! I paid and tipped for the services ($180 + tip) and left the salon. After examining the roots and the highlighted sections much closer in better lighting, I noticed she missed quite a few spots and did not even come close to the root in others (we're talking an inch in some spots, and very clear lines where she started painting the color in a downward motion from). I went to Sephora and asked a few of the girls if this was normal, and they all said NO, and that she did not paint the color on properly or blend it well with my natural hair color (a dirty blonde color). So, I went back (within an hour of getting my hair done), and asked her to fix the spots. You could tell she was frustrated, and she disagreed the roots needed touching up, but she did it anyway. I'm not sure if she did it out of spite, or there was a lack of understanding on her part, but she added at least 10-15 more foils to the top of my head to add in more highlights. After sitting for much too long with the foils in, she had another stylist wash and rinse my hair, all while two other stylists kept staring at me and were very clearly talking about me (how unprofessional). I was overall mortified from this experience, ashamed that I even had to ask the stylist to fix my hair, that I did not have my hair dried or styled again. I left the salon with wet hair, and went home. By the time I got home my hair was dry. I looked in the mirror and burst into tears, my hair was white/yellow!!! And streaky!! I actually looked like Albert Einstein! I immediately started calling local salons on Newbury St. (I live in Boston, I should have gone here in the first place, my bad), but it was Sunday and salons were closing. I was able to get into another salon within 48 hours and have them repair the damage, but it cost me an additional $160 + tip!! I'm summary, if you don't want your hair ruined, and you don't want to leave feeling mortified and depressed, do not come to this salon!! read more

I'm still trying to figure out why Juliana is getting rave reviews for her work at D'Spa. I booked an appointment for a partial foil and was told that Juliana was the best available person. I checked her out online and thought, oh great, I'm going to work with a top professional! So upon arrival I notice that her hair is very bleached - VERY - and I'm a bit unnerved by being worked on by someone who does that to their own hair. I don't normally do anything to mine except wash and blow dry and only wanted a bit of lightening so that it doesn't look so boring brown. I tell Juliana that we should keep it low key, and asked for only a bit of highlighting. So she starts to put the foils in and we're chatting on and on. When it came time to wash the lightener out, I hear Juliana tell the woman at the sink to put toner in my hair. I ask what that was about and the woman says it's "so that you won't walk out of the salon with white hair, this is to make the color more even." WHITE HAIR? I practically jumped out of the chair. So apparently, my hair was bleached too long and the result was that most of the color was taken out of it. I don't get how this was allowed to happen. So the toner was added and it did make it a bit darker but my head is now brown hair with practically white shades here and there. Based on my experience, I can't recommend Juliana. If you book with D'Spa, ask for someone else. read more

Awful, Awful experience! I went in to get a hair cut for a wedding I was going to that day. Upon arriving I was told my stylist was running late but I could have a seat and wait, about 10 minutes after my appointment was suppose to start he walked in, it took him another 5 minutes to get settled then came and got me. At this point I was 15 minutes behind schedule. As I sat in his chair he continued to tell me how much he didn't want to come in for his first appointment...(I was his first appointment) and there was never an apology for him being so late from the receptionist, the salon manager OR the stylist. Once I left I was really just happy to get out of there, he straightened it with a CHI and the end result looked descent, but not at all what I had asked for. The next day after the wedding I came home took a shower and styled my hair.... That's when I noticed just how horrible the haircut actually was. It was completely uneven, choppy (even though I said I wanted smooth) and the back was so short I couldn't put my hair up! I got the complete opposite haircut then what I asked for. After a week of trying to make this cut work, I decided to call the salon and see what we could do. I told the receptionist what had happened and she said to come in. I asked specifically if the stylist on would know how to fix it and I was told absolutely! I knew it was tax free weekend and I really didn't want to try and go find parking and make my way threw the mall if this wasn't going to be fixed, I made the receptionist aware of my concern but she assured me it would be fixed. When I got there I was introduced to my new stylist. She brought me to the back room where other stylist paraded in an out touching my hair and saying "oh this is just a terrible cut" "oh this is just awful" "it's so uneven, look at it!" yea, I know... So after about 10minutes of her just telling me I need to blow dry it "better" she went out and told the receptionist she couldn't fix it.... Really?!?! I was told to come back again and ses an artist that has been there for a long time and she would ABSOLUTELY be able to fix it. I had go come back in another week! Another week! Fine. I was on vacation at this point from work so getting to Burlington was even more of a pain! I deal with parking once again. I deal with fighting my way threw the mall.... Again! I get to the salon and the manager is sitting at the desk, I politely say "honestly, at this point I just want my money back. This is the third time I've been to this salon to Fix the same problem." i was told, very rudely "well, im going to have to call the corporate office for that so, well see" I tell her "thanks, I'd really appreciate it, the amount of money I've spent on gas to get here alone is as much as my cut!" The stylist grabbed me and was playing with my hair to see what she could do. As I'm sitting in her chair I can see the manager and another stylist just staring at us.... Finally the 3rd stylist said there was nothing she could do and that the first person should have told me that to save my time... Awesome. The stylist walked me to the desk and told me to make another appointment for a month away. The manager made the appointment and said "have a good day" which shocked me because not 10 minutes had gone by since i asked for money back. I looked at her kind of strangely and asked if she had spoken to anyone about me getting my money back, she flat out said "no, that's not really something we do at dellaria" I told her I'd really appreciate my money back, she said there was no way for her to get in touch with "them" because they were on lunch, I told her i would be happy to wait..... All of a sudden she got someone on the phone.... After getting my money back I didn't get a "have a good day" "see you at your next appointment" or "I'm sorry this happened" I just got my money back and left. I can easily say I will never go back there. For a salon that's suppose to be "upscale" it was completely unprofessional and there was nothing "luxurious" about this experience at all. I'm completely disappointed in how I was treated all three times I interacted with That salon. Go at your own risk, I know many people that have recently made the jump to another salon. read more

I am giving this salon five stars because my favorite hair stylist has moved from the Dellaria in Burlington mall to this new location next to Nordstroms. My stylist is Yan, and she has been doing my hair for over 7 years!!! I know most people switch their hair stylists to try new things and whatnot but I really like Yan and she does a great job. She is super nice and not very chatty for a hair stylist but she takes her work seriously!!! I love my hair and I will keep going to her for cuts and foils. Be specific and clear about what you want and you will be happy. I have once ventured to another salon on Newbury street, where I paid $70 plus tip for a cut+blow dry and got pretty much zero change in my hair. I'm glad to see that Nolyn has some other fans here, haha. I ended up there the first time pretty much accidentally, but it really was a great coincidence. I was there to hack off a foot of my hair and send it in to locks of love, after not having short hair since I was 8 years old. I was totally nervous the whole time, but Nolyn did an awesome job! She gave me a short haircut that didn't look mumsy (probably what I was the most afraid of) and not only that, the way she layered it I was able to grow it out again without it looking weird or ratty. My hair is naturally kinda wavy/curly and I like to wear it in every possible phase (curly, straight, blown out, wavy, etc). The cut she gave me worked with every one of them. I just went to see her again this past friday to get my first set of bangs. It seems that now I want her to do all the stuff to my hair that I am scared of because I'm always pleasantly surprised. I had an old hair dresser in San Diego tell me that I didn't have the face for bangs so he refused to do it (for 3 years), so the whole time I was sitting in the chair I was like oh man I'm gonna look terrible after this. But no, Nolyn worked her magic once again and I left there with an awesome 'do which was perfectly within my capacity to maintain on a daily basis. I tried out this salon, hoping to be able to have a salon closer to my home, and instead ended up having the worst haircut experience of my life, and for the heftiest price I've ever paid. The stylist non-stop talked about herself without taking a breath and also without barely even cutting my hair. She talked with her hands, so she barely had time to make a few cuts. When she did make some cuts, she randomly snipped some chunks off of one side, not even touching the other side. I left in tears with a one-sided haircut that I paid almost $80 for. It wasn't just a bad haircut. It was a haircut that I couldn't show up to work with the next day without looking unprofessional. I had to frantically call my old hair stylist that lived far away and spend the rest of my day handling the problem this stylist had caused me. The stylist that fixed my hair for me was laughing and joking that it looked like a haircut by a child that had gotten ahold of scissors. Overall, this place cost me over $120 and an entire day of getting multiple haircuts. **I'm not sure how the salon can check their records and claim I never visited without my full name, but I did visit the salon before I was married. I held off on writing a review here until I had experienced the 360 of D Spa services & I've now officially done everything except a facial! My first experience here was a partial highlight with Juliana-- she's super-sweet and I loved the results. My second experience was with Danielle-- she gave me a cut and highlights, and again, I loved the results. I came back for a free Kerastase treatment, and the girl who treated me was really nice even though I was her 8th appointment of the day. My most recent experience was a transition from blonde to brunette with Lou-- it was a huge change for me, and he did SUCH A GOOD JOB-- all of the other staffers were observing and giving opinions, etc. Overall, this place has a great team feel, and the location in Burlington mall right next to Nordstroms (and the Nordstrom espresso bar) is really nice. They lose a star because: 1. My only negative experience was a partial foil that I got on a lunch break-- it took 3 hours (SO LONG) and I wasn't that pleased-- I can't remember the name of the stylist, but she was thin with short brown hair. and 2. They charge for a blow dry after a cut or a color-- its 40 bucks, which can put a haircut over $100 easily-- watch out for that! I wish it was included in the price-- especially when I want myself (and the stylist, right?) to see the end result. read more

The only reason I came back yesterday was because back in April I had a decent experience. I will say that in April, I had Amanda color and cut my hair and she was great. Amanda really listened to my requests, and stopped occasionally to ask if it's going in the right direction and if I liked it. My red color came out perfect and not too bold and my cut was great. Theresa was a different story. I called the salon first to see if they were even open on Labor day, which they were. I asked if I could make an appointment with Amanda and was told she was booked for the day but that I can come back Friday. I decided to give another hairdresser a shot. At the front desk I was approached by, who I later found out, was my hairdresser, Theresa. The whole time she 'greeted' me she was on her blackberry. So much for professionalism and making the customer feel welcome. At her station she asked me what I wanted and I told her what I say every time: Please get rid of the heaviness. My hair tends to frizz particularly because it's thick and wavy. Therefore, I want to get rid of the heaviness. That was my one and only real request. I also said I'd like layers. She then half-washed my hair, leaving plenty of dryness. I usually enjoy this part but it didn't seem like she put much though into it. I was less than satisfied, and worried it was going to affect the brushing, and therefore the cut. The whole time she was cutting it seemed like she was only getting rid of split ends, which was odd, but I decided not to question it. Then, maybe 15 minutes in, she starts putting products in my hair and reaching for the hair dryer. I blurt- you're not done, are you? Surprised, she reaches back for the scissors and starts cutting again. "well, at least this way you can get rid of some of that frizz"- really. isn't that what I came for? The rest of it wasn't all that different. She kept 'snipping' at it and I was wondering when those layers were going to show up. She blow-dryed my hair with my back to the mirror so I really had no say of how it was looking at that point. When I turned back around, I was less then pleased. My hair was clearly puffing up and there were No layers. She said she 'hid' them- but that's not what I asked for is it? I told her the poofiness was exactly what I was trying to avoid. I reminded her I wanted to get rid of the thickness and SHE said- well, you didn't say it like that. Seriously? Will NOT be coming back there. Will be complaining to the manger today and trying to get it fixed. Theresa, please listen to your costumers if you really care about your job. read more

I needed a quick trim to tide me over between actual cuts... mostly to keep the style while the length grew a little. Popped in here and was immediately handed over to Bianca. She took me back to the shampoo station and gave me a great wash, and it almost seemed like a head massage -- I was RELAXED! She trimmed up the edges, blow dried it, then went back over everything to make sure I looked damn good. And I do. My hubby didn't notice that I had taken the poof in, but that's normal. I just moved to the Boston area and I was in dire need of a cut and color. I heard about D'Spa from Yelp and I made an appointment with Juliana. From the moment I got there everyone was warm and friendly. Some background information about my hair situation...I was in Phoenix for 6 months and during my time there I went to a Trade Secret to get my hair done. It was HORRIBLE. My hair was so over-processed it left my hair severely damaged. I couldn't run my fingers or a brush through it for weeks and until it was bone dry it was sticky or gummy. My hair felt disgusting for so long that I was afraid to do anything with the color. I thought I was going to have to give up having nice, polished color until all of the damaged hair grew out. That brings me to my experience with Juliana. She is super sweet and funny and she took the time to listen to my concerns and go over my options with me. She gave me hope I'd have beautiful hair again and man did she deliver! She gave me a lower peroxide for my highlight, low lights (since my hair was so blonde she said it would add depth and make it look healthy). She also did a Keratin (sp?) treatment and took off a little more than the average trim. My hair looks and feels wonderful. I think the true test of a stylist is what they can do with someone who has a mess of a hairdo to begin with! I finally feel polished and no longer have my 6 month root growth haunting me when I look in the mirror. This was by far the worst salon I have ever been to with the worst customer service I have ever seen. I asked for a specific hair cut (trim with angles and layers) which was definitely not difficult. Amanda did a terrible job, did not listen, and chopped five inches off my hair claiming it was "dead". For reference, I get my hair cut every six weeks, five inches of my hair was not "dead". After calling corporate and asking them to refund my money, a woman named Jamie started screaming at me and hung up. Having worked for a very prestigious salon in Cambridge for a number of years, I was appalled at the level of service this company provided. I went here to try something new and just ended up disappointed. Do yourself a big favor and go to any number of the fantastic salons in Burlington besides this one. Worst. Brow wax. Ever. I don't know where their waxing person learned to wax, but she needs to go back and relearn. I went in for a simple brow clean up, and I walked out with uneven, un-groomed, scraggly looking brows. No trimming, no care put into making sure they were remotely symmetrical, and she took off way too much off on the inside edges, so now I have to color some in. Furious! I had two previous experiences at this salon that were great. But then I went yesterday and my opinions have completely changed. I went for an appointment with someone named Shahin. When I first arrived and she came out her first words to me were not "hello, how are you? " or any form of greeting really. Just a blank stare and "Have I had you before?" (she had not). Her station was incredibly messy (I had to climb over several different shades of other people's hair to get to the chair..honestly I should have left then but I really wanted to get my hair colored, trimmed, and blow dried straight). She seems unsure of what color to use (even though I requested they use the color they had used the other two times I had been there which they have on file) and I'm not going to lie, I was super nervous at this point. BUT we do get the right color and everything starts moving. She asks if we were going to just let my hair dry naturally and I told her no, I wanted it blow dried straight. When I tell her that, she gives me a look of concern and continues to tell me all about how good a flat iron works on her hair (I specifically did NOT want to flat iron my hair as it's damaging and I can flat iron my own hair at home. A Blow dry takes time and usually looks amazing every time I've ever had someone do it for me) She asked me some questions as to my motives to dying my hair (insinuating twice that the reason was for my husband to which I responded with "I don't care if my husband likes it, *I* like it ). After the color is done (I will say the color did come out really nice), she barely cuts my hair and proceeds to blow dry. When she "finishes" I point out not only was my hair still frizzy but also slightly damp still in certain sections. She tried to tell me that "that was from the finishing gel she put on" (it was not. My hair was damp and not straight). She also kept insisting that the only way to get my hair nice was to use a flat iron (this is so wrong. it felt like she just didn't want to take the time to make my hair nice with the blow dry and also upcharge me for the flat iron). She tried to make it nice but to be honest, while it got better, at that point she had already rushed through it and nothing she did was helping. She offered to take the blow dry off my tab and I noticed the price was the same within $10 of my previous visits. She then tried to explain that the blow dry was actually complimentary with the hair cut...so she didn't actually give me anything back for her incompetence. I'm so disappointed. Normally my hair holds it's salon finished look for a few days after, but this morning, it looks like it would had I done it myself. Other stylist at this salon are pretty good but do not get an appointment with this lady. I get my hair done as a treat to myself (I'm not able to afford to go always) so when I go it's special to me. This appointment left me completely disappointed and feeling like I just wasted my money. read more

If you're looking to have a professional wax done you must stop by D'Spa for an appointment with Ester (I'm not totally sure if that's how you spell her name or not). She's an absolute whiz with the wax!! She is incredibly friendly, funny, remembers you after just one appointment and most importantly she is a perfectionist. She uses hard wax, too, which is much less painful in my opinion. I'm usually one to bounce around from salon to salon for one reason or another but I won't go anywhere else than where Ester is from now on. Kerry has done my hair a bunch of times, she's great at what she does and I've always left really pleased with cuts and colors. I've never had a problem here and am surprised about the bad reviews. All the stylists seem very polite and do great work. The space itself is a little cramped and set up strangely, but that's because they consolidated the salon with the spa. I needed a haircut a few Sundays ago and since no other salons are open on Sundays, I decided to try Dellaria. I saw Karter and was really impressed with her! She did a great job cutting my hair and dried it perfectly (most stylists give it too much volume and I end up looking like I just walked off an 80s video set). She was very good at keeping up the conversation and overall I just really enjoyed the experience. The prices are definitely more reasonable than most of the salons in the area and the hours cannot be beat! read more
